Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
Bucket replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I was thinking the same thing. Storm Runner does look a little similar to Fahrenheit. Not a huge fan of the color scheme, but I think the layout looks quite intimidating! -
One of my favorites! And it's the only song I know how to play on the guitar!

Perhaps this has already been said but... It's annoying beyond belief to have someone press their beliefs onto me. Sorry, but I just do not believe in God nor am I religious... I'm atheist. When someone comes up to me and says "Oh, but I am not trying to tell you to be religious or whatever, I am just telling you what I believe." It's the same thing! I respect those who are religious and have nothing against them, but it becomes intolerable to have someone come up to you and tell you that your beliefs are invalid and wrong. Ugh.

Thanks so far for all the suggestions! Greatly appreciated! Boston and New York are definitely cities I would love to see. I've seen so many films about the two places and it will be amazing to see it in real life. Quick question... I know Six Flags Great Adventure is in New Jersey and that is pretty far from Dartmouth College, but is it worth the visit? I would love to try Kingda Ka!

I used to be the same way (and actually, I still kinda am very shy) but sometimes you just have to go for it. As long as you're not a douche about it, most girls are actually pretty nice and are not as vicious as you think.

My first Photo TR and in English! It took me forever to write and I hope it is not too bad! Sorry for the bad quality of pictures as I did not take too many but I wanted to share! My cousins came to visit me for two weeks and since Europa Park is not too far from where I live (okay, it is still very far!) we decided to go camping nearby and then head to our favorite theme park. Europa Park is a very nicely themed park with relatively good attractions. Their staff are extremely friendly and can speak English very well (which was great for my English friend who was with us, as he did not speak any German!) The park itself, for those who have never been, has a lot of family attractions and dark rides. The coasters itself are not too great compared to other German theme parks, as the only one that I would re-ride would be Silver Star. Silver Star: 8/10 - Very fun and re-ridable but the queue is sometimes very long. I like that Mercedes Benz sponsors the ride because you can see and learn a lot about the company just by staying in line. I think they lightened up on the mid-course breaks recently because I definitely experienced a little more air. Euro-Mir: 6/10 - I don't have any pictures of this ride, (sorry!) but as a whole, I am not too big a fan of lateral spinning rides... they make me sick! It's quite a unique attraction though! You go up an endless spiral lift hill in the dark while techno music plays and when you reach the top, there are mirror cylinders where you can see the reactions of other guests before dropping. Quite a cool effect! Sadly, the ride isn't very long. The lift is longer than the actual ride I think! Eurosat: 7/10 - An enclosed coaster with a futuristic space theme. I have always been a fan of this ride, ever since I was little and I really still love it. It has gotten a little rougher though! Poesidon: 8/10 - As it was cold the day we visited, the line was not too long. Very fun ride with lots of twists and surprises. A little short though... Those are the only coasters I remember going on because the lines for the others were either too long or we just didn't want to do them. Overall, we had a wonderful together! It's always nice to spend time with family at a theme park because it always brings back such nice memories of my childhood! Enjoy the photos! Me and my cousin at a club after Europa Park! Overall... wonderful day! After we left the park I, the real fun began back home in Stuttgart! We all found this hilarious... a used condom wrapper in a theme park? Hm... Me on the left, and my cousins on the right The Switzerland section Geisterschloss... my favorite dark ride. It translates to "Ghost Castle". There is an intro similar to the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland with the elevator but the rest of the ride is totally different. A little more dark than the Disney version and better I think because I grew up with it! The station area... very nicely themed of course. Poesidon! This was a new ride for Europa Park... a shooting dark ride themed to Atlantis. Not too bad, but it was more fun for my littler cousin. Random theming A better shot of Silver Star from the parking lot later in the day when we were leaving. Me and my cousins on Silver Star being Asian (my two Japanese cousins were visiting and they always do this cute little sign!) I am in the second row! Inside the queue area of Silver Star First stop... Silver Star! (sorry for the bad quality... the weather was terrible in the morning!) Yay! Europa Park up ahead! ...but of course I went swimming! The lake near the campsite... it was so cold!! Our cute little campsite! Me and my cousins and an English friend went camping not far away from the theme park. Driving down Baden-Wuerttemburg! The state that I live in and where Europa Park is!

It's funny. I do work as a bartender, but in a straight bar so I rarely meet other gay guys. I try to avoid the gay bar/club scene. It's fun if you go with the intention of having fun with your friends, but going to meet a guy? No way! I don't know about the States, but in Germany, gay bars and clubs are just a pick up spot for guys. There are even disgusting backrooms where people go to... you know. I find that so true. My boyfriend at the moment is 26 (6, almost 7 year difference because he will be 27 soon) and I connect with him so much more than guys that are, say, 20 - 23. I guess I never had a problem with getting picked on in school for my sexuality because it was never a big deal to my friends so I never felt like I needed to compensate for anything. But this kind of explanation sure explains a lot.

This semester in University has definitely been very hectic! I just applied for an internship in South Africa/USA and was accepted! Through this program, I will be able to study in Dartmouth college in New Hampshire for one semester beginning in September. It is my first time in the East coast part of the States and I was wondering what are some worthy sites to see, theme parks, bar/club/nightlife... that's close by? Anyone from the East Coast? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Perhaps I'm in the minority... I am gay, but I really don't get along with gay people in general. Not because I dislike the feminine quality of some guys or go out of my way to not befriend them... but rather, I don't like the overwhelmingly materialistic, vain, and shallow attitudes that many of them seem to have. When I first came out, I tried so hard to fit in with the gay community but the guys around where I live (especially guys around my age) seem to only have an interest in drugs, sex, fashion and idiots like Britney Spears/Lindsay Lohan/etc. It's so rare to meet normal guys who just happen to be gay. Besides my boyfriend, I don't really have any gay friends, instead mostly straight, male friends. Anyone else like this?

