  1. The themeing looks awesome, but the station has been looking strange to me for a while. Its nice to see walls come up, and the orange sides are bold, but the rock columns and tin roof siding look kind of like 70's relics in the middle of a bunch of amazing 2011 sculpted set pieces. I'm curious to see the completed section!
  2. I dont know how opening day is, but I went the first sunday of the season last year and the park was practically empty! Short (15 minutes maybe) line for volcano, and waits for intimidator were at times less than 5 minutes.
  3. I'm excited for the people who get to ride this beast in full tilt who didn't get the opportunity before!
  4. Is there any reason this poll seems so heated? Screamscape, ace, tpr, and others are pushing for one result of the other (pretty much all for the carowinds version, save TPR. Are the results expected to have big returns for the park?
  5. So are there any days that remain that could be expected to be relatively empty?
  6. I cant wait to ride the section between the second and third hills at full speed again, with the strap restraints no less! That was perhaps my favorite part of the ride, the speed, forces, and crazy direction changes.
  7. The restraints were talked about last week in the hard hat tour. Mark rose said in one video that the restraints would not be fabric, but would be a soft foam not seen in any train to date. This could be wrong and it could be regular hard Intamin foam, but It was pretty recently that a new, soft foam was mentioned.
  8. Hoorah! Hopefully the drop stays clean and the ride is trimless before the third hill again. I'll be excited to ride it in that state again, and to see the reactions of those who only got to ride the trimmed version before.
  9. Are you serious!? Happened to me twice. Intense.
  10. If you look closely, the otsr straps are shown on two of the riders, very inconsistent.
  11. I know this makes me a douche, but if that cheese was hot enough to do permanent and sizable skin damage (I don't know the size of the injuries, but the article did say "permanent"), then the disney corporation is absolutely to blame and the family deserves compensation. I know its easy to say "nachos should be hot!", but it is a food service product and there should be strict upper limits temperature-wise. Burns are terrible and disfiguring. Can you imagine spilling some cheese on your lap, experiencing serious pain, ending up in the hospital, and having a large scar there for the remainder of your life? This could have been prevented if the temperature of the served food was taken seriously.
  12. I say, the wackier and more impractical thing thing looks, the better. This is a six flags park, not the louvre, and I think that people are gonna enjoy the out-of-your-mind appearance of this killer-looking ride. Besides, they already went for the bright red rails..
  13. I do believe the park has been upfront with the ride having OTSRs since the announcement. Also, pictures from today do indeed show the hill after the tower goes over the skyride! Half of that hill, the first trench, and the drop off the tower are all the track are all thats left to be completed.
  14. I forgot about antz! That movie was excellent, the best dreamworks ever made.
  15. I thought that How to train your dragon was pretty bad. "The dragons are really kittens and the adults are too stubborn to notice!" Precocious wise-talking teen hero, and it all culminates in a pointless boss battle? I know its for children, but there are children's movies I do like. Disney animation has been good, and Sony's 'Cloudy with a chance of meatballs' was excellent. So I guess dreamworks is just the bottom of the barrel in my eyes, maybe alongside Fox animation.
  16. Listen to my Electro-Jam.
  17. Its hard to see whats going on speed-wise after the MCBR, (except for that tilted air hill, which is looking tasty), but the first half is looking like it has insane speed and insane air.
  18. That train is looking huge!
  19. I've been beaten up by a stand up or two, but I feel like the whole "ball crushing" thing sounds ridiculous to me. Have you never ridden a bike? are you pulling the bicycle seat as far up as you can before departure, or are your knees buckling during the ride? Its hard for me to imagine a situation in which your body weight is actually resting on your privates...
  20. As a tall person, the Hypersonic restraints were murder on my shins. I haven't been on powder keg, but hopefully they aren't taking the same route.
  21. I used to think Intamin had rather garish supports (Volcano...), but with I305 and now cheetah hunt, their current approach is spectacular. You can see in these pictures one superfluous support rising about 20 feet above the track, and from more recent pics, there are two more themeing-only supports attached to the apex.
  22. http://www.coastercrew.net/intheloop.php?page=play&file=386 On this podcast ("In the Loop") tonight, John Pagel (Public Relations from Kings Dominion) announced that the turn is being widened, with the goal of removing the trims from the hill all together. The whole turn has been removed as of now, and no track has yet arrived.
