  1. Still not helping your credibility. Definitely not helping your credibility. Getting better, but there are better parks than Cedar Point, as well. Finally! Wait a minute, this was literally one sentence later. Are you even sure of what you're talking about anymore? Oh, dear... Aw, crap, he's gone full psycho. Huh? I'm worried about you, man. Honestly. I think you need to get away from Six Flags for a while. Their methods seem to be working on you... You. I like you. We'd get along.
  2. Oh geeze, my legs hurt just from watching that video. The airtime looks like it'll be pretty intense!
  3. Well, there goes your credibility for absolutely anything ever again.
  4. ^ It means something that will be a ton of fun that I'll wait about a year to bother visiting so as to avoid 6 hour lines.
  5. I prefer both. Hunting through threads is kind of a pain so having the solo pages in the index is fantastic for when you're just interested in checking out the parks. Initially posting them in the forum is great, though, as it spurs discussion.
  6. I'm eventually going to get all of my pictures and videos posted, just been slammed with my work schedule lately. I'm also thinking of holding off saying anything too mean until I hear back from Guest Services. Tuesday night at Disneyland was a complete disaster. Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Matterhorn all shut down at the exact same time (6:30pm) and did not reopen before the park closed (9pm). Combine that with the six (SIX!) rides already closed for refurb, lack of nighttime entertainment (no Fantasmic or fireworks or stage shows) and the fact that Haunted Mansion broke five times during our ride, and you can see why I'd be a little ticked off. Here's a quick Vine from Snow White, though! [vine] [/vine]
  7. ^ Thanks. I want able to find anything regarding pricing and menu without signing up for an account on the site.
  8. Just booked our room for Monday night. We're doing California Adventure on Monday and Disneyland on Tuesday. Can't wait! Unfortunately it's refurb season and Indiana Jones is on that list. My favorite ride in the history of ever and it's gonna be closed. Ah, well, it's still gonna be awesome! Finally I'll get to ride Big Thunder again!!!!! Last time I visited was in September and it was in the middle of it's massive refurb. Expect a buttload of photos and videos, haha. Edit - I just remembered, can someone fill me in on the World Of Color preferred seating through the restaurants? I remember reading somewhere in this thread that Carthay Circle was the best but I've got no clue what pricing would be per person and I'm not sure if it'd be worth it when we can get the same Fast Pass section I've had twice before for free.
  9. Alright, the slightly delayed photo TR is here! I was gonna get these up a little earlier but after a particularly crap day at work I decided to go see Spider-Man 2 instead. Quick review of that...it's OK. Needed more action (there's only two main battles that are both quite short) and could easily have chopped a half hour off of the 2.5 hour running time. Moving right along... Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem - I really enjoyed it. It was just around the corner from opening in Florida the last time I was there so this was my first experience and I was pleasantly surprised! Sure, the motion technology is extremely out of date by now but the 4K projection was gorgeous! I just wish they had gone the extra mile and included more 4D effects. Since it's a copy of such an old ride system in Orlando they basically rebuilt it block for block. They had a great opportunity to add something extra to make it unique but they dropped the ball. Still a very fun and funny ride, though! Super Silly Fun Land - According to Jew, the water play area opened one day after my visit. That's annoying. It looked awesome from behind the temporary barricade! I know it's mostly for little kids but it would have been nice to get a little splash here and there considering it was high 80s and Jurassic Park was closed for refurb (booooo!). Anyways, the dry play area is a welcome distraction for the little ones and Silly Swirly is exactly what you'd expect, just with awesome character design. We rode twice in a row without getting off while listening to minions sing "I Swear..." - [youtu_be]http://youtu.be/OPh5MFPOPLY[/youtu_be] Yeah, trying not laughing hysterically while riding a kiddie ride listening to that! If that doesn't suit you, they also play this - [youtu_be]http://youtu.be/icViP-RZDy4[/youtu_be] The Simpsons Ride - Yup it's The Simpsons. Fun and a bit violent as always, though this time I got a very large dose of water spray throughout the ride. Studio Tour - The route was very nice this time through, over an hour long! We hit all the major stops and had a very long, snaking journey through the NY streets set (where Courthouse Square is and all that). We also took the scenic route through the front lot (studio area) and saw a bunch of stuff I hadn't seen before. Nothing big was filming, unfortunately (unless you consider The Voice something big) so there were no celebrity sightings, but I'm not complaining. The less filming, the better the tour (less restricted areas). Kong was running great and apparently scared a kid so much that their parents had to pull the emergency cord on our way out of the building. The poor guy was shaking like he was experiencing PTSD. We stopped for a few minutes waiting for the EMS golf cart to come by and give the all clear. Norman Bates scared the hell out of the woman sitting in front of us, Jaws splashed us pretty well, Earthquake was particularly shakey, etc. It was probably my best tour through the backlot yet! Waterworld - WHOOOOO! WATERWORLD! I love a good stunt show no matter how much cheese there is. This is the first time I've seen the reworked version (they now have the same production company as Japan) and it really has a better flow. There aren't many changes and they're all very subtle, but it makes a big difference. The entire arena seems to have gotten some TLC in the changeover, as well, because it seemed that there were more and bigger explosions throughout the show as well as the entire set looking like it had a nice fresh coat of paint. Mummy - Always a fun ride. Every effect was working and they even had a new one right at the start of the ride (simple fog curtain) that may not be new at all, but it's definitely new to me. I love the surprising airtime in the back row! My one gripe is the finale of the ride. It's just so anticlimactic and just kind of ends. Can't win 'em all, though. Transformers - Running in top form! Every effect was operating, no breakdowns, no stacking in the station, just running as well as it can be. It's still no Spider-Man at IOA, but it sure is a lot of fun! As I mentioned earlier, Jurassic Park is now closed for a seemingly hefty refurb. The lagoon was drained and a lift was parked inside, I'm assuming for some extensive repainting. It seems I caught it on day 1 of the refurb, as my buddy who's a tour guide there had no idea it had even closed yet. It was unfortunate since it's one of my favorite rides anywhere, but I remember it being pretty run down the last time I visited so it definitely needs some magic. Maybe they'll get the T-Rex to actually move again, haha. One with the Vines and pictures! [vine]https://vine.co/v/Mvlai9WOAqw[/vine] [vine]https://vine.co/v/MvYYVJizv9U[/vine] [vine] [/vine] [vine]https://vine.co/v/MvYIAUqirPL[/vine] [vine]https://vine.co/v/MvYjvM2tQd1[/vine] [vine] [/vine] [vine]https://vine.co/v/MvYHEQOZ7EF[/vine] [vine] [/vine] [vine] [/vine] [vine] [/vine] Cranes for Potter are looming over the entire property. Coffee stop. Required picture, duh. Really packed. I suck at choosing days to visit. /sarcasm Gorgeous entrance. Dance party! Minions are EVERYWHERE! Taking care of the finishing touches. Everything I saw was painted by hand! Minions! Minion! Minions! Ribbed for your pleasure... Cranes, cranes, cranes. Hogwarts is going to be so intimidating when it's complete. You'll be able to see the thing from anywhere in the valley, from Van Nuys to Burbank! Kong JP Show Car War Of The Worlds set My awesome lunch. Yes, that's a Minion Red Velvet cupcake. Closed because life isn't fair. Shoulda sprung for the front of the line pass. Optimus was doing his meet and greet. Sheesh these lines are insane. Testing the water effects in Super Silly Fun Land. Awesome bush.
  10. There's a reason they don't have the Six Flags moniker attached to the name. They actually care, haha.
  11. I'm still trying to wrap my head around a 3-day media event! Correct me if I'm wrong, but this marks the completion of "new" Fantasyland, right? For one ride it seems a bit nuts but if it's celebrating suck a massive development then it's much more understandable. Either way, awesome!
  12. Hopefully he isn't in charge of safety inspections.
  13. That's one hell of a long nose car, haha. Reminds me of old muscle cars.
  14. Well, considering nothing has been officially announced, who are you to say this wasn't the plan all along? Oh, right, I forgot about your brother's girlfriend's dad's neighbor. I hear he has connections.
  15. Had an awesome visit to the park yesterday to check out Despicable Me! I'll post a full report tomorrow once I get all of the photos sorted out, but for now I'll leave you with some Vines I took... [vine] [/vine] [vine]https://vine.co/v/MvYIAUqirPL[/vine] [vine] [/vine] [vine] [/vine] More tomorrow!
  16. Sorry, they're not fatties. They're 'MURICAN! Edit - I would like to point out that I'm no saint, myself. Hell, I bought $50 worth of Easter candy the day after Easter because it was all on super clearance. However, I have no problems fitting onto any rides. I'm a big guy, 230 lbs, but I still get out and move around a lot. To get to the point pictured isn't a disease. That's a clear choice of being a slob.
