  1. You are tooo funny!! I loved it! (And I agree with the comment about that softball lady..... dang she's got some arms) Shari "My WR would be 'talked to crazy person, talked to a crazy person, talked to a crabby person, talked to crazy person" Shoufler
  2. Cartoon Spin, here too.... That sounds like me. Shari
  3. So sorry to hear the bad news..... Shari
  4. I haven't been to Disneyland (yet!), so I really can't appreciate the "nothing new and innovative" issue. I have been to WDW 9 times and my visits have been spaced far enough apart and have, in some cases, been so short I've simply never been disappointed as far as seeing something new and different. But, then again, Walt saw to that by purchasing so much land in Florida. He knew there wasn't enough room at Disneyland for all that was to come. Personally, I love the idea of turning the subs into a Nemo attraction and really wish they were doing the same at WDW (they have filled in the area and are putting in a Pooh playground instead). I loved 20,000 Leagues and was really bummed when they took it out. Shari
  5. I would like to address this comment.... I have a 7 year old and the Disney/Pixar movies are pretty much all she knows. The last of the "traditional animation" films from Disney were not huge commercial successes, and therefore, the characters from those films did not become household names like Buzz, Woody, Nemo, Mike and Sully. When we went to WDW in 2001 the characters she most wanted to see were Woody, Jessie, Mike and Sully, not Pinocchio, Tinkerbelle or even Cinderella. I just think Disney is looking to what appeals most to the current audience. Those of us that are 30+ have a much greater connection with the classic Disney movies than the 13 and under set. Plus, these characters have made a huge impact on the adult crowd too. Shari "just my two cents" Shoufler
  6. Sammi and I saw it yesterday, also, and I totally agree with Gregg that it was awesome. I always liked the original-it was quirky in a 70's drug-trip kind of way-however, there were parts of it that I disliked, particularly the boat trip/tunnel part. I still find it creepy as an adult. Unlike the first movie, this one does stay truer to the book (or so my 7 year old tells me...her day camp teachers read it to them last week) and it definitely tells you a lot more about Charlie and Willie and their lives. I agree too, that, just like Ron Howard casting Jim Carrey as the Grinch, there could have been no better combination for this movie as the reteaming of Burton and Depp. I though Johnny Depp was hillarious!! He was kind of Michael Jacksonish, I guess you could say, but in the innocent way-not the creepy way. I also thought "Corpse Bride" looks cool (Sammi didn't understand, she thought it was 'Nightmare Before Christmas')". Shari "This one's worth your $8-$12" Shoufler
  7. OK....somebody help me. I have MicroSoft PictureIt or something like that. Why can't I take a photo I have scanned into there and attatch it here? I am thinking because they are not coming up "jpg" files, but I don't know how to make them .jpg files. Anybody know how to help me on this one??? Pathetically yours, Shari
