  1. ^How are you getting goosebumps? Could somebody translate this new version of the code for me?
  2. That too, although you can also get 7 2012 1997 (year steel force opened). Which is kinda interesting considering the previous clue was a black and white photo of the steel force logo/eyes. Not sure how the 7 would fit in though. The other however, with the coaster statistics, is more likely. As for the 7, there are 5 wing coasters (including the one about to be constructed in China), so plus this one is 6. Maybe the 7 is a hint that Cedar Fair intends to build another wing coaster at another park. Maybe not this year, but if CF builds another one after this, and the one in China is constructed, there will be at least 7 (I say "at least" because other parks may order a wing coaster.) I was thinking of making a DT and SS tribute video, but I'll wait unti I can get pictures of the dismantling. Hopefully, I can get some pictures from Space Spiral until that, too, shuts down. Or, I could get one from the Giant Wheel (although I think that they don't like cameras on it.) Speaking of the demolition, I went recently (August 1) and got some pictures of the preparation. There was a large fence surrounding the ride, so you can not see. However, there is a large gap in the fencing, with only railings not unlike those put up temporarily during Halloweekends (I think?) Therefore, I could see what is going on. The fences former surrounding the entrance to the ride are removed, and there is wood and other crud stacked against supports, which I assume is part of the fence that is not erected. A sign says "Disaster Transport is closed and is being removed for future development. Space Spiral was closed, with maintenance workers all around it. I even saw some maintenance standing atop the cabin as it ascended and descended the tower, and I even saw some people on the ramps leading to the upper deck. Here are my visit pictures from my last two visits-This is kind of a general trip report, not just reporting of the demise of DT. 7/29 Dispatch Master Transport!!! Its not perfect due to it being a panorama, but its one of my best pics of the famous "Repair Bay" At full swing...literally, this is quite a steep swing! Swooping over the water.... The tallest and fastest impulse in the world, only at Cedar Point! This ride will be REJECTed from the park soon... RIP Dispatch Master Transport This sled isn't going to Alaska anytime soon... especially after the sun sets (This is from a 7/29 trip, if you don't remember). LOOP DEE LOOP!!!!!!!!! 8/1 Arrow goodness... or not-so-goodness. To be fair, Corkscrew offers some airtime on the hills, though. Space Spiral broken - again. Sorry, but my only pictures of the men on the cabin as the ride operates is on my camera, and I'm too lazy to get that, sorry! The mark of quality... 12E Employees on the upper deck? Wing coaster? 500 foot looping wooden water stand-up 4D 200mph launch beyond-vertical 12-inversion coaster? Which one is more logical... That door is the former entrance. Door enthusiasts, look here! Backstage Demolition Goodness! Fence piece? This is the wall erected around the ride site. Bolliger+Mabillard+Steel+Green Paint = THIS! The whole DT area was a dead zone, with even the food/drink place across from DT closed down.
  3. ^I rode it a few days ago in the second-to-back seat, and it wasn't that bad. The ride is really better this season.
  4. It does look that way. NoLimits Exchange. Look it up and click the "Message Board" link.
  5. I found a layout pic on the NoLimits forums, I'm not going to post it. SPOILER ALERT The final barrel roll looks like it ends in a turn.
  6. Maurer Sohne Skyloops - sort of, not really. This X-car in China that is in the testing phases appears to have a barrel roll - or at least a corkscrew that is close to a barrel roll. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSjjoFxjWfA
  7. Tunnel effects? Plural "effects"? The only effect I remember were the neon lights at the end, and maybe some normal lights at the beginning, but do those even count as effects? Was there anything else?
  8. I heard a story once (I think at CoasterMania) from Dick Kinzel. He said when DT was new (with the building and stuff), somebody came out and said something like "You got the name right, that ride is a disaster!" I would have liked it back then, because of the effects, (I wasn't born back then!) which were not functioning when the ride was decommissioned. I hope I can get some good views of the track being dismantled from Space Spiral before it too is demolished! BTW, I have a friend who I go to CP with sometimes. Like me, he is sort of a coaster enthusiast, and has even told me some facts I don't know (that Bizarro at SFGadv has two seats instead of 4 in the back row). He says Avalanche Run was enclosed because sand was blowing onto the track. Is this true? I doubt this, considering there is no sand blowing that I see now. Even if it was built on a sandy area, pictures show that the low parts of the track were on concrete.
  9. I saw the leak using Google Search and cache, but it was just a description. It had some info (The name included) , but I'd prefer to get permission to say the info.
