Cracked open google earth to kinda get an idea of the space Knotts looks like they are opening up. If you include the area around sky tower they have a little over 62,000 square feet of space, of interesting comparison Xcelerator takes up around 61,000 square feet so Knotts could add a fairly large and good ride in this space with some creativity.

Going to parks alone?

I used to go to Knotts by myself at least once a week. Wasn't lonely at all and actually enjoyed it. Made friends with alot of the employees and ride ops, plus being a single rider got to slide into empty seats alot quicker and get on rides faster. Have done SFMM a few times solo too, makes it fun to just do what you want and not have anyone wanting to ride something else or do something else can just go at your own pace. -
Local news reports stated that this was a planned operation and OCFA already had this procedure ready to put into place on this ride. There was very little discussion about what they were going to do and how to do it according to one of helicopter reporters who was listening to the scanner which means it was simply a action plan they already had that they deployed. High roller in Vegas also has a similar evacuation plan with repels and rope work. Only change I can see happening on sky cabin is the addition of a emergency kit like the one that's on high roller if it didn't already have a small one.

I thought something was up this afternoon. Went to the park today, didnt get to the back corner by xcelerator until around 1:45-2 and it was stuck in the middle and there was a staff member at the entrance of sky cabin. Thought it just had gotten stuck during morning testing had no idea anyone was stuck even when I left the area around 3:30-3:45. Weird that it took so long for authorities to be notified. I knew they were working on it on the top while waiting for xcel I could see the hatch at the top of the tower open with the lights on but had no idea anyone was stuck until I got home and turned the news on.

I'll know when it is opened because all the banter and complaining will stop in the forum lol -
Good running into you on TC tonight! I went by new rev on my way out tonight train wasn't on the transfer so I'm assuming it was in the station. Only was at the park for a hour and a half. TC was running great other than its down time. Still needs to get the lift hill programming and blocking reprogrammed.

As someone who lived in he San Jose/Santa Clara for 2 years being originally for SoCal being surrounded by things to do and parks to visit I can definitely say that the Bay Area would lose a major major attraction would CGA ever close. There simply isn't much to do up in NorCal come winter time and I always found myself at CGA whenever I had a chance when it was open for the season.
