  1. Magic mountain is in no way shape or form that forward thinking
  2. Ok people, I'm so sick of seeing people posting asking about dual loading stations and wether the track will be continuous here's your answer: IT WILL BE A SINGLE STATION AND SINGLE TRACKED CONTINOUS LOOP, it's simple people read the press release and look at the track that has been already placed. For them to use the other side of the station with the track already placed would be impossible now due to the curve into one side
  3. Why are people still confused as to wether or not it's going to be a continuous circuit, it clearly shows it's going to be in the announcement video when the track changes color and the train goes back up the lift.
  4. Photo from KTLA post From the looks of the cable from the crane connected to the track right below the burn zone more than likely confirms the fire was from them cutting the final bits of metal from the track in order to free the section and lower it down. Luckily more of the structure didn't collapse otherwise that crane could have possible been pulled over in the collapse and fallen on more of the structure
  5. If the fire and collapse had happened a closer to the Initial drop, which is going to require a significant removal of structure due to it's steep drop as compared to the orginal drawn out drop, it would probably play better into their remoldling plans, see this is right at the top point of the lift hill there definitly will need to be reconstruction of several bents
  6. Media is stupid in general, if I told the average news anchor the sky was red and not blue they would probably believe it and report it as news Edit: example of complete stupidity by the media: On the day of the lax shooting around 6 o'clock the helicopter was hovering over lax filming the planes taxing and taking off, the news anchor then asked, "are planes moving around yet" when if she would have used 1% of her brain she could have easily seen that planes were moving on the tarmac
  7. The dumb news anchor on kcal at the top of the hour was asking the guy on the phone if the ride was struck by lighting, she also said it closed down to be converted to a "3D" coaster
  8. Im studying to be an engineer and it looks safe from my initial view. The piece they cut and replaced with a smaller beam is more there of a brace and to take some of the load off the beam that actually holds the track. Should be perfectly structurally sound based on my observation, don't see why it wouldn't be.
  9. ^ Im sure theres a way that they could make them valid for any six flags park in the nation instead of just magic mountain, just incase someone bought them online for a specific trip to southern California this weekend
  10. ^ Their milkshakes are also no more than soft serve ice cream they put in a cup and stick a straw in it. The Johnny Rockets at knotts is a proper one, I love going to lunch there at Knotts (my favorite place actually) because the food is completely unique to the rest of the parks food options. Unlike at Six flags where its simply the name they stick on all their park burger places.
  11. ^ if you go to a regular johnny rockets, the food quality is way way better than the SFMM Johnny rockets
  12. There really is no reason why CGA can't do year round ops, and honestly they can't use weather as an excuse to limit ops to the summer months as even though Vallejo isn't that much further north, the weather is often much wetter and cooler in Vallejo than Santa Clara. Only obstacle I could see to year round operation is the businesses next door might complaint because of the "noise" generated 12 months a year instead of just a few.
  13. Little project that has taken up quite a few hours of mine lately thought i'd share with you guys, my first real project with NL2 and only my second attempt at a recreation (first one was a Boomerang in NL1) Still quite a work in progress, need to fix the curves a little better, work on the supports more, and script the launch block to work properly as it does on the actual ride.
  14. uhmmm wat... they should have just finished the black paint job they started a few years ago...
  15. It actually wouldn't be that hard to program into the rides control system. Probably wouldn't require more then a change in a few lines of code. A simple line to hold restraint unlock until the button is pressed again is all that it would take.
  16. Just purchased NL2 this evening and it runs great on my laptop no lag, have a gt 750m with 2gb of vram on a new MacBook pro and it runs beautifully at native 2880 resolution, couldn't be happier, Can't wait to start building tomorrow, been messing with demos all afternoon.
  17. Its also possible Monte's train was further down towards the loop, they could have had it pulled out of the station and out of site from the walkways, have seen this happen before where there appeared to be no train in the morning and it was open a few hours later.
  18. Like others have mentioned here, you guys should really find a way for us Mac users to convert our license over from windows to OSX after you guys release the Mac version. I myself will be purchasing NoLimits on the 10th but it would be great if you would find a way to offer us the OSX binary and a license for it when it is released.
  19. there are 3 cables, 2 haul cables (ones that actually pull the catch car), if your inline for the front row they in a little trough to the side of the catch car. Then theres one retract cable that hooks up to the back of the catch car and runs back to the motor house under the track
  20. I had a dream that there was a 300ft tall GIB that was built. It was funny because the next day my fortune cookie I had said that a wild dream of mine would come true. Still waiting for that dream to come true though lol.
  21. ya but the disney attempt is completely embarrassing, you can't even go into their newly created "park" area and the trees they put in are surrounded by walls, all you can see is the top of the trees. Plus u can see all the old loading ramps and stuff, definitely the biggest eyesore in CA Adventure still, whenever i walk through that area i just shake my head.
  22. I really hope 2014 brings revamped calico (looking likely) and Ghostrider topper track with slight reprofiling in certain areas. Don't want an iron horse for sure but seeing what can be done with topper track with outlaw run I could see rmc adding a couple of overbanked turns which would be awesome.
  23. Not sure, we didn't get there till about 11 and they were open, I wouldn't be surprised if they did for people who bought passes online and wanted to go into the park when it opened.