FLIPDUDE's Midwest PTR
Bucket replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great TR! Such a shame that so many people seem to find Raging Bull boring or unexciting! I've been on only one B&M Hyper coaster (Silver Star) and even though it wasn't an airtime machine (mind you, it did have a bit!) I thought it was loads of fun. The layout for RB seems more inspiring too... such a shame, really! Anyways, can't wait for part II! -
It would really cost that much for the Metro to be up and running again? I guess that is really a pity. They should do something with that I think... tear it out and build a more reliable transport system. I've been to parks with and without trains (and maybe it's just me and I'm lazy) but I always stay longer if I know I don't have to walk a mile and back from one area of the park to another when I can just take a train to the front of the park. Also, having a train or a metro type of attraction is kind of relaxing and fun as well! Take Disney for example!

Six Flags announces Six Flags Thrilleaders
Bucket replied to Sticky Nicky's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A friend of mine, who was once a cheerleader, went to WDW and performed in the parks with other national cheerleading teams. She told me that everyone responded very positively to the event. Of course, that is an annual thing and Disney hosts it, not Six Flags. Yeah, maybe it'll be like a parade of some sort. I hope at least! I mean, how ridiculous would it be if some overly excited "Thrillleader" came up to you randomly and was like, "OMG AREN'T YOU EXCITED TO BE HERE!?!?" What kind of response are they even looking for? -
Misread - Kings of Convenience I recently just discovered KoC... they are really good music to have a smoke to! Check them out

I honestly can't see any park guest getting into this new idea. -
Just saw The Mist last night and was blown away! First of all, I usually despise Stephen King adaption films because they usually suck (Dreamcatcher ring a bell?) But The Mist was on a totally different level. What I loved the most about this movie was the theme of humanity. It's frightening to know that some people, in times of desperate measure where the future is uncertain, will latch onto anyone or anything that promises some kind of answer, regardless of how absurd the answer might be. I think this is the dumbest but sadly truest mentality that our society lives in. Think for yourself you morons, get the facts, avoid crutches of any kind, and stop looking for someone to blame! Marcia Gay Harden's character Mrs. Carmody made me want to back hand her. It has been awhile since I have been so angry at a character (which is a good thing! Props to her for such a great acting job!) There were a few things that I did not like about the film though. The ending for one was SO morbid! I felt like killing myself after watching that! But I guess it was better than the generic Hollywood, feel-good ending. Also, the CGI was a little off at some points in the movie (The tentacles looked so fake) which is such a shame because the monsters in the movie were BADASS! Overall, I think the movie was well-written, well-directed, and very well-acted. I thought this was gonna be another dreadful horror film but it actually turned out to be surprising great (but brutal to watch at times). I definitely recommend this movie to everyone! 9/10

^I think big cities in general (no matter what country you go to) seems to be a LOT more tolerant and accepting to gay people. The university town that I live in right now is pretty old fashioned but if I take the train to Stuttgart (the nearest big city) it is totally open-minded and there are even gay clubs, gay bars etc. I was in Italy awhile ago visiting an American friend who is studying abroad in a small town called Pavia (beautiful city by the way!) and there is the same problem with the gay community, there exists none! However, Milan is only 20 minutes away and the life for gay people is totally different!

I suggest you start in Southern Germany for Europa Park and Holiday Park. As Europa Park and Holiday Park are in the same state and are not too far from one another (perhaps a 2 or three hour drive?), you could easily see these two theme parks within the matter of two days but I would spend at least a full day at Europa Park. There is so much to do there and you wouldn't want to rush! Phantasialand is in North Rhine-Westphalia in the north and is actually quite far. Perhaps you should take a flight from Stuttgart to Duesseldorf or Koeln. And also, Heide-Park is not close by either. It is actually near Hamburg I think. It is possible to visit all these parks of course, but I think it will be very expensive because of the location of some of the parks. I think you should narrow down a few parks that you REALLY want to visit, and just stick to those. Best of luck!!

This announcement came as quiet a surprise for me! I think the ride itself has potential but as someone already stated previously, the name really blows. Would love to see an official layout of the ride! And what's up with Universal and coasters with enclosed lift hills? (Universal Osaka, IOA, and now USO) I think it looks cool!

T-Express (New Intamin Woodie) Soft Opening Today.
Bucket replied to Buddy johnson's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Every new woodie that Intamin has created in the past four years have all looked spectacular! This new one in S. Korea also looks extremely promising! Would love to have the opportunity to ride this as I have only been on one good Intamin woode (Colossus at Heide-Park) -
I recently saw the new Disney film Verwünscht (Enchanted) with my little sister and I really liked it! It was surprisingly funny, and reminded me a bit like the film, Elf with Will Ferrel!

I work as a bartender at a club/bar called the Buddha Lounge in Stuttgart, since September 2007. (Here is the site: http://www.buddhaloungeredmandarin.de/club/index.html) They play a lot of house, electronica, and techno music and the club itself has a very Mediterranean vibe to it. It really is the best and most fun job ever!
