  1. Another stealth clone!!! Man that park is being really secreative about their ride, I wonder what it could be? Maybe a record breaking 10' tall rocket coaster? We shall see... Colin C
  2. Well this is the random thread, so I guess this is the best place to put it. Okay so a little backround on our project in progress: It all started two weeks ago when me and my friend were watching an episode of mythbusters where a vaccum cleaner was turned into a jet engine. That night, we started our very own turnbine engine. We both have a lot of aviation experience, and have A LOT of knowledge of turbines. My cousin works for the engine department at GE, so some handy diagrams were sent to us to build our miniture turbine. Now, we built this thing so that anyboody could build one using off the shelf items or things laying around the house. For the turbine blades, we used 3 large "computer cooling fans", two of them glued together at the back. With a few modifications, we used a 3/16" brass tube as a fan shaft to connect the fans together. The fans are housed inside 4" aluminum piping and the whole thing is about 2' long. For a fuel pump, we took a electric motor and hooked it up to a model airplane fuel pump, and then connected it to a train transformer. The fuel passes through the pump, up about 3 feel of fuel line which is connected to a sprayer made out of a spray paint can nozzel. The fuel we are using is model airplane 18% nitro fuel. The ignition source, however, has give us problems. We are currently going to use a wind resistant lighter to create ignition when we start it by means of a vaccum blowing onto the fans. This SHOULD ignite the nitro and thus start the turbine. We have not tried to start it yet, because we do not have the ignition source yet, but this experement with a turbine has been a lot of fun and very interesting. We plan on starting it in a contolled space that will be 100% safe to anybody around it if anything goes wrong. So what do all of you think about this project me and my firend are trying out? We already have built a internal combustion engine from scratch, and it worked! Ill see if I can post pictures of the turbine later when he gets them to me, untill then comment on it as you please! 3. I must say, the batwing on Montu is the most amazing element of any inverted coaster Ive been on. Nowadays, the trim is on pretty hard, usuially lasting 3/4 of the train, but still the batwing provides a lot of positive G's. The MCBR has really killed the second half of the ride, but I guess were going to have to live with that. And ParTrips, B&M designs a coaster for the space that the park provides, and Im pretty sure that the batwing was designed to go under the walkway, not to reduce G's. Just my opinoin... Colin C
  4. ^And they get all the hot dykes. Colin C

  7. Wow, creativity at its best! Has anyone noticed besides me, that Xcelerator is th only rocket coaster that turns to the right in the vertical twist? Kinda odd, means nothing at all, but odd... Good to see another rocket coaster going up, and isnt this the 11th? Ive seen pictures of another rocket coaster that was recently build (and Im not sure is even open). Oh well...prime numbers are lucky... Colin C

  11. Man, I LOVE water parks! I usuially make a trip to Adventure Island during the summer when its hot, then cross the street and go to BGT when I get bored. Its a cool way to spend the day... But anywho Ive been to: Adventure Island Blizzard Beach Typhoon Lagoon Wet N Wild (Orlando) Soak City Hurrican Harbor x2 (SFGAm, SFOG, SFGAm's was AMAZING!) and finially, the YMCA play park thing here in Sarasota (it doesnt count, I know). But out of all of those, the only one's that blew me away were Adventure Island (although it needs something new, as Wahoo Run was built in what, 1998?) and HH at SFGAM. HH is brand new, and they have a great selection of slides, and one of the family slides gives airtime! Colin C

  19. I was a guinea pig for Face Off at PKI. It serisously scared the crap out of me! The train valleyed (Well, the breaks on the loop set in and stopped the train) between the loop and the second spike, so they did the normal thing and got the train into the station by means of the second spike. Now, once they got everybody off, they tested the breaks (I could hear them popping from the station), then they boarded us! They sent NO test train at all! I was freaking out the whole ride, especially sence it was my first Invertigo! Another time, I got first ride on Montu after a major thunder storm that lasted 4 hours, and yes I waited in the station the whole time! And that also was my first ride on Montu... Colin C
  20. Is there an E? Colin C
  21. While I dont own very many collectable pieces of theme park history, I did manage to get a few shots of some cool stuff at Coaster Con this past summer. They include AE blueprints, an 1992 park map with B:TR as a standard sitdown coaster (and also Rolling Thunder is still there), and this Lusse Auto Scooter bumber car history poster (^that same company that your badge is from). Look for those picture tomorrow though, as Im too tired to post them now... Colin C
  22. ^^Oh that is one HOTT foot! Wow I live on Siesta Key! Yeah Sarasota is a pretty cool place, I really like it here. Its a really rich city, but Im not rich by any means, but its still a cool place. It's suprising how many people know about Sarasota even though its such smaller sized town. Colin C
  23. Haha how do you know about ODA?!?! No it was New Gate School, and MAN I love that place. Im at a military school right now and I will be going back to New Gate next year for the rest of my high school years.. But yeah I have some friends who went to ODA, do the names Ross or Alec ring a bell? Colin C
  24. Okay this has got to be the WORST picture of me ever! Heres a backround story for this picture: At my old school they have annual auction, and of course my mom is the one who puts it on so I had to work that night. Well I didnt get to go to sleep till about 2:15, so here I am at 2:00 am reppin my TPR hoodie. And oh yeah, its a mirror shot, and that white stuff is toothpaste not what all of you think it is...you sick people. Also, it was pretty windy here in Sarasota last weekend, so of course I had to venture outside to fight the huge amounts of wind, and like most weathermen, I lost... But that explains the second picture. Colin C I was doing good for a while....then I ate it real hard... Its toothpaste! I dont sin like that!
  25. Is there a y? Colin C
