  1. No lines for anything today, even Skyrush!
  2. Am I the only one that actually likes the name Full Throttle? I can't to hear more about this ride.
  3. Operations wise, I'll take SFMM any day. But Hershey=Intamin heaven. Rode Skyrush today and the ride is terrific. Tight lap bar by the brake run, but nothing nearly as bad as some people have been saying. That twisty third hill is the best, most fearsome airtime moment I personally have experienced!
  4. And as far as I know, Wes hardly ever bashes SFMM.
  5. Well, we know the addition was unplanned when Superman was built, so in some shape or form they had to compensate the cosmetics of the ride purely for function on an existing structure. Considering we don't see these kinds of installations very often, I really have little issue with how odd it looks, as long as it works and is dependable. Personally the make-shift style kinda makes it even scarier IMO. Good point.
  6. I haven't been on any of the B&M winged coasters yet, but this sounds awesome!
  7. There were days I rode Intimidator 232 several times in a row and my thighs ended up sore from hitting the restraints. Apollo's Chariot has worn my thighs out after several back row rides in a row. If the airtime is strong enough, your thighs are going to hurt regardless. Honestly, after riding Skyrush and Apollo back to back days, the material on AC's lapbars isn't that much softer than Skyrush. They're more ergonomic than Skyrush's restraints, and they're ratcheting instead of hydraulic, but the material surely isn't the problem. But I still don't think it's any different (or worse) than any of the other modern Intamins, all of them have a tendency to staple down throughout the ride. So this isn't anything new. And that brings us back to Robb's post a few pages back. On another note, I didn't realize that BG was so close to Hershey. I may have to re-examine my trip for tomorrow and Thurs!
  8. We got our tickets from Giant Foods. $15 off.
  9. All I see here is a ton of people whining about the whiners. Excruciating thigh pain ain't for everybody, but clearly there's a healthy contingent here who are into it so I'm sure ThighKrush has a rosy future at Hershey. Anyhow, you really should ride the ThighKrush before you give your opinion on it. If this forum is like every other one on the internet, I'm sure that point is made about 50 times a day but doesn't stop the ignorant from stating their case. As a funny aside, *I* can't believe how much whining I see in this thread about the Wildcat. One of my favorite woodies and I don't consider it rough at all - a little wild yes, but not "rough" or "painful", but the "wimps" are out in force around here talking about how much that thing beats you up. Hey, not everybody is as tough as me I guess, but for those folks I guess the leisurely Comet is more their speed. So now you're complaining about people complaining about the complainers?
  10. At this point I wish the "lapbar hurt my legs" people would just STFU. If you can't handle it, go marathon on Great Bear.
  11. Ugh... I guess I need to get out to Hershey real quick, before the ride is trimmed up, and then the inevitable complains about trims start up.
  12. Yeah, I will gladly take the pain of extreme airtime. You want a comfortable ride? Go sit on a lawn chair!
  13. It's actually surprisingly reliable, at least it was at SFMM.
  14. I say ride Skyrush twice first thing, and skip Fahrenheit all together!
  15. Spin bins are such a great idea! Hopefully they catch on. Can't wait to ride Skyrush next week!
  16. Interesting that people said the US would never get a megalite design from Intamin. Well if this thing rides like it looks, I think we ended up with something just as good!
  17. Right now, I don't see the employees at SFMM as being the problem. While they are still a somewhat apathetic lot, they do get the job done and aren't nearly as rude as I use to experience. And for me it isn't that Six Flags corp is cheap, it's what they choose to spend their money on that is the problem. Dropping big bucks on new attractions is great, but what about the other, smaller projects that get thrown by the wayside as a result? Clean bathrooms, decent food, rides that work the way they're suppose to and NON COASTER things for the family to do. How many times have we all said this, yet it is never addressed?
  18. I have heard nothing but positive reports out of the other parks in the chain, so this problem seems central to SFMM right now. Honestly, part of the problem seems to be all of the construction going on at the expense of other things. Full Throttle should really be a 2014 or 2015 project, giving the park some breathing room to focus on some of it's weaknesses. But from what I have heard, the current park president really idolized Del Holland and seems to reverting back his way of running that park.
  19. Wow...Carsland is turning into everything I had hoped it would be! I seriously cannot wait!
  20. Hey for the record, I'm" PRO"-Six Flags. They have both my current top wooden (El Toro) top steel (SFOG Goliath) and overall top coaster line up (SFMM). In my opinion no other company makes me more excited to see what they're going to add next year. They hardly ever disappoint. At the same time, we have to be honest to keep them honest. Green Lantern is a modest misfire in the larger scheme of things, but it does add to the overall feeling of a company once again taking short cuts and being cheap at the expense of their guests. And they need to be called out on it. I really don't want to see a redo of the Gary Story era!
  21. Firstly, some rides need trims because the park wants the ride to be designed a certain way, meaning that they might want an ejector hill into an overbank, but they want it in a certain space. At the same time, they might want the coaster to be 200+ feet. The only way to fill al of these requirements at times is to trim the ride so that the forces are not overbearing. Also, you have to remember that one of the largest problems that coasters have is air resistance, which is EVIL to calculate, as it depends on hundreds of factors. As was stated a couple of pages back, huge engineering companies are bragging about 10% error in their design. Because of this error, companies have to make assumptions, because the theoretical world doesn't exist. In case you didn't want to read that, the short answer is that: a) The park wants something in a set space b) Theoretical vs Actual. Maths are a cruel beast, and cows are NOT spheres. Thank you! Now Good Lord can we move on?
  22. Kinda feel like we're starting to beat a dead horse and repeat ourselves now...
