B&M vs Intamin
Tmcdllr replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love both but I would vote Intamin hands down for the simple fact they push the limits more, and succeed, and some of their innovations are truly incredible. B&M is great but lately it seems they tend to play it safe (no 400' tall coaster yet?) and their clones have been done to death, which may not be their fault. Just my opinion. -
The support is already fixed. Are you telling me you thought the park was actually going to open it with just a strap holding the support in place? This is a ridiculous argument that everyone just needs to STFU about. The park was smart, they didn't stop construction and delay the ride while they waited to modify a support that wasn't completely needed yet. I'm done. I never said I thought the park would open and run the ride like that.... where exactly did you see those words?

I agree as CP wouldn't leak this kind of information just yet. There's no evidence that a pretzel loop would be part of the layout for this type of design. There's no evidence of anything. -
Great America hasn't had a real coaster open in over 10 years. You guys have no right to bitch about the name of it. They could call the thing "Coaster Man Dumping Waffle" and it would still be the best thing to happen to the park in most of your lifetimes. So, STFU about the name, already. Seriously. --Robb "Nuff said" Alvey I would be happy with "Coaster Man Taking A Waffle Dump"....

Strange that something like this would be "leaked" out so soon which makes it more of just a wild rumor. -
If that support was not attached at one end that end would be free to move and would as the coaster runs its course. Move it around enough and bolts can fail at the other end leading to a SERIOUS safety hazard. Even if the support for the remaining structure would not be affected there is still the possibility of something falling. I am no engineer either but it would seem that would be extremely dangerous and in this state if something were to happen as a result there would be plenty of lawsuits. That support is there for a reason and is supposed to be connected at both ends ( which they have done) otherwise it would not be there at all.

Wasn't there some california law mentioned way back in this topic that any ride that has inversions has to have OTSR's if it gets new trains or is modified? Or was that fake or just not apply to Six Flags and other bigger parks? This has been covered so many times I forget exactly but I believe it's a MM thing, mainly to keep insurance costs down.

You could almost count the 'non inverting' loop on SFDKs Superman as one. -

This, without a doubt, is proof the Pink's hot dog sign still rotates even when the park is closed... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESOrp59gFO0 -

That ampersand turn is probably one of the most beautiful looking elements B&M has ever built. -
