Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

If nothing else that reason right there totally makes it worth it! You are paying for a mini ERT session of your own which is completely awesome! -
Adding an "...ie" to the end of a coaster is reserved only for Cedar Point coasters. Maggie Millie Draggie Mavie I always thought Millennium Force should be nick named Milf, in which case Nessie and Milf would be the only acceptible coaster nick names in the world. MILF....are you sure about that?...lol

If I remember right, doesn't Mr. Freeze launch right off of its transfer? It has to be going at least 40 by the time the last car makes it off that bit of track. Yeah that is not really an issue, Premier could easily design it to work. This real issue is the park or Six Flags or both not wanting that in the design.

The 'correcting mechanism/lever' pushes down on rollers connected to the car chassis causing it to turn upright, it's basically the same type of mechanism that Pandemonium used except it is on the track above the cars- it pretty much does the same thing. After that, there is a sort of 'fixed' track or guide these rollers follow which locks the cars in the upright position and prevents them from spinning in the station, this guide in through the entire station area. Once a car starts up the lift, as it leaves the station the guide ends and since the rollers are not forced against anything the car is then free to spin. Here you can see where the flat 'anti-spin' guide track ends at the bottom of the lift- if you look at the the wheels on the car then right above them you will see the flat guide track here is a closeup shot of it, the section to the right is where it ends just after the slightly bent part Was also going back through old posts and found this from when the ride opened... I'm guessing they're going play with the weight distribution until they find one where most cars will get minimum 2 spins. It will still vary based on who you ride with, and that's not always something you can control, especially on busy days. Thank God for WCB.

Why then don't they have Intamin correct the problem so this is not an issue? If Insane is the same ride and flips a lot more than this one, why then does it not have this issue with cars not righting themselves at the end- there's gotta be some reason? This is really stupid- and I hope they are at least looking at a solution that allows the ride to run properly, otherwise it's just a giant waste of space. "Avoid inversions"- isn't that a total contradiction of the point and design of this ride? ^ It is. Except the GP doesn't know it's called a Zac-Spin. As far as they're concerned, it could be some new form of zig zag drop ride. However, those in charge of making the decision to bring this ride to SFMM have got to know this wasn't the idea. Sad. Maybe they don't, maybe they have no clue- now THAT is sad.

Ampersand turn, I like the sound of that. -
Last year, driving down GA Pkwy for the first time to head to my niece's softball game, the park is pretty well 'hidden' once you past the first office building. The only rides really visible were the Star Tower, Sky Coaster, Drop Tower, and between the buildings, Demon. I wonder how much that wooden coaster will show, especially the "Prudential Turnaround." Not only can you now see the all that from the street but you can completely see Demon's lift and first drop, it's really strange in a very cool way. I easily saw all of this while in a moving car.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

I love all of these "experts" that come out at the slightest hint of negativity. So, this is definitely the second train, huh? Good chance it could be... But is there any chance they took the nose off the first train for decals? Do you really know when this video was taken? My point is , you're 100% speculating, just like everybody else here. For real. No, to answer your question. If you look back, nobody is "complaining". Somebody just made a comment that the train doesn't move as quickly through the end of the ride as they thought it would. That would not be a complaint, just an observation. A few people, including, myself agreed. No one said it was slow. We just said it's not as fast as we thought it would be - fully recognizing that it's still early in the game and we've only seen video. Bottom line is, this is grainy digital video. It may look faster in real life, it may look slower. We all agree it will likely be a very fast/fun ride in person. Yes, just like any other coaster... so what? It's always a good way to build a strong foundation for an argument by taking one line - of a more complete thought - out of context. Good job. And you NEVER have done that... ever? Good job! Because if you had then you would be considered a hypocrite. And just so you wouldn't be bothered again I had to quote your entire post, wasting page space, just to address your last comment at the bootom, so you should be very pleased now because nothing was left out. -
Something kind of cool.... Just went to IHOP and on the way home decided to go by the park down Great America Parkway to see if I could see anything. When you get to the bitchy neighbor building, before all you could see was the park fence and a bunch of trees hiding where Whizzer once stood. Now, not only can you see the site but from the street you can see all the way to the turn on Vortex! I bet if you went to the top of the parking garage next to the bitchy neighbor building you could get some great pics as the construction site is right there! I just thought it was so cool seeing this, a very big change happening that is long overdue.

If you can stand the utter corni-ness of this video it shows some cool footage of Colossus with no MCBR---DOUBLE DOWN! No way, only 8 coasters! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxPoZctnzW4&feature=g-hist - "I thought all roller coasters were the same" - "Well, then you've got a lot to learn!" Who the hell is this kid, anybody know? I don't know why but the video won't embed.

Love that turnaround but how is it a double helix if you only turn around once? Looks just like a single helix that was stretched height wise. -
This is the single most exciting thing to happen here in almost 20 years! Even if this ride isn't super-fantastic, (which it will be), it will still be extremely fun and a giant people eater which will bring up attendance, which, is exactly what this park needs.....FINALLY! Some of the random Facebook comments.... ...uninformed ...lol - yeah they are really going to tell you that on the phone....NOT! ... actually it is entirely true, again uninformed. ... cables snapping is way lamer ...sort of agree with that. ...that is correct Sir, you win!

Six Flags Great America X-Flight Media Day
Tmcdllr replied to mcjaco's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's because they have no answer and they are obviously applause whores! It is a completely valid question and seriously, why not the actual six flags? So does a Six Flags park in Mexico only fly six Mexican flags- and when you ask them this same question do they give the same dumb answer? -