  10. Under Paramount I would agree. Tomb Raider, Flight of Fear, and SOB were all certainly high risk/high reward installations and two of them failed rather miserably. Under Cedar Fair, especially over the next couple of years where we begin to see installations that were planned by current management, I would expect to see the vast majority of rides to be reliable, proven technologies. Don't forget the Bat! I agree with the lift sound, that was pretty loud. In my opinion, SoB was a great concept, but about the poorest way to execute it.
  11. I remember Brian Edwards telling somebody asking him a question that DT will be scrapped, but nobody believes me in the CP thread.
  12. ^You might as well rename Magnum, El Toro, NTAG, Maverick, and any coaster with airtime "GP Danger Simulator".
  13. I read somewhere that SD2K has 2 lift chains, is that right? Like one starts and one ends halfway up the lift.
  14. That layout I figured is still OK with a steel coaster, in my opinion. I think Premier Rides lap bars do that a lot, I think you are usually supposed to put your feet under the bottom part of the lap bar and it feels like it pushes down as the lap bar itself is pushed down.
  15. ^^^Are you talking about the RCCA coasters? RCDB says they are still in business - but Wikipedia says RCCA is defunct. Somebody send that RCCA info to the RCDB - I just sent the news about SoB and I don't want to appear as sending too much information/spamming. I've only been on SoB out of all the RCCA coasters, and that was several years ago. It was rough, but - and this might sound GP-ish - it didn't ride good, but it is at least partly made up for by the fact that you are going nearly 80mph on a woodie and riding the rails of the fastest, tallest ride of its kind. Great idea, poor execution. I'd love to see a topper track woodie go up inspired by SoB's layout. For example, they could make a hill into the Rose Bowl, then have a peak for airtime, before entering the bowl on the other side, going clockwise instead of counterclockwise. I have a diagram for a potential idea for an RMC coaster - topper track or Iron Horse - which could be placed on the site of SoB. It shares a modified Rose Bowl, MCBR, and loop with the original SoB, and ditches the second helix in favor of a second out-and back run, placing a smaller helix later in the layout. I used two tools to make it - Google Earth and MS Paint . Just a concept - not based on reality.
  16. Except by then, there might be another inverting hyper-woodie - RMC's already nearly got a rolling inversion on a woodie, and loops are not far behind - in fact, if they can do a roll, a loop is probably easier. And I think a hyper-woodie is plausible with topper track.
  17. Good idea in GP language- "You should remake the son of the beast as metal and make it an anneversery" Now that I think of it, a good layout inspired by the old ride using Iron Horse or topper track could be put there, and if it was, say, 2015, that would be the 15th anniversary of the original opening.
  18. Am I the only one who thinks this is sad? I feel bad for not waiting to ride it in 2009, and its been SO long. Plus, we are losing the only hyper-woodie in the WORLD! On the other hand, they've taken long enough to make a decision. Which leads to the obvious question - Will there be a Grandson of Beast ?
  19. ^That makes sense, considering the lift is a continuous speed. However, isn't the lift itself a block, and therefore only one ride car/ train should go onto on at once? The only coaster I've seen this happen on is DT, and a video of La Vibora. By the way, the last brake on Magnum's transfer track has one blue clamp and one orange one. Was a part from Corkscrew used?
  20. Yeah, I doubt it would be easy to sneak a camera on it with bright light and two MCBRs which might have security cams. Does anybody know why Intamin Bobsleds can have two cars on the lift at once? When DT catches the lift, there is usually another car on top of the lift.
  21. Yesterday, I went on Disaster Transport 4 times. It is clearly in the process of decommissioning - the spaceship-looking prop in the center of the helix is not lit up, and the streamers separating the loading and unloading platforms are gone. The "Repair Bay" is lit up, and the machine in the center has its lights off. I like to look around and see the props that are not lit up - and probably haven't been for years. I see two besides the spaceship- The bottom of the first drop has a spider-looking thing to the right before you enter the first tube - tunnel The first MCBR before the drop into the helix has a dragon-looking painting on the wall before the drop. By the way, between the first-drop and the the helix into the first MCBR, I think the track passes through the main room briefly (the main room being where the drop off the first MCBR is.) I hope somebody gets a lights-on POV for the last ride - that would be epic! I heard the lights WILL be on for the last ride - will they?
  22. FoF is a bit rough, but nothing too bad. I've only ridden with the lap bars. I forgot, Villian at Geauga Lake was one of the worst experiences I've had on a ride.
