Most Intense Rides You've Been On
Skycoastin Steve replied to StrataKirby's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pre-trim I305. Post-trim I305. Titan's pre-brake run helix. Afterburn's batwing (good call to the first person that said that). Top Thrill Dragster's climb (my first ride on that is permanently tattooed in my memory). Phantom's 2nd drop. Kumba. Voyage. KD Grizzly's tunnel. Rampage, beginning to end. Beast's double helix. GhostRider's 2nd half. -
My personal opinion - The Boss had an amazing layout, but was EXTREMELY painful to ride. The helixes were just about unbearable to me. If the TG treatment works, It could take rides with awesome layouts (like The Boss) and make them not only enjoyable to alot of people, but re-ridable. D,. Boss' layout is indeed spectacu-awesome, but I didn't experience that much roughness last Halloween when I rode it. I don't know if it was coming off some kind of track work or what, but I rode in the very front and very back at night and thought it was amazing. The back was definitely on the "aggressive" side, and I probably couldn't have ridden it more than 1 or 2 times (if that), but it wasn't in the same ballpark as TG, MS, or Rattler.

Fun topic! It's really hard to decipher what my "home park" is, although for most of my life I've considered it to be KD (it was about 2 hours away from where I grew up). But then also, I worked at CP the year Maverick opened, so would that not count? Eh, whatever. Here's the coasters I've ridden their opening year. 1994: Hurler (KD) 1998: Journey to Atlantis (Orlando), Volcano 1999: Dueling Dragons, Incredible Hulk, Rock n' Roller Coaster 2000: Millennium Force 2007: Maverick (opening day), Griffon, Firehawk (OK, it wasn't technically "new," but it was its debut season at KI) 2008: Ravine Flyer II, Fahrenheit 2009: Diamondback, Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit, Manta, Prowler 2010: Intimidator (opening day), Intimidator 305 (opening day), Sky Rocket

Post your milestone coasters
Skycoastin Steve replied to bgwfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ha! That was you in the El Toro shirt. I was at Lakemont that day, as well. You weren't also at Waldameer later that day by any chance, were you? I swear we saw you again at Waldameer, unless it was someone else that resembled you and had the same exact shirt on. Congrats on 300! -

Am I the only one that thinks the "I" in the Windseeker logo looks like someone giving you the finger? -

How many other rides in this country can you get on and have your legs dangling at almost 300 feet in the air? That's really all I have to say to anyone that has a complaint about this. -

A 64 person Skycoaster? Righteous! -
^Without getting into all the specifics, Skycoasters are just about as fail safe as you can get. They LITERALLY are the safest rides in the industry, no exaggeration. Almost 20 seasons of operation with dozens of locations world wide and never a single major incident, with the exception of drunken employees after hours improperly operating the ride and getting hurt (but you can't even include that as they were doing just about everything against the proper procedures, not to mention they were drunk).

What area really needs a theme park?
Skycoastin Steve replied to let1gre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Even though it has some parks within a reasonable driving distance, the Raleigh-Durham Triangle area could use a park. They have the state fair every year in Raleigh and that thing is PACKED to the gills every night. It has a huge college crowd so it could easily draw in summer time employees, the area as a whole I believe has about 1.2 million people within an easy driving distance, and the weather is typically really nice. I've always thought a park would work well in that area. -
The most rare coaster credits
Skycoastin Steve replied to Stitch's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm proud of my Drachen Fire credit, as I got it when I was about 10 years old and didn't experience any headbanging at all. It would be fair to say that it was the coaster that made me start loving coasters. Kinda funny to say that considering the reputation it had, but that's the truth. -

That's really the bottom line. It's so hard to describe just how much different the skyline is now with this mammoth coaster in it. You can see the thing from MILES away. From what I understand, the attendance boost has been pretty significant this year, which is something else the park needed badly. It was pretty much the perfect installation for Carowinds. Glad you guys had a good time at Carowinds! -

It's going to be a tall, spinning ride on the beach. Personally, I think it's pretty straight forward. You guys need to stop over-analyzing these things to death. I'm surprised nobody has speculated that an animal exhibit with REAL brontosauruses was the new attraction. -
Most disturbing movie you've ever seen?
Skycoastin Steve replied to Sasquatch's topic in Random, Random, Random
Yeah so I watched The Human Centipede. That movie was just dumb and unnecessarily disgusting. Didn't even disturb me. The only reason I watched till the end was to see how the joke would end. -
Saturdays can vary in crowdedness, but even then, you'll be able to do everything. Here's the best advice I can offer. If you don't get there well before the park opens, don't do Intimidator first. EVERYONE goes to Intimidator first. The line for Afterburn will be a virtual walk on for the first hour of the day, so if that's when you get there, hit Afterburn first. Thunder Road will also be a walk on, so hit that next. The line for Intimidator won't really go down until noon, so you can even re-ride Afterburn and Thunder Road if you want. If you feel like going back and waiting for Intimidator, then you can. However, the back of the park is also DEAD until almost noon, so get Cobra and Ricochet out of the way, as their lines tend to back up pretty badly. I would honestly say if you ignore Intimidator for the first couple hours (easier said than done), you can get all the other coasters done in just a couple hours. By the early/mid afternoon, it won't be any longer than a 15-20 minute wait.

^I talked to both Robb and Elissa after they rode Intimidator, both said it was "ok." Robb said he enjoyed the floater air and how smooth it was, and Elissa said she just isn't a fan of B&M hypers. -

As far as the question about water is concerned, I think this was pretty telling. Why not read the article and draw the conclusion from that instead of speculating? -
