  1. Kennywood almost purchased an SLC back in the mid 2000's, but decided against. It was mentioned at an ACE event at the park and the management was booed off the stage. Fortunately, we got Sky Rocket instead. I've got a lot more Kennywood facts if anyone wants to hear them.
  2. ^^ Love that Dragon Mountain shirt! I wish they still sold those. I would have totally bought one when I was there last year.
  3. The only ride I have a problem with them on is Maverick. I get the crap beat out of me almost every time I ride it. KK's didn't bother me, but I did think they were out of place.
  4. ^ According to RCDB, there's an "unknown" supposed to open on New Year's Day. Source
  5. I absolutely love airtime and the more the better! One of my favorite coasters for airtime is Skyliner at Lakemont. It's an airtime machine (especially in the front and back seats). The first time I rode it, it caught me by surprise. I thought I was going to fall out!
  6. As long as they properly drain the water out of them, I'm fine with them. I don't want my feet to splash in nasty water.
  7. I had accepted a job there a few years back, but I had to decline it at the last minute due to personal reasons. I was supposed to be on the Mean Streak crew for 2010.
  8. ^ I don't understand CF's obsession with hawks. We've got Thunderhawk, Firehawk, Nighthawk, and now Steelhawk. I'm just wondering how terrible the next one they come up with will sound.
  9. I want one of those Racer shirts! Those are awesome! The John Allen quote pretty much sums it up.
  10. I watched KK launch with the turbo mode last year. I've never seen a ride like it fly over the top of the top hat as fast as it did. I was on the ride right after, and we almost didn't make it over. In fact, we almost stopped at the top!
  11. This TR is great! It has inspired me to begin the planning of a Germany trip for next year!
  12. ^ Where did you hear that it'll be a B&M? I figured it would be a knock-off Vekoma mini-SLC.
  13. I rode Iron Wolf as Apocalypse at SFA and I didn't think it was all that bad. I'll take it over Green Lantern any day.
  14. After the wooden boomerang, we'll have the wooden SLC. What a scary thought.
  15. I've only ridden KK once and I didn't find it to be rough, but I was in the second seat. The only time I found TTD to be extremely unenjoyable was at night during the ERT on CoasterMania a few years ago. It was so shaky that I all I could see was a maroon and yellow blur. Never again will I ride it at night.
  16. ^ I'll keep an eye out for those next time. I always love learning about hidden things like this.
  17. Where is this at? I don't believe I've ever seen it.
  18. These are TECHNICALLY on-ride photos. From the Mexico Tour. Taken by Robb on my camera. Getting my #200 on Superman at Six Flags Mexico These two look kind of familiar. One of my favorite pictures from the tour. Tornado at Selva Magica.
  19. Top Thrill Dragster's morning operations are dependent on the prior day's weather and operations. If the weather was bad before the park opened or if it broke down the day before, they'll open it at half-capacity and gradually add more people as the ride warms up.
  20. Didn't RMC put Topper Track on Timber Wolf at WOF in the last few years? I think this is the only time CF has ever worked with RMC.
  21. I stopped judging POVs after I kept getting my judgements wrong. Ravine Flyer II looked so boring in its POV, but that ride is incredible in real life. I watch POVs a lot, but I always go onto every coaster with an open mind. Even the ones I've ridden a hundred times before.
  22. I don't care how intense it is compared to Raptor. It looks like it's going to be a great ride regardless of the forces on it.
  23. The Exterminator at Kennywood was originally planned over 20 years ago. The Alton Mouse was supposed to be used for this ride, but they decided to place it at Idlewild instead. It wasn't until Crazy Mouse at Dinosaur Beach opened that Kennywood found another interesting wild mouse design. Kennywood executives went to the park and rode it with a blindfold on to see how it would be in the dark. They finally purchased the Reverchon mouse that is there currently. The building is also on the very first piece of land Kennywood purchased after the original land was acquired in 1899.
  24. When Sky Rocket first opened, I really didn't like the look of ANY of it (especially the flat-tracked parts). It's grown on me though as I've gone to the park over the last few years. I do like the way they look on the El Locos.
