  1. Love how the ride they show is Ghostrider Don't forget, this a Cedar Fair commercial Ohh ya i forgot
  2. Watching the GP and laughing quietly to yourself about what the world has come too
  3. Found this on the related videos for that drop of doom construction video, last 20 seconds shows the new car Couldn't get the video embedded so heres the next best thing: Youtube link
  4. I see Prudential not causing as much problem as they have in the past. With Great America getting new lease conditions with the construction of the stadium I see the city wanting to accommodate the park more now then the surrounding businesses. We will see. Heading out to the park today for a few hours, if i see anything interesting i'll post up photos
  5. Now the questions remains... Intamin or Premier
  6. I don't really see magic mountain getting a skyscreamer, at least not in the next few years with a new coaster going in. Plus theres wind seeker to the south which is taller than any of the six flags installations.
  7. Thought I would put this up Was driving by the park yesterday afternoon and happened to see flight deck testing with both trains so i stopped by to snap a photo. Good to see park is getting ready for the start of the season. flight deck testing
  8. Best Steal: X2 or Xcelerator Best Wood: Apocalypse or Old smooth ghostrider Worst Steal: Vortex at CGA Worst Wood: New ghostrider and Grizzly
  9. IAAPA looks sick, really want to go one of these years.
  10. If you ask me a lot of the GP at haunt is scarier then the monsters themselves.
  11. If you actually make these a reality, I'd love to buy one for a Intamin launched coaster train.
  12. The amount of moving parts involved in Deja Vu is immense. The lift mechanism matches the trains speed then catches it and pulls it up further. The sensors, mechanical parts and computers involved in this means the likelihood of something going wrong is high and the cost of the system is just as high. The cost of keeping a coaster up is not dependent on the number of trains its the complexity of the ride mechanisms. For example, id be willing to bet the cost to keep Xcelerator running (with a complicated launch mechanism) with 2 trains is more than California Screaming which has 5 trains.
  13. LSM wouldn't provide the launching power in that short of a launch area without probably blacking out all of Buena Park.
  14. THE CAPTION ON THAT PHOTO IS PRICELESS!!! I think its time knott's installs umbrellas over all its rides to keep cables that fall from the sky from hitting the rides
  15. Nothing matters until they actually build it. It will be interesting to see tho because if Cedar Fair builds a wooden coaster it would be an investment in the park that they couldn't just pack up and move it out in a few years if they decide to build the stadium.
  16. doubt it will be a year long closure. I still suspect the recoil cable is the one that broke because I'm sure we would have heard about it by now if people were on it when the cable snapped during launch. Probably take them a few days to replace the one cable and reinspect it. EDIT Found another photo Link
  17. Was it the re-winder cable or the pull cable or you didn't get close enough of a look?
  18. Anyone hear about the possible Xcelerator cable snap yesterday? Twitter LINK
  19. Never underestimate the stupidity of the GP
  20. I hope this rumor isn't true. I highly doubt they would remove a ride that is reliable(for the most part, compared to the others), popular, and lose the coaster crown. Plus i bet if they moved the darn thing all the things SFMM mechanics have done to keep the thing running more then the others would probably break and it would sit broken down most the time at SFNE. Unless they said the SFMM mechanics with it.
  21. Yea, the stupid kid next to me on vortex was saying that Firefall wasn't working because the seats fell off. /facepalm
  22. The first few weeks of September are the best. Ive gone on a Friday afternoon before and was able to sit on Xcelerator for nearly 2 hours without getting off.
  23. Today at Great America the kid next to me on Vortex to his friend, "Why is that ride broken? (pointing at Firefall)" the guy next to me's response, "I think the seats fell off." /facepalm
  24. Thanks, I mainly go to ride Flight Deck, so as long as it doesn't have long waits ill be happy
