I just don't want this to replace the idea of creating real experiences in Theme Parks. -

I spent a few minutes drafting a post only to realize that this thread is so far gone that it's not worth my time. Haunt starts tomorrow and all anyone can talk about is how the park supposedly sucks. I'm pretty sure none of you could even get excited for whatever coaster you end up getting in the future. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

That's just plain offensive! Jeez... -
i agree, there is almost always zero announcements which would help tremendously. some kind of verbal motivation i believe would help out. i still think it's more of a 50/50 split depending on who is working. all it takes is one slow moving employee to kill the duel. i've seen it happen too many times. I think it's a larger combination of factors. The way the ride operates really doesn't buy them much margin anyways. It takes forever for the lap bars to release, and they're difficult to raise quickly compared to most restraints. Between this and the guests, even relatively fast crews will probably fail more often than not. As others have said I think it's a stellar ride, but still.

The waterpark of america SUCKS, it's small and boring, IMO. The new slide addition makes it ten times better, even though they have a similar slate of attractions. I second this. Also - Our new slide tower is way more fun than the larger, more expensive "snake pit" model that the other parks are getting. The body slides on those run out of speed really fast. Yeah, we're missing the tube slides, but I'm sure that's something that will eventually come to the waterpark, especially if they open up all of that room for expansion. We also have Raging Rapids, which is hard to find anywhere else. I'm also cautiously excited about the flyers. The policy on snapping has differed drastically between different parks. I've had them say nothing to me at CGA and CP, but then they're Knottzis out in southern California, who will immediately stop the ride and ask if you are okay. If Valleyfair has a more relaxed policy on it, they could be one of the best flat rides around. -

B&M Restraints: Old vs. New
dippindotsguy8 replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think the comparison was more in regards to the lack of innovation on B&Ms compared to what other manufacturers are attempting. B&M seems to continue just relying on the same designs until the rest of the industry has left them behind. -

This is an understatement. I've only been operating one side of the mountain, as it's super difficult as is. I've been trying to give it a whirl over the past few days, but I keep running into a cascade, which, I assume is their word for stacking. The instructions clearly explain the goal of clearing a cascade, (quickly move all sleds through the station after resetting the emergency stop...) but the explanation stops there. The lift stops working, and I can't figure out how to advance the carriages though the station. Anyone have any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? A cascade will trigger an emergency stop. The steps to resolving this and returning to normal operation are: 1. Use the arrow key to designate which side you are resetting, and hold 'r' until it says "System Restarting" 2. Click the "Reset" button located just left of the E-stop 3. With the trains in the station area, move two to the maintenance track, and move other available trains to the storage track 5. Enter the block control panel and switch to manual 6. Click all the lit red keys one at a time to reset them. You may need to wait a few seconds to select each block because trains need to move out of the way. 5. Restart the lift (switch is near the entrance and single rider line switches) 6. Bring the remaining trains into the station until you have at least 8 there, and two on the maintenance track 7. Reopen the block control panel and switch to 'normal' 8. Resume operation -
B&M Restraints: Old vs. New
dippindotsguy8 replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I much prefer the old restraints. Particularly on the dive coasters, they allowed you to actually float in your seat. The newer restraints, while I don't find them uncomfortable, constantly hold you securely back. I like the thrill of having a bit more freedom. -

dippindotsguy8 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
IIRC, anytime a car returning back into the station was "righted" upside-down instead of right-side up by the ride mechanism, the ride ops had to call maintenance as they are not allowed to walk over and right the cars themselves, unlike in Europe. I rode it a lot when it was new, and there would be a lot of downtime due to having to wait for maintenance. Over the course of marathon, there were multiple times where I had to wait at least 10 minutes for maintenance to come right the car. The whole making the cars heavier thing doesn't make much sense to me as this still happens (although not as common), but this is SFMM we're talking about. Maybe this will be a question for management on Saturday. That may have been the case initially, but I have personally seen line operators manually right it several times in the last year. If it can't right itself, they just throw a vest on and fix it themselves. -
LOL! What a great first impression guests will have when they arrive at the park. The best thing about this is that they have the somewhat passive aggressive "Have a heart do your part" message, while they aren't even doing their part. If you're gonna have sassy trash cans, you better be on your A-game.
