  1. Part of me wonders if they may have had some animal-related proposals in their 5-year plan that they shelved in favor of these thrill rides because of everything that's happening with Seaworld. Just a personal musing. Interesting theory that wouldn't surprise me, actually. Also, after nearly a decade of being the premier thrill park of the bay area, CGA now has the guns to apply some pressure.
  2. ^ You got it. SFDK used to be my homepark, and yes, you are right . Also, much care has been taking by Six Flags to not build loud roller coasters near the animals in the inner workings of the park. Instead, building on the outer perimeter of the property.
  3. No way. Those Giant Discoveries are as expensive as a small coaster. Also remember, this is a company that mismanaged itself into bankruptcy. They are spending far more responsibly, and finally adding more versatility to their parks that already have huge coasters.
  4. The Giant Discoveries are easier on my stomach.
  5. I think everything is accounted for now 3 iron horses 2 raptors 1 free spin 1 skywarp Now that I think about it, you're right. But the fact that RMC can handle this many projects in a year and a half really gets me excited for 2019/2020.
  6. ^ I'll be just as blunt. I couldn't care less whether Six Flags cares what we think or not. I'm still going to express my opinions on their rides and whether they should be removed or not. Otherwise, why ever discuss anything pertaining to a theme park? Most of us here are not stupid. Universal didn't care what people thought when they decided to remove Dragons, but we are here to discuss those decisions regardless.
  7. ^ Except SFMM has never teased their attractions, even in big years, which I've always found rather odd. Perhaps they've found in this region, teasing new attractions just doesn't work, as Knotts barely teased Hangtime either. Or yeah, maybe nothing much is coming. Maybe a DC kids or new kids rides in Bugs Bunny World.
  8. One and done rides for me. However one at the top of the mountain would be pretty cool. Whatever it is, does anyone know why SFMM is the only major park not teasing?
  9. Every Impulse coaster has been rumored to be removed by the park it's in. Too bad, because I love them, and V2 is my personal favorite!
  10. I never rode it with these effects before, but this is great news for Haunt! OMFG I'm there! Just the "welcome to the demon" coming back would be amazing, but I've never ridden it with the fog or blood fall either! Cedar Fair really is doing everything right with this park, I'm really excited for the next 5-10 years here. Agreed. This park is on the way up!
  11. I'm sure there will be a lot of 1 train ops due to maintenance and staffing, but they'll be absolutely no one in the park so...
  12. Same. I don't see how they're going to staff the park considering so much of their workforce is minors. Minimum wage hike + opportunity for permanent positions = More of a young adult staff?
  13. From Screamscape... - New Attraction - Rumor - (8/21/17) So what's coming to Six Flags Magic Mountain for 2018? I've heard a couple of interesting rumors, though neither are going to make the coaster lovers out there very happy. According to one rumor, which I'm not very sure about myself, this source believes that SFMM might get a special king-sized version of a Larson Super Loop style ride. The other rumor, which I have to admit sounds a bit more like something SFMM would do, is to install a new world's record breaking ride in the form of the world's tallest Star Flyer. Currently I believe the world's tallest is the Sky Screamer at Six Flags New England which opened in 2014 at a height of just over 400 feet tall, just stealing away the previous record from the Sky Screamer at Six Flags over Texas installed the year before at 400 feet. So if this latest rumor is true, you can expect one just a bit taller to go into Six Flags Magic Mountain for 2018, and while I don't know the exact location where it may go, we did get a rumor claiming that it just might go somewhere up on the park's central mountain, not far from the Sky Tower, which would actually make the ride seem even taller. Maybe a new flat, and the park's 20th coaster? Sounds awesome.
  14. I am becoming rather obsessed with this coaster.
  15. There is competition in the area but SFMM doesn't really compete with it. They're the coaster park of the SoCal market. That's what they've chosen to be. I think what he means is that with KBF restoring Ghost Rider into the amazing ride it now is and adding a dive coaster in addition to their Accelerator and B&M Invert, SFMM may have more coasters, but may no longer be the only park in Southern California you consider when thinking thrill coasters - especially when you consider KBF has so much more to offer than coasters. It used to be KBF is a better park but SFMM has the thrill rides, now KBF has both, SFMM just has more thrill rides. Right. Also, although the SFMM and Knotts don't directly compete, both parks do compete for media coverage and need it to drive season pass sales for the next year.
  16. ^ Given the recent announcements, I don't think the fabrication projects count among those 7 projects that were mentioned. These are 7 stone cold RMC projects, meaning there is one more left to be announced! Another Raptor clone? A ground up coaster? World's first T-Rex?
  17. Unless they just announced a price hike in their season passes, they'll probably be fine. Their low investment, high returns strategy seems to be working for them. True. But I get the feeling that strategy isn't going to work much longer at a hard core thrill park like SFMM, especially with the competition in the area.
  18. Cedar Point does it again. This may be the most epic coaster announcement...ever.
  19. Why start now? Because their attendance and season pass sales may depend on it!
  20. Really nice addition to the Boardwalk! Great job Knotts.
  21. I'm just as impressed with the airtime on this thing as I am SV. Maybe more so.
  22. I know what the ride is...but as awesome as it's probably going to be, I can't help but WISH we were getting an Intamin Wing coaster like Skyrush.
  23. I'm thinking that whatever they're doing won't require any sort of construction until next April/May anyway. That leads me to think Sky Screamer/Giant Discovery or some other sort of flat. The year they upgraded Superman and added Green Lantern it was quiet like this as well. The California parks have done a good job of keeping leaks from happening this year. Knotts announces Wed, and people still can't quite agree what it is.
  24. ^ Agreed. I'd gladly pay more for a better experience. so the whole, "But their passes are cheap so you should just deal with whatever crap they throw at you" doesn't fly with me. I spend more time at Knotts and Disney. Just because Walmart is cheap doesn't mean I want to shop there.
