  1. Just another quick opinion on Fuji-Q's coasters: I liked Takabisha a lot, didn't experience much head-banging at all (two rides, once in the front row, once in a rear row). And the hold at the top of the beyond-vertical drop was a kick. But I do agree that the pacing would have been MUCH better with the launch in the middle, not at the beginning. Definitely a "B" ride. But Dodonpa and Eggy-J were stupid-awesome. I had sort of lost my love for 4D coasters, but figured I'd suffer through Fuji-Q's just because, what the hell, we were there and it opened. I'm glad I did. The coaster gods were indeed smiling upon us that day because I got two insanely amazing rides out of that thing, no really bruising roughness, just forceful, exhilarating maneuvers from start to finish. And Dodonpa still has the (admittedly tiny) impression of my manhood in the lap restraints, I'm sure. Might as well add here that these entire two weeks were just about perfect. I can't say enough good things about this trip.
  2. That loop appears to be the only one in the world that is wider than it is tall. The "engineering" for that ride is just completely wrong. And how tiny are those cars?! Like there's not enough hardship in that part of the world already...
  3. Agreed with many comments above: this is easily one of the best TPR videos ever. Wow. It's really too bad this concept did not find a market. The ride experience does look utterly amazing.
  4. More great stuff! That "Mayan Adventure" SLC does look far better than it should. This picture made my day. The look on KidTums' face is priceless.
  5. I love all the lush green landscaping around G5; that is awesome.
  6. ^My thoughts as well; it's VEGAS, for crying out loud. But seriously, I think this would be a pretty amazing experience. The changing views would be spectacular. Fingers crossed...
  7. This looks like a pretty cool park! Looking forward to more! What's this track in the upper left? Looks like a mouse coaster on top of a building?
  8. Thanks so much for this highly anticipated update! The Fun House looks more spectacular than ever, a real work of art. And they think the first dark ride might be done late this summer, too? That's incredible news. Continued success, everybody!
  9. I'm thinking of all the times I've been in this area and never gotten to Conneaut Lake, and I'm kicking myself hard for that. Devil's Den is A MUST. (Even thought the gum wall thing literally turns my stomach.) And, yes, Kennywood is a little corner of heaven.
  10. Loved all the Disney updates! I had to laugh that fate conspired to make Captain Eo your first ride at the park. The snow shots, the parade shots, so much great stuff. (Genie looks amazing!)
  11. Great question, and I love some of the answers! Here are two that came to mind right away for me: the wind-up sound of the S&S air-launched coasters in China (only experienced on video) makes my heart race. LOVE that sound. And back when Magic Mountain had the seals in the water show tanks near Ninja, when the trains would come to the final stop at the bottom of the lift, and they'd make that barking sound, and the seals would bark back? Loved that so much. (Also, that video of the six-year-old girl riding American Eagle is adorable. She looks so scared at first, but once it's over, she's all smiles.)
  12. It may kill me, but I am SO riding this. Brilliant. This is like the mutant love-child of Superman (EFK) and Lex Luthor.
  13. This all looks like a million bucks, and with a new Tilt-A-Whirl?! SWEET! Fun Spot is definitely on the list the next time I'm in Orlando. Some of the dusk shots are beautiful; I love that time of day in Florida.
  14. That half-buried inversion deal? SWEET! This layout looks diabolical. Awesome shots; thanks!
  15. Damn, this thing does look weird and awesome. I'm very overdue to make a first pilgrimage to The Dells. Great shots; thanks!
  16. This is an amazing thread, so much fun! (Somebody way smarter than me could write a very cool paper on this expression of the primal, universal fascination with being swallowed by a giant beast.) I'm amazed by the examples you all have come up with.
  17. Awesome report, and it's so great to finally see all the new goodies inside the mountain. Looks FANTASTIC. Gotta get back down there soon. (And it was so great to finally meet you both, and Dan, at the event!)
  18. I've long been curious about this park, and this is the first time I've learned that the flume has an underground section; that sounds fantastic. And a fun house, too? Sold.
  19. ^Oh, I love SFOT, and will be visiting it again and again till the day I die. LOVE this park. But as much as I've gotten over a pretty severe case of acrophobia (Windseeker helped that happen), those little chairs, 400 feet up? No, thank you. I'll just go ride NTAG again, or something.
  20. Rode a 150-foot-tall version at SFDK. Managed to not soil my Underoos, but only just barely. The odds I'll ever ride this are about 1 in several hundred million. But it does look great!
  21. If RMC were a public company, I would buy every last share I could afford. They are rocking it so hard, it's insane. GORGEOUS photos! Everything looks tremendous, the trains, the new logo, that symbol on the lift, THE TRAINS... Next year, without fail, I'm hitting this park. Has to happen.
  22. Glad to hear you had a generally positive experience at this park! These shots of Dodonpa and Takashiba look great!
  23. The exterior of that American Adventure ride completely cracks me up. They didn't even TRY to make it look "American." Or "good."
  24. At a glance, this does sound interesting, and I'm sure, some day, we'll have a fully interactive, immersive, day-long, theme park/adventure experience. (Universal is taking a big step towards this with their two-park Harry Potter deal.) Execution is everything and it's hard to tell from that site just how they plan on executing their ideas. I do like the "Matrix-y" Alternet zone concept. It's all VERY ambitious, though. Yeah, Fort Myers???
  25. ^Ditto! This promises to be an amazing event. It's a perfect way to jump-start this year's Halloween season, nice and early.
