Kidsongs Let's Ride a Rollercoaster introduced me to SFMM... I thought a Tony Hawk coaster would fit nicely into Flashback's old spot, but a HH expansion would probably work too.

Whoa, it's coming down fast! I guess you can see this as an improvement for the park. Depends which way you look at it.

I like how Paradise Pier looks like more stuff is going on. Looks like some stuff was downsized or taken out all together.

Update Year 48 Year 48 is underway and it's looking better than ever! Attendance levels are up from previous years possibly due to the hype created around the park's upcoming 50-year anniversary bash. It looks like these next few seasons really are going to be the park's golden years. The park wasn't crowded this early in the morning so I really took a good walk through the park, I don't do that too much anymore. Solar Flare looking great as always! No line. I'm there. People tend to forget about the second, landscaped and terrained section of Excavation (yes, Mine Mountain has been dropped), it's not just a big abnormal hill sticking into the sky. Lots of trees at this park. Delusion is "pwning" a ton of people right now. Ready for the blast? There they go! More soon.

It'd be awesome to go to Dollywood this time of years, even though I'm not too fond of riding coasters in the cold, it'd still be cool.

I got to go to a Trans-Siberian Orchestra last night... HOLY CRAP. One of the best concerts I've been to in a long time. I figured it was just gonna be some of their Christmas songs, but it was alot more. The little Jimi Hendrix segment they inserted in about half way was crazy, the whole place was screaming. These folks really know how to put on a show. Anybody else been to one before? Thoughts?

Update Year 48 It's a new year at Hershey Hawaii and so far it's off to a great start! Grande Bay Tours has proven to be a hit! It might be a short trip but the on-board narration is great! The park needed another family ride. The skyline continues to grow, but apparently its about to REALLY grow within the next few years. FlyUira is a hit with the guests so maybe the park will stay low to the ground with future installations. I returned later that night for the park's new Midnight Mania event for season passholders. The park wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be, but it wasn't empty by any means. I decided to grab a late-night meal at the cool Rainforest Cafe. Always leaving two pounds heavier! This has to be THE least-known ride at the park. More soon.

Update Year 48 Announcement Since I'm an "Elite Passholder", I got some inside information on the park's upcoming 50th anniversary celebration. Here's a rundown on some of the events: - The celebration will last for three seasons, starting with a "pre-bash" during the Year 49 season. The rest will take place of the Year 50 and 51 seasons. - The park will be adding a major attraction during all three of these years - There will be a nightly firework show during peak weeks of operation. - Expect to see ALOT of new signage throughout the park with the following theme: The theme of Hershey's Hawaiian Escape's 50th Anniversary Celebration. Update Year 47 Phoenix is still operating, but guests now exit through the queue (which is getting old!) as the investigation is still continuing on the exit ramp. Police are sure they got the right guy... Hernando Martinez was arrested on Wednesday and is in jail without bond. I still expect to see a lawsuit from the victims' families. In other news, the park is gearing up for its 48th season! [FROM LAST WEEK] Grande Bay is being extended for the new attraction. Today the extension was complete and looks really good! Expect to see more improvements to the other side of Grande Bay Boardwalk as well. Surf! has been experiencing excessive downtime recently, I look for it to be refurbished over the upcoming off-season. FlyUira has been a hit and attendance has sky-rocketed during the second-half of the year. The longest (continuously) standing coaster at the park, Tantalus! I think it'd be great if they could somehoe incorporate the carousel into the park. With its age/history, I believe it would be better to be kept indoors. And now with Mud Island in the equation, maybe the Zippin Pippin could be relocated there. It's time for Memphis to have a park again.
