Welcome to TPR. We already have an entire thread devoted to Thorpe's new ride: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=41543.
Please post about Saw there, and remember--if there's some big park news, it's a pretty good chance that it's already been posted. A quick search for the word "Thorpe" would've brought up this thread instantly.
This thread will be locked.
Thank you,
Chuck
I liked High Speed Thrill Coaster, too--probably the most insane kiddie coaster I've ever ridden. But I got the impression that it was beating itself to death.
I'm pretty happy with the top 10. Four of my top rides made it (haven't ridden Voyage, T Express, Ravine Flyer, Boulder Dash, or Aska).
Intamin's domination of the poll doesn't surprise me one bit--their rides kick butt.
I like Dominator a lot, but I agree that the corkscrews are the worst part of it. I've found that corkscrews are usually the worst part of any coaster.
KD has lost something over the years (I've lived in Virginia since the mid-1980s).
My avatar is in honor of Busch Gardens Europe's "Christmas Town" announcement. This is the only park-related Christmas ornament (as far as I know) that BGE has ever sold. (They do have an all-season Christmas shop in Germany, though.)
I imagine there'll be other park ornaments in 2009.
I understand your reasoning for "CoasterTube" (or "Tub"), but I voted for TPR TV (bascially for the same reason as Scott). I think the new feature needs to be the same "brand" as the site.
I especially liked the extra-special Christmas lighting for Space Mountain.
Excellent report, Erik. I've only been to the Halloween party event, myself.
Hmm--contrast your location with mine. Looks like blue skies, temps in, what, the 80s?
Here, at Lake Tahoe, it's been snowing, the temperature was 1 this morning. Not exactly zipline weather.
Looks like an awesome time to be in a ship on the Caribbean.
Wha? Did you take a sidetrip to Utah?
I thought Midway Mania was great, too, last October; alas, I rode it but once. (Hmm--actually, I'm pretty sure it'll be great next October, or any other month, for that matter. Just thought I'd clarify my comments a bit.)
Dominator is definitely the best of KD's coasters now, with Volcano coming in second. I'm a fan of Grizzly, too--I'm just a sucker for the "Shed of Death."
The worst is probably Anaconda. On its best days, the second half of the ride is boring; on its worst, it's brutal.
