^^^^^^ Congratulations on the pass. I hope she loves the park as much as I did at that age. I'm sure she will. They have way more great rides than they did when I first started going there when they only had three major coasters. According to the parks website, Batman, Deja Vu and Ninja are currently closed. Did you notice any coasters closed other than those three? ^^^^ I rode that coaster when it was the Clown Coaster on my first visit to the park in 1983. I have not been on it since. Same goes for the Timberline Twister on my first visit to KBF, also in 1983.

The park is having the "I Heart Haiti Kids" benefit concert today. They updated their concert information on their website yesterday to say that the concert will now be in the Magic Moments Theater instead of the Golden Bear Theater and will go on "Rain or Shine". The parks website also shows that they are open today. The park has been closed one Saturday and one Sunday this year due to rain. I'm going to the park tomorrow.

I went to Scandia for the first time in Nov, 09. I enjoyed the Screamer very much. It's an air time monster. After I rode it I wished I would have gone to the park sooner. It does only have 5 cars now. It will probably be a while before I ever go back but we did have fun in the two hours we spent there. Nice to hear that the Cliff Jumper is a good ride.

If you're talking about the Motel 6 right off of I-5, my parents and I stayed there June of 1988 when I was 12 years old. We stayed there on a Sunday night after going to SFMM that day and they let me ditch school and go to the park again on Monday. From the time I was about 10 years old until I finished high school my parents used to let me ditch school once or twice a year so we could go to SFMM on a school day so there wouldn't be any lines. My parents were always cool about that and it sure didn't hurt that my dad is also a coaster enthusiast.

^^^^^ I can't stand her either. Whenever one of her stories come on I change the channel for a few minutes. On the hotness scale, I vote for Tanith Belbin.

Magic Mountain is open daily until Sept. 6 which is Labor Day. After that they are only open weekends and school holidays. Here's the link to their calendar. http://www.sixflags.com/magicmountain/info/parkinfo.aspx Have a great trip.

I went on the Screamin' Swing one time in 2005 to see what it was like since I had never been on it before. It was the worst $5 I've ever spent at a park. It was way too short and not very much fun. Even on crowded days I have not seen very many people ride it. As long as it is an upcharge attraction I will never ride it again and will not miss it.

Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?
austinlee replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I sat in the front row the first time I rode X too. The first drop was the first time I had been scared of a coaster since I first started riding in the early 80's. -
The closure dates for Xcelerator have been changed on a regular basis since it closed. Every month they say it will be closed until the end of the current month. Sometime each month, usually near the end, they change the date to show that it will be closed until the end of the next month. In my opinion the dates listed are basically meaningless until we find out for sure that the ride has reopened.

Thank you. Yes, that's it. -
Austin is my middle name and Lee is the middle name of my mother who recently passed away. She used to enjoy listening to me tell her about all my park visits, even though she didn't ride herself, and my screen name is meant to be a small tribute to that, without using too much real personal information.

Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?

I couldn't agree more. X/X2 is my number one coaster too and that first drop is amazing, especially when the seats flip forward and you hang there for a couple seconds before you drop. The only coaster I have ever felt unsafe on is the traveling coaster which is used at the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa, CA. I rode it in the mid 90's and it was so unstable that the entire structure shook back and forth every time a train went around. Sorry but I don't remember the name and couldn't find a good picture of it. -
^^ Batman is also closed right now but is scheduled to reopen on 3/7. So if the schedule holds up it should be open when you go on 3/13. ^^^^ That is what I am the most curious about too. If the pass is valid on everything I will use it on X2. If is can only be used on Regular Q-bot rides I will use it on Deja Vu since it usually has one of the longest lines on busy days other than X2 and Terminator.

Screamscape has been updated to show that the first reward is a skip the line pass good for one ride. This would still be helpful since I will most likely use it when I visit the park during Summer Vacation. It's still a nice thing to get after only one visit. http://www.screamscape.com/html/industry_news.htm#SixFlags

I am curious about this too for the same reasons. A free Q-bot seems like something they would give after the 4th or 5th visit, not the first. A pass for one ride would be a nice reward after one visit too. If it was a free rental like the Xtreme Pass holders get, I wonder what would happen since I already have an Xtreme Pass.

