Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
XYZ replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1710 pph! Wow, that's insanely high. Of course, the actual capacity is never as high as the estimated capacity, but when comparing to some other coasters it is very high: Cheetah Hunt: 1370 pph Intimidator 305: 1350 pph Diamondback:1620 pph -

To me, it looks like the supports are exactly where you'd expect them to be, with thin walls built around them to make the keyholes. I'm probably wrong though. You said essentially the same exact thing as XYZ did. Supports are there, hidden in the keyhole structures. Yeah, but personally I think that the supports are going to be inclosed INSIDE the gate structure that forms the keyholes. I'm sorry, couldn't resist. That's what I said, the keyholes might be where the supports are. Sorry, if I made it a bit confusing. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
XYZ replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Why would KI add a B&M Invert & an Intamin LSM Launch coaster when Cedar Point is so close by? Also, I doubt that a RMC woodie will be built in the near future. Son of Beast just got the wrecking ball, I don't think KI wants another wooden coaster soon. I think you have to be fortunate for what you have in Kings Island, you have a hypercoaster & a world class woodie, both of which most parks would dream of having. -
It's too bad to see Superman with this much downtime, but it is somewhat of a prototype. SFDK dissapointed a lot of people this summer. I heard on the local news a while back, that Superman only costed $6 million! I think that's a bargain for the size it is, but the short track length is probably the reason why. Superman does have a shorter length than Pandemonium. Linky: http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/local/north_bay&id=8719601 (Also, a TPR member is on the news video)

The keyholes might be where the supports are, just that the keyholes are hiding the supports. Also, that rumored layout some may remember on this thread from a few months ago: It seems that rumored layout was true. -

Wow! That's an amazing float. I was surprised to see people riding it. Also, I made a good comment on that video. -

Even though, the coaster didn't surpise me at all, I really like the 2 zero-g rolls going over the front enterance. I'm sure the GP will eat this up. -

California Great America (CGA) Discussion Thread
XYZ replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Even though most coaster enthusiasts hate the coaster, it still is very popular with the GP. It would be difficult to cram a hyper in there as there isn't that much space where Grizzly is. Also, Yahoo & the Marriott are right next door and I don't think they'll approve that location. When the new woodie will be built, it won't be a replacement of Grizzly as WoF & VF both have old woodies there with the new GCI coasters and the old woodies are still there. So, Grizzly will probably stay in CGA for a long time. -
California Great America (CGA) Discussion Thread
XYZ replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes! CGA does need a hyper. It probably would be a B&M since they are generally a little cheaper and CF built more B&M hypers/gigas in recent years than Intamin hypers/gigas. Though, I severly doubt this will come to CGA in the near future and I think that there is more of a chance of Knott's getting an Intamin Giga than CGA getting a hyper. I used to live in the South Bay and my friends there would rather drive over an hour to SFDK then drive 15 minutes to CGA because of lack of thrills. If a hyper gets built in CGA, it would draw all of the Bay Area there. Also, if a hyper does get built in CGA, there's a very high chance that it will be the best coaster in California. EDIT: Some of you might remember me posting this picture of what a hyper could look like at CGA: -
This. I would much rather have them with sit down trains. I don't find the standing position to be enjoy able. See, i'm 6'2 and i've -NEVER- found (At least, B&M) Standups uncomfortable, in any seat. I marathoned mantis around 12 times in a row + 5 times in a row at night because it was running well and not one of those rides (In random seats) was actually painful. In my experience, worrying more about getting the restraint closer to your shoulders, rather than the bike seat closer to your junk is the best idea. Granted, the more intense standups (Riddler/mantis/chang) will make my legs get pretty heavy from the forces, but it's not unbearable and it's never painful if you ride like you're supposed to (Standing straight up, restraint on shoulders, head back/leaned forward Though, with B&M's track record recently, if they built another standup, it would basically be a stand-up minetrain, possibly with a loop or 2 I'm also 6' 2" and I have found the only problem being the headbanging. The only stand-up I had rode yet was Vortex (CGA) but it seems to be one of the worst stand-ups. As my home park was CGA for many years, I rode Vortex many times and I actually re-rode it a few times and it was sometimes fun, though I had some really bad rides on it.

Cedar Point removing TTD. What's worse than all the amusement parks in the world ban you from entering their park?
