Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

EDIT: We were talking about two different rides. I thought we were talking about TTD, and we were talking about MS. Carry on, nothing to see here! -

Smooth has nothing to do with it. If the area around there isn't structurally sound, they have to replace it. The track might have been fine, but if the bracing and/or supports weren't, then obviously that's something that needs to get fixed. Dragster will always have one train off the track, as they've pretty much gotten in their "operational niche" running it with 5 trains. Sometimes the 6th train will be on the transfer, other times it will be sitting in pieces somewhere, but what you saw isn't rare at all. Also, I believe it's the yellow train, but no need to get technical! -

^^^It's Cedar Point, the New York Yankees of the theme park world. People are going to get their panties in a bunch and blow everything about it out of proportion, regardless if it makes sense or not. By the same token, others are going to fanatically build it up to more than what it is, regardless if it makes sense or not. Just take it with a grain of salt. In fact, just take most fanatical statements about any theme parks in general with a grain of salt. There's no perfect park, and there's no park that's just SO bad that it deserves to be razed to the ground by a nuclear bomb (not even SFA). -

As much as I absolutely have hated seeing the dilapidation and/or demolition of some of these old wooden coasters, the "circle of life" argument comes into play eventually. I wish we could keep rides like Starliner (one of my favorites growing up), Blue Streak, Big Dipper, et al around forever, but if it's not economically feasible, then it is what it is. I really hope Blue Streak's reopening turns out to be a rare victory for an old coaster being restored, but life goes on if it doesn't. Big Dipper is a classic, but like so many classics before it, its time has come. That's the truth, harsh as it is. At some point you really have to take into account the incredible apathy that was shown to these parks/rides prior to them shutting down and think, "wow, why do so many people only care now that it's being torn down board by board, and where were all these supporters years ago when they were TRULY needed?" -

You undoubtedly have the most bizarre preferences in coasters that I've ever seen. -
Speaking from a ride hosts point of view, when I was working normally it was the guests that slowed EVERYTHING down. Loading, checking seats, clearing trains, people pulling out cameras, etc. Not to quote a two-day old post or anything, but this is absolutely, 100% true. I've seen plenty of crews that were slower than molasses, but more often than not it's a guest(s) holding the dispatch up. And it's not like an employee can tell someone to hurry up, because then you're crossing over into being rude, which results in guest complaints. I've playfully kidded with a slow guest before, but it's really impossible to truly reprimand them for being slow. Does it suck? Yes. Can we really do anything about it? Nope.

Yeah, pass interference my A$$. The Canes are gonna make OSU look like the cornfed punks they are. THEN they are gonna roll on Pitt and Clemson .. but don't worry, it will be in their houses too, so OSU won't have to deal with being the only team that got humiliated at home by Miami. Sleep well. Oh Miami fans.......

I know opinions are opinions, but you're insane. Not because Prowler is SOOOOO good, but because Timber Wolf is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad. -
Everything I've ever sent to Screamscape has been information I've been given by people that know. I've probably e-mailed Lance 5 or 6 times with all kinds of information, and I can only think of one piece of information that ended up being completely wrong. I actually try to keep the standards up for that site, as I see it as a pretty valuable resource for dorks like us. When people like the above poster come up with pipe dreams and random ideas and send them in, that's when Screamscape looks idiotic.

I've got to say again how much I LOVE the Gator contingent on this site.

Tyler I'm disappointed that you didn't mention the frying grease splashdown on Intimidator.

Yes! Go Gators! I should be at the LSU and USC home games this year, as well as MAYBE the Vanderbilt game in Nashville. Also will be attending the LSU-UNC game in Atlanta this weekend. Going to be a great season!

I had pretzel M&Ms for the first time today and thought they were pretty tasty.
