  1. Since they're not having the event at SFMM I think it's a wise decision to advertise to the entire state, especially with the tree deal.
  2. Hey, we're not ALL ill-spoken, haha. Back on topic, I still don't get the reason for some of the flats, but if its making way for newer rides, then I guess its alright. They probably know what they're doing. I always thought Flashback would make a killer indoor coaster...
  3. Hotel Hellvetica is now on Myspace! Add the profile to your friend's list for special updates and behind-the-scenes previews! MYSPACE: http://www.myspace.com/hotelhellvetica Hotel Hellvetica is currently slated to be released January of 2008.
  4. Update Year 44 Announcement I'm really starting to like the new entrance plaza, even though I still miss Tidal Wave. Surf continues to please the guests. What a shot... One of the few "Year 1" attractions still remaining. Phoenix is another that still remains, but in a different spot. Surf signage. Nothing else here. The skylift is back to normal after last week's incident. The Boardwalk was looking somewhat empty today... Tantalus. Kissing Tower. In one shot. They've widened this pathway connecting the entrance plaza and the boardwalk - it looks alot nicer now. More soon.
  5. It does seem like some Deja Vu, but maybe this time will be different.
  6. I'm surprised people have picked up on the Narnia music! I'm going to be combining several movie soundtracks for the background music.
  7. TRAILER #1 - http://youtube.com/watch?v=NKCkC9STNnI
  8. Update Year 43 Short update for today... The season's coming to a close and things are slowing down. Solar Flare is still holding the spot for the favorite ride at the park, even with MME! The Cascades weren't too busy today... You're looking at over 4 decades of "history". Where will they expand next? It'll be interesting. Tantalus might have to go, but I hope not... The Skylift got stuck! Thankfully no one was hurt. The park should be announcing Year 44 plans any day now. Don't look for anything big, though. More soon.
  9. Awesome update - Universal seems to really put on the best show of them all, but that's not too big of a surprise. I wonder what they'll do with that ferris wheel...
  10. HOTEL HELLVETICA ANNOUNCED Hotel Hellvetica tells the story of a famous 1960's resort hotel that is struck by tragedy. The ominous hotel has not yet been revealed, except for this dark image of the building's core. One of the hotel's rooms floods with water.
  11. Sounds good, half the fun of any ride at Knott's is watching them try to fit it all in.
  12. Update Year 43 [THE PICTURES OF MME IN THIS UPDATE WERE TAKEN BEFORE I 'FIXED' IT] Sun sets on the Bay Lake Boardwalk area. Kaena Point Falls always looks good at dusk. Mine Mountain looking great as well. There's still a good amount of room to expand back here. The park seems to glow at this time of day. The Volcanic towers over the horizon. Wanna stay here? You'll have to book about 9 months in advance. More soon.
  13. Great trip report. I don't know about everybody else, but, IMO, any Fright Fest is best on a cloudy/rainy day.
  14. Update Year 43 Cresting on Solar Flare. Hershey's Hawaiian Cascades is having more success than the park (at the moment). The park uses GTRR, (guest to ride ratio). They see how many guests are entering the gates with how many attrations. I wouldn't be concerned - the park has had a ton of stuff ripped out in the last decade; they need some time to replinish. Solar Flare marked the park's comeback, in a way. The waterpark's mega-success won't last long, they have no more room to expand and if so what would they add? The park has enough "gaps" that it can expand for a few more years without having to remove any major attractions. But there isn't much the park hasn't had/doesn't have. 43 years of adding/removing has finally caught up with the park. The waterpark was something that should have opened long ago, IMO, but I'm afraid they would have tried to place it in the actual park itself like HHE's sister park. But as long as they have a steady stream of cars into the parking garage, all will be good. More soon.
