I think this was really mishandled, really their should have been some sort of plan for a situation like this, problem with pepper spray is that if you use it in a crowd even the people you weren't aiming for get affected just from the fumes. I've only been in this kind of situation twice at a concert and both times as soon as the crowd (or the band) got out of hand they cut the power then announced over a PA system or through a bullhorn that it was time to either go or get arrested. Still the bands in those incidents told us directly that if we didn't chill out the cops were gonna shut it down. Bottom line is that the band obviously does this at it's concerts and someone should have been aware of it, its like those old Ed Sullivan shows, he knew what acts did what and stopped um from doing anything he didn't like on his stage, even Elvis. That said concert promoters should have let security in on it and maybe they wouldn't have paniced thinking everything was going to hell, or else six flags could have told them it was out of the question and avoided it all together. It sounds like they booked this band(yes as part of a bigger show), to attract their fans and that's what they got. Of course, the band has to say F you to Six Flags, it makes them look good for their fans, who will probably be somewhere else doing the same thing in the near future. I'm pretty sure that being banned from doing concerts at Six Flags doesn't make or break rock bands. I actually think this helps the band, hell i never heard of um til this and their audience looks to be teens, which makes Six Flags the establishment and the ATL rebels without a cause.

^San Diego has so much crap to do, check out Tiolis Crazy Burgers, it was featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives. They have all kinds of exotic burgers including ostrich and alligator. Ok, so i went to edit and ended up deleting the last post i did, but anyways thanks for looking, I'm gonna get the Orange Show up tonight and maybe some other stuff. Orange show had three credits including the Hi-Miler. I was unable, ok i forgot about the strawberry festival, so i missed that. Gonna try to get "somewhere" today and then Knott's on the weekend with Santa Ana Zoo. I'm also planning Belmont with maybe, Seaport Village or the the Midway, maybe both. How can i afford it, i can't, but my credit card don't know that.

Great TR, that place looks awesome, i really want to go there now. I always look forward to your "one liner" posts, your like the Henny Youngman of TPR. -
^Marineland, did you just get outta the wayback machine with Mr. Peabody. I too think they will eventually be able to interact with the whales again, just with a little more caution, maybe an alternate show for when the whales want man flesh.

Wow that looks like the lamest ride ever. Stupid me was riding the zipper when i coulda had my foot up my friends ass on a cable. Really, i forgot how funky carnival rides used to be back in the day, missing bolts and tie downs holding things together. Why they hell did our moms let us ride that stuff, not only that, but they gave us money for tickets. Anybody who rode that thing is way braver than me.

Before your completely off the subject of E.T the extra testicle (remember that Cheech and Chong fans), E.T. is on the side of that KIck Boodie for jesus ride thing, it looks like he's saying "E.T. kick boodie".

^If they could only train the dolphins to fee us Jelly Bellys, Belly Flops will do. -
Ok, so i was just going to write a trip report about Blue Horizons, but my daughter just graduated kindergarten and is on her first summer vacation. So the plan is to do a lot of fun things we were unable to do since she started school. We used to do a couple parks or attractions a week and school ruined my good time. I figure that I'm probably going to be doing something maybe once a week here in SoCal over the summer, not all theme parks, but a lot of off beat places my daughter likes, along with some of the major theme parks. So, ill just update instead of making separate TR's. [edit] Kind of a failed attempt at a summer long trip report, not too much interest, so i cut it short. Still doing the stuff, just not posting anymore updates. Please note that since killing this i have removed the pictures, so there was a whole lot more crappy stuff to look at before. I kinda waited for it to fall to the third page and then just figured nobody was gonna look anyways, so why waste the space. Somebody should delete this all together. May 28, 2010 Ok with that said lets start, fist off i went to Temecula Berry Company in, you guessed it Temecula,CA. The blueberry picking season started on the 14th, but of course i kept that a secret, because daddy was on the party bus headed to Bay Area Bash. It's fun for the kids and the blueberries are awesome. They had movie night in the evening, with personal blueberry cobbler, but we were headed to Sea World for the member preview of Blue Horizons. Here for the member preview or Blue Horizons. At first it seemed light, but when we got over to Blue Horizons for the 3pm show there were lines all the way around the stadium. We barely got in before it was full, and were told that it was still being worked out, and that they may have to stop the show, or adjust things on the fly. The show was pretty awesome, i would put it on the level of the first time i saw Shamu Rocks, but a little more fruity. All in all, after the regular people left and the member night started it wasn't that bad crowd wise and we didn't leave til almost 11. Heres some pictures. (Ok, as you can see i removed the pictures, but pretty much was pictures of a U-Pick blueberry farm.) Ok thats it for blueberries, i ate them all and have to go back when we do Belmont next month. Ok, Sea World Blue Horizons member preview. (Ok, there were pictures of Blue Horizons here, along with some general Sea World pictures.) Well thats it for crappy pictures from a 2 mega camera and bad captions, for now at least. Today it's The National Orange Show in San Berdoo.

