The "GP" of Theme Parks Facebook Thread!

Feeling like you are going to fly out of your seat, isn't that what makes a great ride? ....dumb gp -
Scandia out in Ontario has a portable ride - the drop tower I think.. Didn't really pay much attention. Anyway, my first thought was, well, that it's 'ghetto'. And Scandia is a MUCH smaller park, with a much smaller budget - and it's still cheesy to me. For a big corporate park to install a portable ride that they'll pass off as a new attraction... yeah, not impressed. If you are not going to pay to ride it then why does it matter? So what if it's 'portable' parks do that all the time and if this is something the park can get for less money, make money on it as an upcharge, then easily move or remove it when the time comes can you really blame them? Do you not want the park to do things to try to save and make money so they can invest back into the park with new attractions and things? This kind of a ride will help with that in some way. Parks don't have to put in permanent rides so this idea that a portable ride is wrong is just lame. Besides, most people who will ride it, mainly the GP, won't know or care about that anyway and that is what is important- that people pay for and ride it. Portable or not, who fucking cares- it doesn't matter at all and these complaints about it being portable are just.... whatever.

Seriously? Boomerang is actually a pretty solid ride. It's easily one of the best Boomerangs I've been on. Kong is a giant piece of crap, which sadly is also the best SLC I've experienced; but that's only because the others were so terrible. I would say Kong is easily the worst coaster in NorCal, maybe even in all of California. SLCs are just badly designed rides, there is just no getting around it. I agree, it is a giant piece of stinking poo poo.

Aren't you supposed to have permission from the park to bring a camera on the ride? -
I just don't understand why I keep seeing this idea in this thread? While most of the rumors have been hard to believe, haven't we heard from MULTIPLE sources that the 2013 coaster in LJ's spot will be the longest track in the us/world along with the tallest vertical loop? I don't get how Superman: ultimate flight is even remotely comparable to anything that is likely in LJ's spot. I'm not bashing just really confused. If its true it would be a much bigger, much longer version of it.

"Coaster Dumping Waffle Man" still sounds good. -
A park employee divulging secret park information.....uh huh. Maybe its true maybe its not but what is true is that is it very unlikely an employee of the park would go around and spill information on a ride or supposed ride that has not even been confirmed or announced. Just seems really odd. So what was this employee's name and what was his position at the park, maybe we can contact him directly?

It's obvious that they'll probably recycle a name from another park with Talon or Night Hawk being tops on the list,we have to remember that NOT everyone in CP's marketing audience is an enthusiast let alone is aware of how many parks CF operates or the number of recycled ride names they have used in the past. CP's marketing, which is part of CF, is not aware of how many parks it's parent company operates? And don't ride names as well as ride designs go through the parent company for approval- so how would they not know? Or they know and they do it anyway. Are you sure about that? -

I hate to be rude, but what exactly do you hope to accomplish by continually throwing out bad names that obviously won't be used for Cedar Point's new ride? Are you just trying to entertain yourself? Be funny? Raise your post count? I just don't get it. Those might be serious guesses at names. -

he said of they added TWO. So it's pretty much afficial that CP will get a new coaster next year "Lookout for Inversions", "we might have a new competitor to throw in the ring"; I'd say it's a coaster. But we are supposed to "lookout for false clues". Maybe it's not the clues themselves that are false but some aspect of the supposed new coaster. -
I usually make X2 the first or last ride of the visit then just go around the park in either direction hitting rides as I come to them. Tatsu is awesome at night and sometimes if the line isn't too bad ill hit that then other times ill just check the line from time to time to see what the wait is. Flash passes do help though if you can justify the expense. On most of the rides I come across if the wait is too long I will just skip it and do something else then come back to it later.