  15. Iron Wolf at Six Flags Great America. For having a decent layout it sure does suck in the head-banging area.
  16. Update Year 43 The second half of MME is as crazy as the first! Lots of airtime right here! Never-before-seen shot! Here you can see what little the park had to work with, hence the odd-looking "mountain". The ride speeds out over the entrance area. ...And it's back into the mountain. There are a few helix-moments inside the mountain. The "terrain" section isn't that terrain-y. Park overview. Another park overview. Large lift hills are needed at this park... More soon.
  17. Awesome trip report, Furius Baco is the coolest coaster in my books - I gotta get over there and ride it someday.
  18. Great trip report, Wes! Carowinds, even as a CF park, looks pretty cool... I bet Top Gun is sheer awesomeness after that "vacation".
  19. Update Year 43 From last year: Mine Mountain: Excavation - my new favorite. This ride contains everything that makes up a great thrill ride. Yeah, this is how Hershey does "beyond vertical". Recognize this shot? The ride is classified as a B&M Hybride Mine Train, much like Gladiator at Geboldi Earth. The beyond-vertical sensation is crazy. The overbank is nearly a true inversion. From the entrance plaza... Into the mountain the train goes. The train hits a MCBR after the overbank to slow down for the "mine mountain" section of the ride. More soon!
  20. Epilogue October 31st, 1951 VIDEO: http://www.coaster101.com/gamesector/TSFepi1.zip "I stand here on this wretched beach..." "My name is Cynthia Maxwell. I used to live here." "I was young when it got bad." "My father committed suicide after he locked my mother in a panic room." "He jumped off of the abandoned ferris wheel behind our house. I believe he deserved it." "I was already in college when he killed himself. But it was only 11 years ago when I was told what had happened to my mother." "The family that moved in after us got the worst of it. The wife got caught up in an affair with a local 'ghost hunter'... The father found out and pulled a 'Madea' and drowned the kids..." "As the mother discovered the kids, the jealous husband went into the abandoned and shot Mr. Heathwood, the ghost hunter, before pulling the trigger on himself." "There are always stories that circulate... some say that the house was haunted from the original owners whom also committed suicide." "I don't know, nor do I care. The house was leveled two years ago along with what was left of the fairgrounds." "I believe my father's spirit still roams this property... but it really boils down to whether you believe in ghosts or not." "I do." "Even if you don't, you have to be a realist, there was something very different/wrong with the Stranahan fairgrounds... but we will never know exactly what." "Rest in peace, Mother." 21. NEW FOR HERSHEY'S HAWAIIAN ESCAPE - YEAR 43 Hershey prepares to bring back a classic with a new twist. Mine Mountain: Excavation will be the worlds first coaster to feature an "obtuse dive", coined by B&M mastermind Johny Canon. The dive will be the steepest in the universe, at over 100 degrees. The ride will stand 16 stories over the park, becoming the tallest coaster at Hershey's Hawaiian Escape. B&M have featured several of their best products at the park and they feel this shall be no different. The ride will soar through an overbank before roaring into a twisted mas of steel, dodging in and out of the new Mine Mountain. The park intends for this to be the classic revision of the ride that closed decades ago. Hawaiian Escape opens for its 43rd season soon.
  22. I don't know, I have mixed feelings on this one. I never got the credit (it was always down/had too long of a line), but hopefully this'll clear up some room for expansion.
  23. ^ Sure. Hello Theme Park Review - I want to play a game. You have looked at this park, day in and day out... you come home expecting a daily update, and while you might not post your thoughts, you cringe inside at the thought of not seeing this park updated daily. You have taken it for granted. So lets play a little game, I will give you a webpage: http://www.coaster101.com/WEBPROTECT-youholdthefuture.htm You'll notice there is a window that asks you for a username/password. You have to find that out for yourself. USERNAME: (only the word, do not include the word "the") Too easy? Let me make that a bit harder: PASSWORD: (enter the ages from oldest to youngest, no spaces) Think you can google for the answer? Think again, this riddle has been altered. If you somehow decipher the code, you will find the announcement to the Year 43 addition. If you find the press release, post it as soon as you read it, because if no one receives the answer before November 1st, then game over for Hershey's Hawaiian Escape. Make your choice.