According to Screamscape, Six Flags has announced the rewards for the Funatics program. Here's the link. http://www.screamscape.com/html/industry_news.htm#SixFlags 1. Free Flash Pass 2. Free refills on the Sports Bottle 3. Free parking pass or upgrade 4. Bring a friend free pass 5. 20% coupon for 2011 Season Pass On my last visit there was a sign which said the Funatics program would be valid for any visit from 5/15-9/6. Assuming this is accurate I would be very happy about the Free Flash Pass after the first visit. I am currently planning to go on 5/19, with other visits before that, and this would allow me to get a Free Flash Pass which I could use during Summer Vacation when the park is crowded. The next three rewards after that would not do me much good. I don't use the Sports Bottle, I already have free parking with my Xtreme Play Pass and my friends don't need free tickets. The 20% discount on a 2011 Season Pass would be very nice, but it is unlikely that I will visit 5 times during that time period. Right now I am planning 3 visits during that time, probably in mid May, late June and early August.

The best days to go would be anytime from 3/22-3/25. Those are all school days which means most of the rides will be walk ons. Even though they close at 6:00 you will get on more rides than you will on a weekend with longer lines. Fridays during the school year are usually good too, but not in this case since 3/26 is Physics Day and that event is usually crowded. Sundays are better than Saturdays in my experience too. If you have to go on a weekend I think 3/14 is the best day. 3/7 is another Physics Day which will probably be crowded. 3/28 is during Spring Break, which is one of the worst times to go to the park. On 3/21 they close at 9:00 which usually means they expect large crowds. If you have to go on Saturday I would suggest 3/6 or 3/13. 3/20 is another Physics Day and is also the first Saturday the park closes at 10:00 which could mean they expect crowds to increase. 3/27 is a Saturday during Spring Break and the park will probably be absolutely packed.

I rode Goliath for the first time in May, 2000 and the helix seems just as intense to me now as it did then. A couple of my favorite stupid comments from the Facebook page. Q: question too... my friend wants to volunteer too and doesn't have a season pass yet... should I get him a ticket for that day? A: the park is closed to the public on these dates. You will not need to pay to get in to volunteer as an extra. As if you would have to buy a ticket to be a volunteer. Isn't that an oxymoron? Q: I am really interested in helping out in any way with filming the project? maybe be a production assistant? Wouldn't those positions already be filled? They are only looking for extras.

^^ I would recommend this order. 1. X2 2. Terminator 3. Ninja 4. Superman 5. Gold Rusher 6. Colossus 7. Goliath 8. Revolution If you get to X2 fast enough you should be able to get on before the line is terrible. By going directly to Terminator after that you can skip ahead of a lot of people who go right from X2 to Tatsu, Viper or Revolution and the line for Terminator may not have built up very much yet. Ninja usually does not have much of a line and if you go on Superman early you should be able to get on faster than if you come back later and have to wait in a very slow moving long line. By then people probably would have spread to the right side of the park on a busy day and I would just hit Gold Rusher, Colossus, Goliath and Revolution in order. Goliath usually has a fast moving line and Revolution is usually shorter later in the day. Ride the flats last since they almost never have lines. The park will probably be crowded, so don't count on many short lines after your first few rides.

I have always renewed my pass online or at the park. Last November I paid at the ticket booth with no wait then went to the Processing Center and got a new picture taken with no wait. I could not renew online for 2010 because I have been using the same picture since 2006 and when I tried to renew online I got a message that I could not do that because my picture needed to be updated. I have never tried to renew on the phone, but I would recommend renewing at the park. You save the $10 shipping fee and get your pass handed to you right away. ^^^^^ I have found that Saturdays in Dec, Jan and Feb are usually pretty good days to visit but the rest of the year Saturdays are pretty crowded. I would really recommend a Flash Pass on an April Saturday but if you cannot get one, I totally agree with Elissa's plan. I have gone in that order many times and it usually works well. You would be better off to go on Sunday instead with or without a Flash Pass. If you don't get a Flash Pass, do not go during Spring Break.

^^^ One time I tried to use the coupon in the Value Book where you get a free regular soda with a combo purchase, but the coupon was not valid at that location. The cashier didn't charge me for the soda and still gave me 25% off the meal. It cut about $6 off the total. ^^ I hate sushi myself but I've heard the taste is comparable to what you get in the packs that are sold in grocery stores. Everything else I've had at Food Etc. recently was not very good, except for Ben & Jerry's. I wish they still had the French Bread Pizza they had years ago. It was so much better than the Papa John's pizza which is sold at the park now. ^ I've noticed the same thing at the parking booths. It's nice that they don't have to fill out that form and have you sign it anymore. It keeps the line moving a little faster. At KBF it's been "swipe" and get right in for many years.
