  1. I think they do the "over speed launch" on all Rocket coasters, because I remember hearing that TTD tested at close to 150 in some cases. Even the first POV video and test videos on the CP website show the train FLYING over the tophat. I guess its to make sure that in the extreme case that something like this happens that the structure will hold up. Colin C
  2. Woah that was amazing! If this was a real ToT I would fly ANYWHERE to ride it! You seriously should be an imagineer, you've got some real good talent. Maybe if Im some billionare tycoon someday, Ill give you a ring, because this is one of the greatest Tower ideas Ive evr heard. Personially, I think this would be better than the WDW one if it were real, but I still like the 5D room and the capacity that the WDW one has. Maybe you could have a 5D room through the ball room or something, that would be cool. Once again nice work! Colin C
  3. There was an interview with somebody from CP on an old In The Loop Weekend review where this question is asked. His answel was no, he said that the whole tower would have to be modified and that it would cost too much. I thought this would be possible too, but considerinq that the vertical sections are not straight (they all have a curvature to them), it wouldent be possible. Colin C
  4. Well isnt that nice! Bummer I really hope it re-opens before I go in August, but its had two major problems recently and I really dont know what they are gonna do about this ride, it's be a shame if they tore it down but I dont think that will happen... Colin C
  5. Racing TTD's! That would rule, but it so wouldent happen... Colin"Racing MF's?"C
  6. Okay, to be brutally honest, I was a CP fanboy for the LONGEST time. Now, I think that the rides there are top notch and everything, but some of them are just not what they are hyped up to be. Ever sence I started visiting more parks, I realized how CP's coasters are not THE BEST, but still pretty good. MF for example, a great coaster when I first rode it in 2000. I was only 10 and that was a big ride for me and I loved it! Its just so fast and smooth and graceful. Now, that being said, Im almost 16 now and I have about 80 more credits then I did back then. I have to say I still love MF, but I think other coasters like Goliath, Titan, Raging Bull and SheiKra give better rides and MF is under them in my list. TTD, I was 13 when I rode it during opening season and i was scared to death. TTD is fun, yes, but to me its more like a ride that you can stay on over and over again and thats it. It's launch is the most intence one Ive been on so far, but that and the view are the only things I really ride it for. So compaired to other launch coasters that Ive been on, I would put it MAYBE in the top 10. Ive only been on about 15, so top ten isn't really saying much. Now for my overall view of CP is that they focus on rides that EVERYBODY will enjoy, but still break records and draw a big crowd. Its not like they are trying to appeal to coaster enthusiasts ONLY, they want the GP to ride. I mean, how many people that visit CP on a daily basis know that KingdaKa of SROS even exist? Not many, and the fact that these rides are so tall and fast and are a giant rush the first time make guests think that they are the best rides on the planet! I think SFGAm has a better selection of coasters over CP, but CP is still my second favorite park. I hope that makes any sence to all of you! Colin C
  7. Nice use of Matrix music there! I think its called Kidfried, its on the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack... Colin C
  8. While were on the talk of plane crashes, and me being so in love with aviation, maybe I can tell you some stuff about takeoff that might help you get over it. Well there are 3 peroids during takeoff called V1, V2 and V3. V1 is when you have build up enough speed to take off and you rotate, V2 is when you are just airborn but you still have enough room on the runway to make a safe landing, and V3 is when you completely clear of the runway and the only way to land is to turn back or find an empty field. Takeoff might be scary because the plane is shaking and the jet engines are building up power, but its really a LOT safer then landing, although they are both pretty safe. The only real reasons that could cause a plane to abort takeoff or crash on take off are either 1) Stalling, not having enough speed to keep the wings flying 2) a structural failure 3) loss of power or not enough power from the engines to successfully gain airspeed and 4) the weight balance of the aircraft, if a plane is tail heavy it will want to lift off the ground on its on, but it is unflyable once airborn, this can be recovered from V2. Please correct me if anything I said was wrong, but Im pretty sure its right. Also, at the Sun N Fun (a BIG experimental airshow in lakeland), we saw a small airplane (Cirrus SR22) blow a tire on landing. He stalled about 15 feet too high and the plane fell, the tire blew and the axel started to drag on the runway. I guess it finially gave out under the force and colapsed causing the plane to roll over 3 times. Nobody was killed, but I dont think the equipped parachute would have worked there (maybe 2 people will get that!)! Colin"I so much love flying and all its concequences"C
