  1. So, I went to CGA today and here are some of my observations: -Gold Striker's graffiti wasn't as bad as usual. -Survivor valleyed today on the bottom of the north spike, so it was closed. -A lot of rides were closed when the ride was still operating with people onboard. Strange. -Gold Striker's line was pretty short as the line did not even reach the switchback area.
  2. Shockwave (Drayton Manor) http://rcdb.com/814.htm?p=8080
  3. Did we ever get a price on YOLOcoaster? I imagine it was quite a bit more the Superman at Discovery Kingdom (6 million), but I really have no idea. I know everyone is really psyched about Iron Colossus (if it happens I'll be too), but has there been any indication of anything, or is it just pure speculation? 6 million $ How do you know about Full Throttle's cost?

  5. 1983 - 1985 Update In 1983, Playland put in Revolution, a HUSS manufactured ride that spins riders upside down multiple times! The Classic Cars were short lived and were removed in 1983 for Alpine Beast, an Intamin Swiss Bob coaster that opened in 1984 that weaves around Thrill Shot's front spike. Here is Alpine Beast's entrance, queue, and station. Playland put together a high diving show in 1985. It seems to be temporary, but who knows how long it'll last. 1985 also brought Cycle Cruiser, a pedal cruiser where you travel through the woods behind Mining Town. Some strange happenings are happening as a whole area has been blocked off from guests. Jack Rabbit, Helter Skelter, Dodgems, and Phantom Castle are all closed. A few months later, Playland released information that Phantom Castle is closed indefinitely from rising costs of maintenance. They announced it will be torn down immediately for a new, exciting ride for 1986. Playland took no time to waste as they removed the ride and started to demolish the building. By January 1986, this was all that was left of Phantom Castle. It held up from 1920 - 1985 and was almost demolished in the late 30s during the abandonment of Playland Park. This is the end of the 1983 - 1985 update. Thanks for reading and comments are appreciated.
  6. From the SFMM facebook page, about Full Throttle:
  7. I'm another person who would not like to see the parachutes go. It's a nice, relaxing ride with a great view. My only complaint is how short the ride's duration is. Perhaps they can make the parachutes go up and down twice?
  8. Great video. It certainly is my favorite wooden coaster in California and the wait for its opening after so many years was definitely worth it.
  9. I found this photo on the forums, which I think is hilarious: Source: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=54890&start=10
  10. Baker Lake Amusement Park. Anyways, amazing job as usual.
  11. The line for Vortex is empty on typical on any day anyways. Fixed that for you
  12. The line for Vortex is empty on typical Thursdays anyways.
  13. ^That username is amazing!
  14. That was my post. There was nothing on the news about it, so it was probably something minor.
  15. This is an example of a coaster with an insane looking layout.
  16. ^If the ZacSpin is programmed the same way as the one in SFMM, I think you would rather have the mouse.
  17. Green Lantern (MM): Spin more! Ninja (MM): Have lap bars instead of OTSRs. GhostRider: Re-tracking/Topper track. Grizzly (CGA): Replace the long, drawn out turns with airtime hills like the Grizzly in KD. Kong: Vest restraints. Skull Mountain: Darker room and no music
  18. Well, considering it just came up from a pretty decent refurb with the station getting new airgates, the train getting new seats, paint, and a re-branded logo, it doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. Does anybody know if Montezooma's Revenge is open? When I went earlier in the summer, it was closed. The train was parked just in front of the station, and there was a bucket behind the blocked entrance. Probably a bit of renovation, is this what Robb is talking about? Montezooma re-opened from its renovation. You can see photos of it here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=506&start=6817
  19. Takabisha's banana roll. I haven't been on Takabisha, though this deserves to be on this thread.
  20. This pissed me off. R.I.P. both Tidal Waves.
