  1. It probably has to do something with the door effect in the beginning. Exactly right, there is a big thick chain and a big eletric motor and some gearing stuff that moves the room around on its axis for the door effect. After I posted that I was thinking about that as well. My bad as I totally forgot that effect used a chain. Technically however it's only the walls that move and not the entire room per-se.
  2. ^That would only be fun without the magnetic brakes.
  3. In terms of efficiency, I will say that the X2 crew has stepped up and are doing a great job at getting trains out. I waited about 20-25 minutes this past Sunday and they were dispatching trains when the other train was coming through the transfer. This was being done consistently. Problem is that this isn't the norm throughout the park.
  4. Indy does have a chain anywhere in the attraction.
  5. ^But the cost of steel is so cheap!
  6. My point being, CW & B&M were content with the final design. With Dragon Fire underneath the brake run I'm curious as to where they would put said extension of their design.
  7. ^Your mechanical engineering degree and in-depth analysis of the steel industry's pricing structure back up this theory?
  8. It must be an awesome feeling for the park's themeing design team when it's all said and done and they can sit back and watch the guests having a great time and admiring your work. Right behind Black Mamba, this has to be the most heavily themed invert. Amazing job. Too bad I'll never make it to this park.
  9. ^^^My road to success always leads me to the back of the park at opening. I usually do things in this order: Goliath > Colossus > Scream > Batman > GL > Riddler's > Apocalypse > Goldrusher > Ninja and then hit X2 and Tatsu last. Throw Rev and Viper in the mix anytime during the day as they rarely have a line longer than 5 minutes. This method won't be ideal for everyone but works wonders for me and I'm usually done around 3 or 4.
  10. Divertical is looking great and I'm an Intamin fanboy to the max, but to be fair Mack already had the "Water Coaster" (with and without elevator lift) design since '98. Mack maybe would've built one at this height if a park would've requested it.
  11. Thanks for the pics Robb. I see some lowlife already took the liberty of tagging it up.
  12. As a shift lead at XC at KBF that was the biggest cause of excessive loading times. That and loose articles but more times than not it was due to the belts and guests not being able to fasten them or sitting on them.
  13. Those trains are sexy! The projections in here are sure to be stunning.
  14. ^^^^ If by "bashing" you mean pointing out things that need to be fixed to make your park presentable, then yes, we are bashing.
  15. X's opening summer was a disaster. Wouldn't open 'til noon every day and when it did open it'd have a 3 hour wait. Summer of 2001 it seemed like Deja Vu and X were never both open on the same day. If I got to the park and X was closed, you could pretty much guarantee Deja was open.
  16. People free their schedules for free events. Day of week is regardless. They could have the event at 3am and people would still flock.
  17. ^ They removed an old structure that was rotting away...................I applaud them for that. That applause is abruptly interrupted by the following: The bathrooms are disgusting, I feel like I'm going catch hepatitis just walking by them. Trashcans are over flowing in the parking lot 10 minutes after the lot is open..........how does this happen? Because they didn't have park services empty the damn trash cans from the day (or 2, or 3) before. To add insult to injury, the trash cans "look" like they haven't been washed down in a few years. Granted it is a trash can so it's going to have some filth by default but KBF, Disney, Universal etc wash down their trash cans every week or so. At Disney you will even see custodial cast members spending 5-10 minutes on 1 trash can wiping it down!! This isn't a rant about just the trash cans, it baffles me that the park misses little things like this. A guest isn't going to come in and say "I sure am glad they removed that old monorail station." But a guest IS going to say "Why is there trash all over the queue lines? Why are the bathrooms disgusting?" Jay Thomas had the park changing for the better. Period. Ever since he left the park has been going back to the way it used to be.
  18. If something is free people will come out of the woodwork. Anyone remember this train wreck? It wasn't free technically but damn near. On another note, X-Flight's trains looks great!
  19. ^^ Boats on Pilgrim's Plunge don't articulate.
  20. Love the waterfall into the pit.
  21. The lack of weight may be the issue with the speed....or lack thereof. Once they start testing with water dummies maybe it'll speed up.
