So many great memories of that trip. The staff at Liseberg was great, and they greeted us in the morning with snacks, beer, and hammers under Balder.
Need to go back there--now!
My thanks to all those Coasting for Kids participants that took me up on my matching offer. I'll be responding in kind tonight--and choosing the lucky rider who gets double his or her donation back!
Possibly.
Dark rides come in all forms--haunted houses, "wacky shacks," shooting dark rides, dark ride/coaster combos (Space Fantasy at Universal Japan really blurs the line here). Personally, I'm all for more dark rides at parks, if they're well done. On TPR trips, I look forward to quirky dark rides and walk-through attractions as much as I do big coasters.
The Faux Finish on the Columns and Track to make it look "Rusty" SCREAMS theming to me.
If the way a ride is painted screams theming to you then I'm guessing you honestly haven't seen much good theming.
If someone is going to pay the money and spend the time to go the extra mile, then I commend them. I've seen plenty of good theming, but Big Thunder Mountain should have as much theming put into it's track as Nemesis.
Here is my reaction to this conversation.
^Yes--new track was fabricated for Raging Spirits and was installed in two phases over two years. But this is hardly a "standard" practice.
In a sense, as Craig said, TDS did "buy a new ride."