  8. Or not. Shari "Going to go work on my computer skills" Shoufler
  9. Here's one someone sent me in an email the other day......
  10. And, behave in the chat room while you are at it!! Shari "Robb had to kick butt and take names while I was there yesterday afternoon" Shoufler

  12. ^You rock!! I sure don't remember that we (Kings Island) had one, but it says so.... otherwise it was likely Geauga Lake, as I visited there in the late 70s/early 80s. Shari "Thanks" Shoufler
  13. ^ Agreed. You can't exactly fake cardiac arrest. But, there are two kinds of medical issues that you have to look at... #1... Did she have a known, pre-existing medical condition that, despite the warnings, she chose to ride anyway and the forces- or even her own anxiety-of the ride set her condition off, or #2... Did she have an unknown medical condition and between (just thinking about the typical Disney trip here) the overseas travel, high temperatures, humidity, being tired, excited, etc did that trigger her to become ill? I think we all pretty much agree that when tens of thousands of people of all ages and sizes ride this ride (and others like it) without incident each year, the chances that "THE RIDE" caused her illness are not likely. Otherwise people would be keeling over every day. Her body's response to the ride could be at fault, but neither Disney nor the ride manufacturer can be held responsible for that. Shari "I happen to like sphincter tightening rides" Shoufler
  14. Politics and TPR..... Donkeys work for me! Shari "glad it's not elephants" Shoufler
  15. ^Maybe not the best ensemble to wear on a coaster-wedding or not. Shari "I'm with Elissa..... that whole thing's a little whacky" Shoufler
  16. Damn! I'm good! OK...now enthusiasts...tell me where I would have seen one of these.... Kings Island never had one, and I don't remember LeSourdsville/Americana having one, or Fantasy Farm. So where the heck would I remember this from... Old Coney Island?? Ohio State Fair or some other festival?? I don't think I ever rode it, so it had to be when I was pretty little (God bless my photographic memory). It is going to bug the crap out of me. Shari "Help me remember how I remembered this" Shoufler
  17. Is that catapillar something where that tarp comes up over you as the ride goes around and around in a circle??? Shari "I am going to feel stupid if I am wrong, but I seem to remember such a thing from my childhood (or some night when I was really drunk)"Shoufler
  18. And how was my friend, Shamu??? Shari "If you tell me dead, you are gonna get it" Shoufler
  19. All I can say is "WOW"!! I have been following this impending announcement on their website for the past couple of weeks as I am planning to make my first visit there in two weeks. This sounds like an awesome addition to what sounds like just an awesome park. I am so excited to go there now, and will definitely plan a return visit for 2006! Robb and Elissa.... TPR Day at Holiday World sometime next summer???? Shari "WOW" Shoufler
  20. Just my random thoughts... -Don't drag a screaming child onto a ride-EVER -Don't try to "get around" the height restrictions on a ride -Don't ask a child waiting in line for a ride if he/she is scared, or tell them a ride is going to be scary -Obey the health and safety guidelines -Never assume a park is open... always call ahead or check the park's website before planning a visit -Never call a park and ask them to tell you the current or expected attendance figure-they don't disclose this usually (although some parks will tell you when they expect higher/lower attendance) -Don't wear shirts with offensive sayings-that's just as bad as swearing -Always wear your TPR t-shirt (I still need to order mine) so we can spot each and run the other way -Don't carry on two-way or cell phone conversations while on a ride. If you can't go three minutes without using your phone, seek professional help Shari "I'm sure I'll think of more" Shoufler
  21. ^Why???? I am curious. Shari "It's one of my favorite rides ever, if not THE favorite" Shoufler
  22. OK, so I got this "please take time to complete our survey" email sent to me by Paramount Parks. I could not believe the stupidity of it. I don't know if they all (depending upon what park you chose) ask the same questions, or not, but I would imagine they do. http://www.parkfeedback.com/research/survey.aspx?s=NAMING Let me know if you all agree..... Shari "Of course I would pick ABC...Disney OWNS ABC, do you think I don't know that?" Shoufler
  23. Why thank you!! Seriously, it is pretty bad the way the media always does this.... I, too, am really sick of this mentality in our country that even though we make a personal choice (what we eat, what we smoke, how we drive, what we do for recreation, etc, etc), when something bad happens it must ALWAYS be someone else's fault. My friend and I were talking the other day about how all the height restrictions we raised at PKI this year. He's got a little girl, 2 1/2 and quite tall, and there are about 6-8 rides that she could have ridden last year that she can't go on now because of the changes. I wondered what prompted the changes and my friend made the suggestion that it was probably the insurance company. Good point. I can only imagine the increase in liability insurance these parks have seen in recent years. Now I will be honest... if my little girl got hurt on a ride (or anywhere for that matter) and it was truly the fault of another, yeah... I would probably sue. But the issue with rides is that the parks are doing everything they can to explain to people up front what the ride does and who shouldn't ride. Like someone on the Orlando Sentinel site posted "They can't perform a medical screening on everyone!!". How true! Unless there is a mechanical or safety malfunction, the fact someone became ill/died on a ride shouldn't be an issue. But then again "Girl collapses in MGM gift shop" wouldn't grab headlines, would it??? Shari "stepping down from my soapbox" Shoufler
  24. ^Sorry But you did pose for it....... Shari "and if I had your build, I would do it to....however, at this point, it would just scare people" Shoufler
  25. True... I haven't seen too many "eat bowls of plain pasta" challenges on reality TV. Shari
