Alton Towers Discussion Thread

The B&M Wingrider at Gardaland was somewhere between a spritzer and fire hose. I don't trust Merlin not to try and annoy us while riding! -

^^Yeah, what TPDave said. Sometimes I'll be on a call and need to look something up so I put the call on Speaker and go online and look up what I need to. It's not a huge selling feature for me or anything but it seems silly NOT to offer it. -
^That's the strong rumor.

I really hope it doesn't spray you with water. I'm kind of getting annoyed by all these coaster water spraying gimmicks. I really don't feel that it adds anything and moreso it's just annoying. -
^My gut feeling tells me that as long as RMC keeps doing what they're doing we won't ever see another Intamin Woodie in the states. This is good and bad. RMC built a bunch of the Intamin woodies and they make the ride that is probably closest to one of them! The Intamin's were a ton of money, so if we can get more of those quality and type of rides now, I'm all for RMC doing it!

^I'm still not buying it all too much, and I can't really see Busch going with GCI again as I don't think they were all that thrilled with Gwazi. I think there are plenty of parks that would buy those MF trains though, or maybe they can be used for parts for a different manufacturer. I'm hoping to see a RMC dueling racing coaster!

Grrr, Lisa is still on a task so I can't get started! The opening to the update though also said we'd get something new on Thursday of this week!

Disneyland Paris (DLP) Discussion Thread
SharkTums replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, the ride and whole area are looking great! As much as I don't really want to go back to DLP this will certainly ease the pain! -
^I haven't been keeping up on it too much, but I know that it's not advertised very much so that could be why you're not finding all the info. 1. It's a more expensive ticket that you can ONLY buy at the resort hotels, and only at check in, but that's how you do the park hopping from day one. 2. At the hotel, you're guaranteed a ticket so no worries about waiting. 3. I don't think we got bonus fast passes on our last visit, just the opportunity to go into either park early so we'd be ahead of the crowds.

^I'm glad you asked cause I have no clue as well. Also, whoever answers, don't just send us to some viral marketing website...just tell us what the story is and what all these pieces are. -
That is peak summer vacation time, weather will also be disgusting. Absolutely get Express passes as the parks will be crowded. If you can only get express for one park, look at them both and see what you'd rather ride. Most people would probably choose IOA for the Express passes as it's been more crowded over there with Potter, and more attractions are outdoors and will shut down in bad weather leading to longer lines later if they reopen. Studios at least has more indoor stuff and the big coaster there has a single rider line.

Have we heard about height requirements on all the new rides? I've got a very excited but short six year old who is dying to know! -
^It's a hard answer as it's actually quite similar to the airlines. Prices can fluctuate quite a bit. If you're looking at December 1 - 15, chances are you should pay about $70 a day per person max as that is one of the DEADEST times of the whole year for cruise ships. You can probably wait to book till after the summer, and some people might even tell you to wait longer. As this is your honeymoon though, you don't want to play too many games and wait too long then either pay too much, be out of luck, get a bad cabin, etc. Along those lines if cabin type and location are important to you, book earlier to get exactly what you want. 4 Day cruises are often the same price or cheaper than the 3 Day because most go midweek when it's harder for people to get off work. This is a great time to cruise for weather and crowds and you should have a great time. There are almost always random deals from online travel sites where it's either a little cheaper, or they'll throw in tips or on board credit. I wouldn't be worried about booking with a different company, but just make sure they give you a confirmation number that you can personally enter on the RCCL site so you can edit your reservation, make reservations for food, events, shore excursions, etc.

Just getting caught up on this...how has there not been more discussion/debate/complaints about the trains? OTSR's on this have me really concerned and give me flash backs to the terrible head banging on the Belantis Eurofighter. -
NEW TPR Video Every Day in April!

I still couldn't believe when KT looked at me and said; "Mom, I want to do the Sky Coaster." I was like, really? Are you sure? You don't have to? She basically insisted on doing it and wasn't really scared or nervous at all. In fact on the way up I realized it had been about 8 years since I had done a Sky Coaster and I remembered that I didn't really like them that much as they freak me out! Today on the way to Trapeze she saw the new Sky Coaster at Fun Spot and asked if we could go do that one! And to answer some questions, she just turned six years old last month and she's been on between 193 and 235 coaster depending on your counting system. She's a little short for her age so she's been getting frustrated when she can't ride some stuff! EDIT - And a big shout out to our trip participant 'TheSchwitek' who is a Sky Coaster Site Controller and not only translated instructions for the group but also made sure everything looked safe and on the up and up before I let KT on it! -
