I have been hiring ride operators for the past two months now at my park, and one thing I look for is someone who knows what safety is, and why it's important. Make sure you use safety quite a bit during your interview, along with guest service. There are a few other things, i'll try to post tomorrow, I'm tired and going to bed. -RD

ahh. Your own radio show. I had one about two years ago on our local station, a morning Music show. But I decided to stick to sports mainly. Good luck on that. It's fun, it's even better when you get a few callers. Good luck again. -RD

Bush985 replied to SixFlagsTexas's topic in Random, Random, Random
Hmm Sports Mike Bibby Scott Pollard Hedo Turkgolu Peja Stojakovic Bobby Jackson Allen Iverson Gerald Wallace Jeff Garcia George Carl Charles Barkly Kenny Smith Dick Vermiel Bill Walsh Kobe Bryant Shaq Numerous other NFL Players and NBA Players Celebrities Mark Summers (Double Dare OWNS) David Copperfield Art Linkletter (Disney Fan Celebrity) Diane Disney Miller (Disney Fan Celebrity) Steven Tyler The Terminator! (Arnold) I know there is more, but I can't think of them right now. I met a ton of celebrities when my grandparents lived in the Calabasses Hills. -RD -
Actually the new restraints were maindated by the state. California has some pretty strict inspectors. There were also other modifications made to the ride after the move from Texas including shortening the drop by a few feet to reduce the G forces in the first loop. As far as the ride sticking around, I don't think it will run at all this season. It was rumored when the ride was first put in that it wasn't expected to last at the park more the 3 or 4 seasons because of it's mechanical problems, and was just a quick attendance fix at the time. But you never know. I think the coaster will be sold to an outside invidual. Old rides do cost a lot to maintain, and whats the point of keeping an old ride that costs as much to maintain as a brand new flat ride would? Save up and add a new coaster. I don't blame SFMW if they remove this pile. BUt hey.. What do I know? -RD

Maelstrom™ Ride @ EPCOT™
Bush985 replied to Envy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I enjoyed the ride. It's not very long, but it was fun none the less. On that note, we didn't watch the film, but I think I'll live without it. -RD -
Hey! I get #11 on a daily basis. But yea, I hate LA traffic. SJ Is bad though also. -RD

I see your side of the picture now. This isn't meant to turn into a flame. As far as SFMW providing a family atmosphere since 1968... HA Till maybe 98' then Premier Parks took over and the family atmosphere went down the hill. The park was focued mainly on thrills (AS you mentioned). Not to mention the numerous gang problems the park has accumulated with the Six Flags name. PGA had the same problems, and that is why they changed. I honor your opinon though. -RD

Just curious? You don't consider a $10 Million Plus Waterpark expansion a major addition? I don't think the park is worried about the enthusiast view of the park. It's funny, PGA figured out the whole family thing in NorCal back in 2003 when Tim Fisher came. SFMW took 2 years to catch on. Their attendance skyrocketed last year. The last major addition SFMW had was Zonga, and that is sitting there rusting, awaiting removal. Before that it was V2. PGA hasn't added anything major, but they have added quality which draws people. None the less, my point is, PGA's numbers were huge after their first year of a family environment. PGA isn't worried about how big the 30th ride is going to be. They are thinking, "Is it going to bring people in." I'm sure their last worry is "Is this going to bring in Enthusiasts." Oh well. I've made this argument many times before. It's a business. It sucks that SFMW raised their prices. But it's life. I'll deal with it. I don't think I'll invest in a season pass. If you remember back in 2000, 2001 Season Passes to SFMW were about that price, maybe $10 cheaper. I picked up a pass with a friend when I was in HS. -RD

I agree with paying the $40 for the Skycoaster at Old Town. I'm a Site Controller for Skycoaster Inc so I get on any skycoaster for free, but I would never pay money for one. I rode that one twice in November 04, and it was a hell of a rush, but not $40 of a rush. -RD -
I didn't drink at all, well had a Newcastle, but went to a place called "The Yardhouse" in Long Beach on Monday night. Anyone been there? Biggest selection of brews on tap in the world. Something between 130 and 250 drafts. From the Website: All I can say, if I wasn't driving I would of been in Paradise at this place. But yea, I'm sure some of you have been there. Wish I had my camera with me to get some photos. -RD

I have a photo looking down from the top of Top Gun's lift hill @ PGA, not from the train either. My ringtone by default is Crazytrain By Ozzy Osbourne! Such a bad ass ringer! -RD Sorry, a little blurry. -
