  1. Trying the IPA from Ægir tonight. This one was quite good, a good combination of fruity and bitterness/dryness. I liked it!
  2. ^Good to hear that it's not normal, it seems like it would be a bit scary! I must add that there are some really cool views of Steel Force and Hydra from that log flume!
  3. We already had the wettest July in history. Now we are getting close to the August record as well. It's been a brilliant summer LOL!!
  4. ^Well, I still have a couple of years, don't I??
  5. ^My mind is blown.... Here's one of me on Saturday. My beard is not quite on the same level as yours.... yet!
  6. I got curious so I watched a of Thunder Creek Mountain. I've never seen a log flume hit a turn with so much speed as this one does after the big drop. I also think it's the first time I've seen a multi-angled lift hill...
  7. "Rallar" Amber Ale from Ægir. Not a huge fan of this one, but damn I just love these cans so much. Having the entire top of the can come off is just pure brilliant!
  8. I mean, isn't this only the second installation of a Mondial Inferno at all? The only other example of this ride I've ever known of is the traveling Airwolf. I've heard it's one of the craziest flat rides ever designed. Well, according to the German wikipedia site there has been three made as far as I can tell. Google Translate: And I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a Chinese knock-off or two.... Edit: There is also an inverted version called Diablo. http://mondialrides.com/rides/transportable/diablo
  9. In regards to Soaring Timbers, will this be the first park installation of this type of ride? I have only seen it featured on German fairgrounds.
  10. Some park..... somewhere..... sometime next year..... probably!
  11. Yesterday I won 1000 NOK (about $120) on a bottle return machine. To explain, in Norway you pay an extra fee on bottles, and when you return the bottles you get the money back. However there is also the option on many of the machines to press the Red Cross button and partake in a lottery instead of getting the money back. You can win up to 1 million NOK. All the profits go to Red Cross. I have giving Red Cross my "bottle money" for years, so I do not feel bad for keeping this win!
  12. That was great! I always enjoy a trip report that starts with boobs in the first picture! I also approve of the amount of Vikings represented in the park!
  13. So my local brewery (7 Fjell) came up with this one. It's "The Donald - Ignorant IPA", which they market as "not being a real IPA". The name and label of the beer is obviously for comedic effect. It's a decent beer, but not up there with the best from 7 Fjell. However it's been spreading rapidly around social media so I suspect it will sell out rather quickly as people (like myself) will buy one or two just for fun. The label also has a rather long text which is not exactly pro-Donald to put it mildly, so to keep this from possibly becoming a political debate I will stick to showing the bottom of the label only. Note! The "Enjoy with" is found on all the bottles from 7 Fjell, however normally the first two lines are related to food and only the third line has something humorous about it. This is also the first label I have seen which is not written in Norwegian.
  14. Been sampling some beers from Ægir Brewery, a craft brewery located in Flåm, Norway. Those I've tried so far has been quite good, I particularly liked their session IPA. Looking forward to trying more from this brewery. Another thing I absolutely loved was the design of their cans. Not only do they look fantastic, but they have a different design on top so when you open the can the whole top comes off, and you can drink it directly from the can and still get all the wonderful aromas while you drink it.
  15. I heard they're already having problems with the launch...
  16. Awesome report, thanks for sharing! I love the sunset picture of Flying Aces!
  17. I would sooooo love to run over a clown with a bumper car....
  18. Yeah! Problem is that we have no other "good parks" to compensate. Tusenfryd is the only park in Norway which has something to offer for coaster enthusiasts, the remaining parks are all small parks aimed at families. Well, the visit to Tusenfryd was the day after Kolmården, I just wasn't planning to do a trip report from this park. But I think this discussion is fine in this thread, it was from the same trip afterall. (I edited the topic sub-title slightly to reflect that ) Actually I wasn't planning to visit Tusenfryd at all, until Bryan messaged me their trip plans and I decided to meet up with them. So yeah, thanks a lot Bryan!
  19. You forgot to mention that they spent 10 minutes swapping the trains as we were halfway through the line. Yes that's correct, they added a second train, but removed the first train from the ride, meaning that they continued with one-train operation until we were nearly at the station. It should also be mentioned that with the line for Supersplash having been closed off, we decided to go ride Thor's Hammer (dark ride in the same area) as the line for this was open (it said on the sign that this ride would also close at 5:30). As we were almost ready to ride the girl who was operating the ride informed us that she had closed off the line too late, and would have to fill the ride vehicles to max capacity (six riders per car), meaning our group of four had to split up. I guess she had been ordered to close off the ride at 5:30... The Speedmonster crew has been pretty good on all my visits to Tusenfryd, and the ride has always been running two trains. The only example of bad operation I have seen on Speedmonster was last year when they closed off the line early and then had to re-open the line as they realized there would be no riders left to ride 20 minutes before the park closed. Overall I think it's a sad situation, because Tusenfryd has the potential to be a good park. It has a very nice location, and a decent ride selection. But the poor operations just seems to ruin everything. The whole park just seems to be understaffed in every department. I don't want to blame the ride operators, because when it's the same pretty much throughout the entire park, and for several years in a row, you know the root cause for the bad operations lies with the park management...
  20. Eek!week. I love it. Best name for a fright-fest EVER!!
  21. Yes, the cable car safari was awesome! And a little bit scary on the high bits as it was quite windy on the day of my visit. One thing I really liked is how quiet it was, as opposed to noisy diesel trucks driving through the animal exhibitions. I felt that it had minimum impact on the animals. All the enclosures were also really large, which is good. Let's just say that Tusenfryd was trying really hard to make their operations as shitty as possible that day.... (which to be fair wasn't much different from my visit last year)
  22. Looks like you had a great time! I love Liseberg, one of my favorite parks. Great ride selection, great scenery and awesome operations! I do agree with you about the launches on Helix, I also wish they could have been a bit stronger. Still a great ride though! Thanks for sharing!
  23. ^Yeah, Kolmården really is in an amazing location! The view from the top of the lift of Wildfire has to be one of the greatest views from a coaster ever! It would have been really sad to miss out on such an amazing ride, so great that we both got to ride! As for Tusenfryd, I don't think any TR could describe how "awesome" our day was...
  24. ^Thanks! Yes, it did go a lot faster than it did during the cold morning runs! I edited my trip report slightly to reflect that. As for which seat I prefer, it's definitely the backseat. You really have something to look forward to. Just make sure that if it feels slow in the morning there is no reason to feel disappointed, as it will become a lot faster throughout the day. Have fun!
