  1. Yeah, I think Zamperla is going to have a hard time collecting on this judgment.
  2. So, I guess you don't like Boomerangs? I think there's little need to keep belaboring this point. Plus, claiming that Greezed Lightning cause SFKK's attendance to drop seems to be, at best , a logical fallacy. While attendance may have dropped the year the ride was added, I believe there were other factors at play (not just Greezed Lightning). Note that I am not saying that adding a Boomerang to SF St. Louis was a great idea. My message here, folks, is that there's little point to beating a dead horse.
  3. I remember that in 2010, the tunnel portions were good--but getting to them was absolute hell.
  4. Gene Petriello, Communications/PR Manager of Kings Dominion, presents a big check to Linda Tiller of the Central Virginia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure .
  5. Are you sure this isn't a new movie on SyFy?
  6. I'm very intrigued with this, too. A Premier launched-coaster/dark-ride combo sounds great!
  7. WHAT?!?!?! There is only one response to this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plWnm7UpsXk This could be the most intriguing announcement of the show.
  8. I don't care for Boomerangs, but I like Premier launched shuttles. Back Track looks like a pretty good concept to me, but shuttles aren't to everyone's taste.
  9. I wouldn't put too much stock in the video for accuracy on the lift mechanism--they're just trying to get the concept and ride experience across.
  10. The SeaWorld ride vehicle looks great. I'm looking forward to this attraction quite a bit. I also like GCI's wooden shuttle concept, as it sounds like a good way to two different experiences from the same ride (and I miss how they used to run one side of Rebel Yell backward at Kings Dominion).
  11. The Chinese "Soarin" knock offs were pretty blurry. It was strange encountering two different "Soarin'" ride systems in China (the one at Joyland was dfferent than the one at Happy Valley). I hope Ferrari World has good luck with theirs (they do have some interesting attractions at that park).
  12. I think Fisherman Warf was the scariest park we visited--there really seemed to be some potential for disaster there.
  13. Hmm--I guess this would be mine. 1. Balder (Liseberg) 2. New Texas Giant (Six Flags over Texas) 3. Phoenix (Knoebels) 4. El Toro (SF Great Adventure) 5. Colossos (Heide Park) 6. Expedition GeForce (Holiday Park) 7. Intimidator 305 (Kings Dominion) 8. Goliath (Walibi World) 9. Mind Bender (SF Over Georgia) 10. Phantom's Revenge (Kennywood)
  14. ^Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of my lunch, but your description is essentially correct. It was sort of a Chinese version of a chicken-fried steak, in a very rich sauce. Dave, I think the formula for developing a Looping Toboggan goes like this: (Fifth of Vodka + Case of Beer) x Regular Carnival Toboggan = Looping Toboggan I imagine there's an alternate formula involving some sort of hallucinogenic drugs, as well--but that may be how Volares were invented.
  15. ^That sounds pretty good--it should make the exhibit after the ride a bit more interesting.
  16. ^Surely there's some sort of spell to cover that contigency, such as "JK, "Drinkonius Can-of-shutupias!'"
  17. They are coming for our children! Or maybe just our churros.
  18. I imagine the park would have some way to bypass the "elevator" if there were technical problems.
  19. ^"I'm gonna wreck it" is hilarious. Nice job capturing that old-school video game look. Agreed.
  20. The haunted toliets in that walk-through were hilarious--looks like they've added to them a bit since I was there in 2007.
  21. For all those who are worried about the Main Street Bakery becoming too "Starbucks like," could it possibly look any worse than, say this? Note the somewhat obtrusive, non-period GAF logo. Or this? You can make a case that the Carnation logo fits in better than the GAF logo, at least. If anything, I think Disney is doing a better job at this sort of "rebranding" now than they did in the past.
  22. ^I've always been a bit put off by the GIBs because of their reliability issues and the fact that, well, they're bigger versions of Boomerangs. But I was very suprised at how smooth this ride actually was (at least toward the front). Sometimes Vekoma pleasantly surprises me.
  23. Ocean Park's train was pretty well done, and I'm willing to bet Universal will do something similar (and do it pretty well).
  24. You should've taken Europe in the Air out of Busch Gardens Williamsburg. It only takes them five minutes to get to Rome.
