^Those two areas are what I call problem areas or, at least, sections with the most potiential, espeically the area around Ride of Steel. It's probably the worst dead end I've seen in a park since there is nothing to draw people there especially if RoS is suffering a break down. I'd rather see new or relocated flats there instead of a new coaster in that location as they would liven up that area up more. Since Twister is in an odd location they should move it to this area. It may get more ridership at a better location.

^Thanks for the update. They still plan on operating it even with the snow? Is this fast speed going to be just for tomorrow or will it run that way next summer? A 52" height limit does not make it a family friendly ride so I wonder how fast does a Musik Express have to go in order to lower the height limit. Either way this is a fantastic addition to the park. -

The back right seat is the best seat on Raptor, heck on most B&M inverts period. Afterburn is also awesome when sitting in the back right seat. As for that view of Gatekeeper that is going to be one sweet backdrop to the Wicked Twister midway. The ride is looking great from all angles. -
Favorite Defunct Roller Coaster/Ride
Geauga Dog replied to GrapesLie's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As for favorite defunct it has to be Big Bad Wolf. As much as I liked Verbolten it just seemed odd not seeing the Wolf dive to the Rhine River instead of those sexy looking trains coming off the decrepit covered bridge. I'll also add Villain to the list. It may have been a temperamental ride but when it was running in cool weather and night rides it was a very good ride. Was quite sad to see a coaster that was only seven years old see the demise it had. As for rides I'm glad are defunct are Son of Beast and Disaster Transport. -
Unless it's become a maintenance nightmare I just don't see Viper leaving. Other than RoS it is a signature ride. Now if they were to take the Galaxy Theater site and include the Viper site it would make an interesting location for a big new ride. As much as I would approve the removal of Mind Eraser selling it to Martin's would not be a good idea. I personally don't think it's a ride that would fit the niche MFI has created though by adding Mind Warp two years ago showed that they aren't afraid to add something with a bit of intensity.

I could not agree more! It seems those who want a new coaster seem to forget it's going to take baby steps to get Darien Lake up to the potential it has and where Herschend wants it to be. Dollywood and SDC didn't get to where they are overnight or in two years. Rowdy's Ridge was a major step in the right direction and even though I'll be missing my Raging Seas next summer I look forward to the new drop tower and renovation to the area around it. Darien Lake already has a rather considerable coaster collection for its size even though most are clones found elsewhere. They will eventually get a new coaster and seeing the quality of rides Herschend has added to its properties as of late it will be a worthy addition, even if it's a family coaster. Now if they would just get rid of Batman's rusty remains so that the GP will quit asking for them to rebuild it.

My main concern is computer lag. I play RCT 2 much more than RCT 3 because in RCT 3, even though you have a large selection of flats and coasters, the game really lags if your park is too big and there's a lot of "peeps". Night mode is even worse. I don't have NL as I think it's too complex and time consuming to make a good ride, and that's just by what I've seen in photos posted in the games forum.

Cedar Point Off Season Tour Dec 2012

Great photos despite the thick fog. Thank you for sharing them. Really like the shot of Gatekeeper's lift rising behind Pink's and Lotsapalooza as that's going to be quite photogenic when you enter the park. I really enjoyed X Flight this year and the twist and dive first drop was one of the highlights of the ride IMO and I'm looking forward to experiencing that sensation at 170 feet in the air. Come to think of it a ride on Gatekeeper enveloped in that kind of fog would be incredible. -

Every Thursday at work I have to do reports and if I have to use a cart to take the batches down to the record room the cart sounds like coaster anti-rollbacks on a lift hill -
For me it would be 2001 when I did a two week trip to California and hit most of the parks in both SoCal and NorCal. Been wanting to do it again ever since. Also did SFGAm that year as well. 2005 was a big year as I hit the awesome Allentown, PA triangle (Hersheypark, Dorney, Knoebels, and SFGAdv.) Of course Kingda Ka was down after a major malfunction so I need to get back out there to get the credit.

That's because Kinzel's mentality of running the company was stuck in the 70's. This is great news though I have never stayed at any of the resorts but I've heard stories about them. I'm really loving what Mr. Ouimet is doing with the company and the parks. CP was actually a bit more enjoyable this past summer than it was the last few years under Kinzel's watch though there is still a bit of work to do to make it the great park it used to be. -
Most Notable Accident

Just went through this thread again. Another one to mention was Black Sunday at Kings Island when the drunk woman fell out of Flight Commander as well as the guys who were electrocuted in the pond by Viking Fury. -
I disagree. If a park like Holiday World were to build one it would be a big seller to the public. I think the ride is mainly geared towards the small to mid-sized parks that can afford them. But also if you look at Maverick, who's first hill looks to be about the same size as the Mega-lite's lift, that ride is very popular if you look at the lines it draws and it's not anywhere near the size of CP's biggest coasters. To many it's the park's best ride. My list of under-rated coasters would be: Grizzly at KD Viper at SFGAm Screamin' Eagle at SFStL GASM at SFOG Afterburn at Carowinds

The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Thread
Geauga Dog replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pleasant Surprise: Ninja at SFStL - This was my very first full-circuit Vekoma looper and I was somewhat loathing it since Vekomas get a bad wrap for its headbanging. It actually was not a bad ride though Ninja at SFOG, which was also a pleasant surprise, is better. Dark Knight at SFGAm - I know this coaster is not too well liked as it is just a standard mouse in a box but after riding many Wild Mouse coasters that are braked to death Dark Knight was a big surprise as it ran brakeless, giving a crazy ride in the dark. Unpleasant Surprise: Superman at SFMM - This was back in 2001 and since it was being featured on those coaster shows on cable at the time it looked awesome. While not exactly a "WOW" ride at the time, it did't live up to the hype. Apollo's Chariot - I hate to put anything from BGW on a list like this but I find Apollo a bit over-rated. It's not an unpleasant ride and I do like it but when I first rode it back in 2002 it didn't seem as good as I had hoped it would be. -

I've always though Magnum was more of a reddish orange compared to the red on Iron Dragon and Maverick. -
Geauga Lake, as SFWOA, was rumored to get a a hyper, even getting approval from Bainbridge Township to build it on the then Wild Life side. But even given the circumstances that eventually happened with the property, if a hyper would have been built there Cedar Fair would have taken it down and moved it to one of their other properties. I don't think a hyper necessarily has to be a signature ride to guarantee long term success. As long as a park treats its guests well, has a good lineup of rides and attractions, continues to improve the guest experience and add new things on an almost yearly basis they'll always be successful.

Considering there could be a pattern starting but I have a feeling another B&M giga is coming in 2014. Wonderland got Behemoth and two years later KI gets Diamondback. Wonderland gets Leviathan and it will two years afterwards that a new coaster will come to KI. -

2012-- What was your highlight?
Geauga Dog replied to Chroniq's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Getting back to Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens after a nine year hiatus. Finally experiencing what the fuss was all about regarding I-305 and it delivered. Also getting to finally experience a B&M Dive Machine with Griffon, which was aweseome, as well as Verbolten. Getting to SFGAm after a seven year hiatus and getting reaquainted with Raging Bull and experiencing X-Flight. -

I love Vortex as well and would hate to see it go but I understand if it has to. I still think it's quite popular after all these years. The only worthy replacement would be another multi-looper to fill that void. I'd miss it and its towering presence at the far end of Coney Mall.
