Carowinds Discussion Thread
Geauga Dog replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Excellent additions though I'm surprised they didn't rebrand the water park Soak City to go along with the new slides. Let's put it this way - Banshee is being added five years after Diamondback at KI. 2015 will be five years since Intimdator so I would assume a new coaster at Carowinds then. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

Me too. I can see the usual lift lits but maybe the dive loop and vertical loop getting some floodlights since they are close to the midway and queue line. The Zero G and the batwing/pretzel would be awesome in the dark (unless they do a Raptor and put strobes on the batwing). -
Waldameer Discussion Thread
Geauga Dog replied to Millennium ForceJZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great to hear Waldameer is taking a year off from adding anything and working on making the guest experience better. I was unaware that Rainbow Gardens had a restroom so adding a new one in that part of the park is a welcomed addition. As for the RFII layout I think they got the better ride by waiting so long to build it over the original proposal despite it looking like a longer ride. -
Best Additions for 2014
Geauga Dog replied to GoBears's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Kings Island's Banshee 2. SFGAm's Goliath 3. BGT's Falcon's Fury 4. SFA's Ragin' Cajun and French Quarter Flyers 5. SFM's Steel Medusa Though not officially announced Darien Lake's Lake Monster if it's a go for 2014. -
Most Shocking Ride Announcements?
Geauga Dog replied to dropzonefan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Despite being flat rides Great Escape's Extreme Supernova and La Ronde's Demon seemed to come out of left field since these two parks don't get as much attention compared to the bigger Six Flags parks. Dollywood's Wild Eagle and SFGAm's X Flight last year. We knew they were adding something big to each park considering the land clearing going on but I wasn't expecting wing coasters. SFGAm's Goliath wasn't a total shock as we all knew it was going to be a wood coaster but I was shocked when I saw the renderings and video. -
Just out of curiosity - why would Genessee County need to approve a new ride that's going to be placed where an existing ride is already located? I could see if height restrictions were involved or if the park was located near a residential area bringing concern by the residents but Darien is really out in the middle of nowhere.

I also wonder if there is some sort of connection between Guardian and GateKeeper. Makes you think Cedar Fair is trying to hide something. Whether you consider it a dark ride or a coaster one thing is for certain - this is a big step up for Cedar Fair. Kinzel would have never considered adding something like this if he was still in charge. Other than Banshee the company has really brought out a wide diversity in what is being added to their parks next summer. -
Six Flags Mexico (SFM) Discussion Thread

Medusa Steel Coaster and SFGAm's new Goliath are truly THE stand-out looking rides for next year. Very surprised they did a rollover right before the first drop - that's gong to be insane. -
The POV literally blew my mind. There is a lot going on with this ride for the small space it's going to fit in. That zero-G roll part has me particularly excited as I can just imagine the hang time through it. Glad I'm only seven hours away. I also like the logo - definitely stands out from the other Goliaths.

I don't get it. For years people complained "Oh, SFA doesn't get anything new" and now that the park is getting something new even though one of the rides is a used coaster, people still complain. Between Apocolypse and now Ragin' Cajun and French Quarter Flyers those three rides are more than what the park has added within the last five to ten years. Has anyone ever thought that maybe the direction Six Flags wants to take with SFA is to keep it more family focused? (you can luagh). I have not been to the park yet it's on my want to visit list but it is also my understanding that Great Adventure is only a few hours drive from the park and seems more focused on the thrlll rides.

Heide Park Discussion Thread

Along with Shambhala's ampersand turnaround this one of the coolest looking elements on a B&M coaster. At the rate they are going with this ride it could be open by Christmas. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread

I am very excited that they will be seeing some significant investment in the coming years. I really liked Carowinds when I visited in 2011 but felt it was just a tiny bit inferior in comparison to the other Cedar Fair parks. A huge upgrade and makeover of the water park is pretty much a given at this point. It really could use some newer slides. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Great additions! The old and tired looking Gemini games area is gone and it looks like we'll have our version of KI's Surf Dog. Nice that they are also investing in a set of Flying Scooters. Surprised by the name change and relocated entrance of Jr. Gemini but it makes sense to make it more a part of Camp Snoopy though it looks like the two Hampton umbrella rides in front of it are being removed sinc ethey only mention the Frog Hopper being relocated. -

Though the ride did have three trains when X Flight first opened in 2001 it never ran three. They eventually cannibalized the third train for parts but I will agree that when SFWoA/GL ran two stations it was relatively efficient. Even without FL I hate how Kings Island has Firehawk set up. It isn't efficient at all which is why I very, very rarely take a ride on it. -

^SOB's station is used during Haunt though I can see them tearing it down once they decide not to use it anymore in the future. -
Now I'm very intrigued and can't wait for the announcement next week. My favorite Six Flags is going be even better next year. I'm just a bit surprised given the diagram of the layout presented at the meeting it's not a bit more spread out but at the same time if they can make it as compact as Viper then we are in for a very unique treat.

What is a Banshee Twist ice cream or did they give the blue ice cream a new name? -
Favorite Coaster at Six Flags Great America
Geauga Dog replied to GoBears's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Raging Bull, which still ranks at the top of my favorite steel coasters even after riding coasters like Intimidator 305 and SFOG Goliath. It's one of those few rides where I wish I could plop my butt in one of those seats and don't move for hours, especially the back seat. Viper and X Flight are very close behind though. -
Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread
Geauga Dog replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Too bad SDC has a Huck and Tom themed river battle as that would have been a great theme at SFStL. I really enjoyed Buccaneer Battle at SFGAm despite my arms tiring out from shooting water at people however I get the impression it's not a popular ride there.