Drive-in Ferris Wheel
fatdaddy replied to tubaplayer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There is a drive in rollercoaster, its called the desert, just watch those inversions. -
Hey my kids love that coaster, problem is its only for kids and a lot of kids that age are still afraid of coasters. So if they can't ride it with a parent then they don't go at all. Of course, my kids have been on other coasters before, so Percy wasn't scarey. Actually, i've seen more kids re-ride Percy than Thomas. I actually think that Thomas could be semi-saved with some retheming, it's not going to be a monster attraction, but they could have really made it look like sodor on the tv show. Even if they just made facades out of plywood it would be better than just boring standard landscaping. It's not like they had to imagine what it should look like, theres a whole series of videos for them to look at. I mean look at Casey Jr., not much to it but its fun to ride through all the scenery. Thomas needed to be looked at like an outdoor dark ride, train rides are all about the scenery. I think the location for Mr. Six was good because it would give kids the feeling they were riding a real coaster. Also, i think they wanted to draw kids up to the game area along with their parents to spend money. I really would like to see them add family attractions around the park, instead of squeezing everything into one corner.

^^Hey your in the video game world, do you know where they burried all the E.T. Atari games? I heard the dug a hole in the desert somewhere.

I honestly think that the retro Disney theming is whats really out of place. They should have left the classic Disney for Disneyland and the modern Disney and Pixar for DCA. Of course, i think they added the retro stuff to go with the Walt's Hollywood stuff, only its on the other side of the park. But really they could have done the studio area with a modern feel and used Pixar and some of their live action Disney stuff. I could see that little stage by Monsters used for a High School Musical or Hannah Montana show. Playhouse Disney and Monsters Inc. would have fit well with that too. Even that Toy Story musical if they ever put that in. I think that as they blend the Disney theming with the California theming the park will really come together. Only problem is that it will then be packed like Disney and i won't have anywhere to escape the crowds at Disneyland. If you drink enough wine you can walk away from the winery thinking your Julie Andrews.

People don't always have time or money to explore an entire state or even just the L.A. area, it's California, there's a huge amount of crap to do year round. A family coming here on vacation for the weekend might see nothing more than the Disney Resort and go home. I think something we are missing here is that, yes DCA kinda sucks for being a Disney park, but its still number 11 in the world for attendance. Theres a lot of parks who would love to suck if it meant that kind of attendance. So, apparently just being a Disney park is enough to get people through the turnstile. I think Disney realizes that if it gets this kind of attendance just cause its there, imagine the attendance if it was actually good. I'm actually looking forward to visiting after all the current projects are complete. Ok, really i just want wild bleu yonder burger from that place over by Soaring.
-
First of all the name change won't mean diddly to attendance or anything else related to the park. Secondly the cars land relates to california because of the whole route 66 theme of radiator springs. Thirdly nobody complains about it being Walt Disney World and not Walt Disney's World. I think the original concept was aimed at tourist, especially foreign tourists, who for whatever reason, maybe how its portrayed in movies, think California is some mystical place. I mean just in the little traveling i've done here in the U.S. you tell people your from Cali and they expect you to break out a surf board and say "dude" every other word. I remember a friend of Arnold Schwarzenegger saying that in his village in Italy they used to say "go to California" instead of "go to hell", because california was like a fictional place. I think the idea was, instead of them heading all over California, lets keep them captive at Disney resort and therefore keep all the money for Mickey Mouse. P.S. Why not Disney California Studios, I could see if it was outside California using Hollywood, but being as it's in Cali and nowhere near Hollywood and Disney probably doesn't want to inspire people to go to Hollywood and spend Mickeys rent money. Plus they could still leave whatever California themed stuff in the park.

Is anyone else looking forward to a retro Celtics/Lakers series?

SFMM has been the extreme park for years and adding more extreme rides isn't going to win away anyone from Disney parks. They are already the extreme park, they already have that market locked up, adding more coasters might give them a spike in the short term, but the only way they are going to get more long term attendance is to lure in families. Families are where the money is at anyways, Disney isn't huge because its got the most coaster, its huge because it's a family experience. If SFMM had more family friendly rides, people visiting Disney might choose to go north to SFMM, instead of south to Sea World. SFMM does better than a lot of the theme parks across the country, but falls short in SoCal. I love SFMM, but thats because i grew up with it, but people from out of state looking for somewhere to take their kids probably don't even consider SFMM, the world is not full of coaster enthusiasts. I was really impressed at how family friendly the parks we visited during Bay Area Bash were and intend on going back just to take the kids. If those parks were like SFMM I'd skip taking the kids there. My kids actually like the kiddy rides at SFMM, but my oldest daughter is starting to get into coasters and theres a big gap that i think Mr. Six would have filled, provided they got the height requirement right. I mean look at Toon Town, theres no shortage of people waiting to ride that coaster. Thomas town failed because it sucks, not because it's a family ride. My kids never get tired of Casey Jr at Disneyland, or the scenic railroad at Camp Snoopy, of the full size Thomas during "day out with thomas" at the railway museum. Six Flags needs to stop thinking that if you brand something that automatically makes it good. Sure Disney uses its characters, but they also do some pretty amazing things with their ride concepts. You can put a Thomas sticker on a turd, but that don't make it a train (even if its steaming). I just wish i could enjoy the park with my kids more, no Mr. Six, guess ill be renewing those Sea World passes.

Gotta figure it was a permit problem, if it was anything else they would of at least started work on the dirt lot. I mean it was pretty amazing how fast they threw up terminator, but even as simple as this little coaster is to put up, they still would have a lot of cement and electrical, not to mention landscaping. My daughters gonna be mad, she was looking forward to riding this during he summer vacation.

Bay Area Bash photo TR attempt-complete

^Agreed i was really sad to hear that the monrail at sfmm wasn't ever going to run again. It was pretty cool to ride the eagles flight, its been a long time since i rode one of these over an amusement park. It's one of those rides you take for granted until its gone. Thanks for looking, i appreciate the feedback.
