Silver Dollar City (SDC) Discussion Thread

As of right now. I am waiting to hear Six Flags announcement on the 30th. We also have the CF announcements coming up as well. Not to mention all the little independent parks. Who knows? Things can change and often do. But as of right now, this is my most anticipated coaster of 2013. Provided we're not all dead by then. Maybe there will be more "GICT" elements introduced... -

Stuff that in your pie hole on Guy's inverted camel toe! Between these two things, I'm very concerned that this thread has taken a real big turn away from being any sort of PG-13. heh heh heh! -

The ride parks itself, so if the operator holds down the buttons from hear till eternity, the ride still parks all the same. In fact on Medusa the operator holds down the buttons until the combs (the floors) come up. I have seen Medusa overshoot many times though, sometimes it can happen if the tires are wet when it rains or if it's hot outside, etc. The cool thing is that B&M designed it (and i'm sure all their other rides) to be easily backed up by the operator and continue operation no problem. I agree, I would rather wait less in line than have a high five. When I worked Demon if the train overshot the station (different manufacturer I know) you could not back it up, it had to be sent around again and the way it was programmed if a train was coming into the station and you held the dispatch button down the brakes never closed and the train never stopped, did that a few times during an employee party. It's pretty neat that B&M designed Medusa so you can simply back the train up.

Really? And how do you know this for certain? -
When they say nothing wrong mechanically that does not necessarily mean that includes the launch system as well because technically the launch is pretty much all electrical, there was no mention anywhere of not having computer or electrical issues. So it remains curious.... looks like its just one of those freak things that happens under the right conditions.

And the Roller Coaster Museum wants parts from this ride? Is it for the "Ride Blunders and Failures" exhibit? -
You know, that actually makes a lot of sense! Yeah, I'm wondering about that too. You know, maybe they could install a kicker wheel or two or a LIM at that spot so if this did ever happen again they would just give the train a little 'push' to get it going and there would be no downtime, no crazy news reports, no stupid facebook comments. I could see a staircase being added to that point but if any mods were made to the ride I would expect kicker wheels or a LIM to be added there. You know what else is interesting, originally wasn't there supposed to be a trim near that spot?

+1 Now lets move on and look out for the announcement of the 2013 coaster! I agree even though with the announcement of the new 2013 coaster will just bring more complaining like the loop is only 200 feet tall they should have went for 205, it's only 6000+ feet long they could of added an extra foot and it would of for sure been a #1 coaster, OMFG it only has 5 airtime hills I was hoping for like 30 No, 31 airtime hills!

Doesn't matter what you do to the ride someone will always have something to complain about it but obviously this person does not fully grasp that coasters are supposed to do that if they are intended to be thrilling. I mean really, just looking at the track and watching the ride run you would think that maybe that might give the impression that it could be thrilling or lift you out of your seat but apparently not to this person, and that is just sad. -