  9. ^Well I really dont think its going to be a Wing Walker, espcelailly with all the problems that TTD had, another accelerator/rocket coaster isnt what they need. Im actuially thinking an Intamin Flyer would probable, but other than that I really dont know whats happening there! It'll get a lot of hype and be only a slight bit of a let down, you'll see... Colin C
  10. ^I and I have to agree with you! I wonder what this thing will be? I seriously hope were not all wrong and its one of those cheap self rotating 4D coasters, that would not be cool. Does anybody think that this will be another talles/fastest coaster? Or does anybody think this will be a unique ride of some sort? Im really not sure what to think right now though... Colin C
  11. Well as long as were talking about plane crashes, I've been in one (sorta)! Well it was more of a bird strike, but it was scary. I was flying with my instructor in a Cessna 172 (a small 4 seater training airplane) when we saw this flock of birds up ahead. Now, logic would say "Lets turn and miss them", but we were on approach at Tampa and we couldentt turn out of the pattern, so we tryed to get above them. Well needless to say, a bird hit the wing and pretty much exploded. There was feathers and blood all over the plane and some of it even got inside through the air vents. We landed and taxiied to the general aviation parking, got cleaned up, and flew back to Sarasota in a different airplane! The plane only suffered a small dent on the wind, but it was pretty scary. Also, here is a picture of my RC airplane that suffered a mid air last weekend. Colin"and now Im a licenced glider pilot, go figure"C OWENED
  12. Yeah from the looks of this picture, I think its definately an Intamin. You can see the cross member that Intamin track is known for, but I could be wrong... pointpics.com/other/project2007/mProject20070007.JPG Colin C EDIT: This pic looks like the 3 tube intamin track. pointpics.com/other/project2007/mProject20070005.JPG
  13. Major pumping required, refills sold seperatly. Thats amazing... Colin C
  14. This guy's already the man, another Sarasota local! It's funny that a lot of people from my town are on this webiste, yet none of us have met each other! Colin C
  15. Wow that just SCREAMS dueling something or another.... Colin C
  16. Well the signage is all still Busch Gardens Tampa and everything, the commercials are still Busch Gardens Tampa, the season passes are still Busch Gardens Tampa, and even the main entrance sign is still Busch Gardens Tampa! Honestly though, I was at BGT(A) last weekend and didnt hear "Africa" mentioned at all, only "Tampa"! Im guessing that maybe over the summer or at the beginning of next year that the name change will take place, because theres a LOT of work to be done re-labeling rides and making new signs for the entire park. We shall see!!! Colin C
  17. The motor that the Mythbusters used to crack the CD's was a grinder thats used to, well, gind things. I think that the CD COULD crack if it starts spinning and stopping suddenly, but besides that I really wouldent know. Colin C
  18. Wow that’s a real bummer, they spent so much money on 4 centrifuges and can only use 3, leaving on perfectly functional centrifuge un-centrifuge(ing). I think maybe if they rotated the non spinning one to a different centrifuge periodically so that all 4 get used, but there is still always one non moving centrifuge. Colin C
  19. ^As BGT(A) is my home park, I completely agree with you 100% that Gwazi is the suck. I was smooth and thrilling like the day it opened, but then the suckage started shortly after. To sum it up, I think Mean Streak is better but its about tied with SoB. Nice update, I should really start posting at WC again... Colin C
  20. Hands down the Contemporary. Ive stayed in both a re-modeled room and it completely blows every other hotel room Ive stayed at away! I love the futuristic and retro style rooms, the fact that the monorail runs right through the hotel, and the fact that Chef Mickey's it right in the hotel lobby! Colin"otherwise, Grand Floridian is a great hotel aswell"C
  21. Wait, so is this some type of Intamin 4D coaster, or are the trains just set off to the side of the track? It looks like a prety cool design, but how are they going to heartilne it wit the seats so far off the center axis? Still, this looks like a cool ride! Colin C
  22. Hey its Papas! If only his opionions about coasters were true.... EDIT: Is that David in the picture behind that one guy? Colin"apparently DeJaVu is better than SheiKra..."C
  23. Hey, I know Kyle and Brad! Nice pics, Ill be up there the 25th, 30th, and 31st of this month. Hopefully DJV will be open by then, but from what Ive heard, it wont. Colin C
  24. Its called the search button on the top of the page, I found in in about 2 seconds www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24002&highlight=zaturn Sorry, just a tad late this time.... Colin C
