  1. The Larson models are definitely snappable, but what it comes down to is park policy. I've seen the whole range from different cedar fair parks - everything from encouraging it to threatening to kick people out. I really hope Valleyfair will fall more on the relaxed side of the spectrum
  2. Regarding Soarin' Over California and FlyOver America
  3. You don't need to pay for that. Just time it right for when they are giving out free samples and feast on all the cheeses. I did exactly that this afternoon! I had the opportunity to experience Fly-over America twice today. It's a truly magnificent attraction and I'm so glad they got it up and running while I was still in town. I immediately compared it to Disneyland's Soarin' attraction, and I'm unable to decide which is better. I prefer Soarin's score and I also like it's progression from Day--> Dusk --> Night (as opposed to Flyover's random night scene thrown in towards the beginning). That said, this is a beautiful film and I like the more ambitious use of effects (mist, multiple scents, etc). I'm not sure I'll ever decide which I like better. The only negative thing I have to say about our experience was the ridiculous pre-show video. It was painful to watch for several reasons, but some particular issues I had with it were the terribly dubbed singing at the beginning, and awkward hip hop sequence. That video feels like it belongs in a different attraction. It sets you up for something far different than a beautifully shot, compiled, and scored nature film. Even if it had been done well, it does not make sense given the tone of the rest of the attraction. The staff we came into contact with were all great. They made a huge effort to interact with everyone as they filed into the grouping area, and managed to be energetic despite not getting much help from the guests.
  4. I've never hated myself enough to attempt magic mountain during spring break
  5. Skyscrapers are in my top 3 ride experiences ever! There's nothing quite like going forward/head first over the top and looking straight down at the ground. I think they're a blast and I'm sad to see that Cedar Point removed theirs (which doesn't appear to be going to another park).
  6. Surely a line could be drawn somewhere between "well maintained" and "SFMM".... Regardless, I had the pleasure of visiting for the first time last summer, and I can't wait to go back and check out Monster! Glad to see things are moving along.
  7. I'm probably heading to the parks tomorrow evening so I may try to get some footage. Depends on the timing.
  8. Truth! While the technology had me intrigued, I wasn't terribly excited for this. After riding it last week I can say it was actually quite fun! It's a much better use of space than Flying Tires, and everyone seemed to be enjoying it.
  9. It'll be deserted. It will be.........................................a ghost town
  10. I always support innovation and I'm glad they are trying this concept on some more aggressive rides. I'll be interested to see how this works out operationally and experientially. That said, I can't shake the fear in the back of my mind that if this does well, less rides will be built to be good on their own. Coasters are about having real thrilling experiences and I hope this doesn't change that over time.
  11. I feel like a nice, long Giga that covers some serious ground would be the most exciting coaster to show up in CA. I feel like it would be a welcome addition to SFMM, but I also suspect they're afraid of de-throning Goliath as the "biggest" full-circuit coaster most Californians have been on.
  12. CF said every park has a building OR open space available for a potential dark ride.
  13. They are able to hire you as long as you aren't starting until 14. Regarding the application, they will ask you to supply your age IF and only if you are under 18, because it would affect where you can be placed due to regulations.
  14. I'm sure you'll have a great time. If you work hard and are dedicated to providing a good experience for the guests, you'll have a lot of opportunities over time. A word of advice - Don't lead with the fact that you're a coaster enthusiast. Instead, demonstrate that you care about the guest experience and want to contribute to a fun and exciting environment.
  15. That space in the park above the arcades has been empty like that for at least a year, maybe two now. Nothing appears to be happening with it at the moment. It definitely isn't a huge area, but if the arcades and restrooms that it sits above were removed, they could make room for something.
  16. Because it's Riptide. That's why. I personally think every Cedar Fair topspin is on borrowed time at this point. Fixed But for real, I feel like every one I see is in some state of partial deconstruction or at least closed.