  17. Shane was extremely awesome today and was kind enough to give me a hard hat tour of the property! Everything is moving along at a very brisk pace at this point and I can't wait to visit again in a week or two to see just how much more work has been done. Long story short, the park is looking more and more like a theme park rather than a cement lot with some fiberglass tubes thrown in it (like a certain other waterpark in town). There's fresh palm trees all over the place, too! Hello, shade! Shane, maybe you can give Rainbow Magicland a few pointers on what shade is, btw. Anyways, I'm not gonna bore you with endless text and I'll just let the pictures do the talking. Enjoy! The main entrance has one very bright paint job! Look at those colors! The front entrance is more or less in the finishing phase. They're laying the cement and making it all purty-like! According to Shane this last section of the parking lot will be done by the end of the week. Inside shot of the main ticket windows. I love all of the little details everywhere. This could have just been a boring purple desk but they went the extra mile and got a nice design. The attention to every last bit is astounding. Inside shot of the main kitchen's cashier area. The foreground is part of the main entrance to the lazy river. Rather than having just a simple staircase it's going to be a wading pool complete with fountains on the shallow end! This tower has the most progress so far. They've been battling the wind in the valley for a few days but they were able to get a few more pieces in place today! One of two footbridges to get onto the island. Speaking of which, that island will have the lazy river entrances, the mat racer/freefall slide tower, and a bunch of cabanas! Soon this area will all be cabanas. This is where one of the fountains in the wading pool will be. It won't be anything like Bellagio but it will be fun! The run-out area for the freefall slide. It is a trapdoor drop into a 360-spiral that leads into the run off. Which reminds me, this and the mat racer will be the only slides that end in run-offs. Every other slide will end in a splashdown pool the way they should! (that other park hasn't figured this out) Supports starting to form for the mat racer / freefall tower. Artsy support porn! Lazy river themeing for a waterfall feature. Looking back towards the entrance from the island. The second bridge leading onto/off of the island. Down in the wave pool dungeon, these are 6 of the 8 pressure chambers to create the waves out front. They will be capable of one large wave or multiple, mogul-style waves. Standing behind the wave pool facade. Electrical box porn! The wave pool's facade will be a drive-in theatre, keeping with the 50's theme around the entire park. According to Shane there will be prop cars sitting where I took this picture, as if they were at the drive-in. Of course they will be outfitted with water fountains spraying into the pool! Looking back at the entrance from the wave pool. Cranes and slides and colors, oh my! This will be the VIP pool. It will be surrounded by the VIP cabanas. The shallow sections on either side will have lounge chairs that sit in the water. On the left is obviously the stairs into the deeper area. On the right side there will be bubblers, creating a sort-of cold jacuzzi. Really cool and original stuff! OK, this is awesome. It's the second dining option in the park and as you can tell by the shape it will definitely be sticking with the 50s theme. However, what you DON'T know is that this is Rocky's Diner. As is Rock the Flying Squirrel. From Rocky & Bullwinkle. I know. Awesome! There's going to be a large statue of Rocky atop the central pillar! Looking back at the wave pool you can really sense how INCREDIBLE the views will be on these slide towers! That's Frenchman Mountain in the background there. To its right is the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, full of otherworldly rock formations and all kinds of cool stuff. Can't wait to see how far I can see! Support steel for the family tube slides. This just looks like something out of a machine-apocalypse movie. Really they're working on the kiddie area. There will be ten, yes, TEN kiddie waterslides in this area alone. One of the reservoir tanks for the kiddie area and future play structure (2015). For those people who need construction photos to survive. Look, bolts and a toolbag. Now go get a room. The splashdown pool for both family tube slides. One will be a traditional, twisty slide. The other will be a halfpipe slide with waterfalls on either side. Both will be excellent! One half of the halfpipe slide will sit right here. Back at the entrance area again! Notice they're flying another section of the waterslide in place! Soon this room will be full of lockers. It was right around lunchtime by now so the construction guys were taking their breaks in the shade. Part of what will be the arcade. Skee-ball, tickets, prizes, all the stuff you'd expect! SHARKS! Going back to my comment about little details earlier, these little touches make all the difference! Back at this tower to get a little up close and personal as they add a section. I love how the supports, being silver, reflect what's around them. It's like camouflage. The runoff chutes into the splashdown pool. We kinda walked up the green slide to get these next shots... Try taking THIS picture in a few weeks! Airtime? Airtime. This gives you a good sense of the size of the island. There's still two slide to be added to this tower, including one with a bowl section!
  18. First YOLOcoaster now Come At Me Bro merch? Ugh. They really are trying even harder than before to make me hate the place.
  19. ^ But going over those hairpin "edges" is one of the freakiest things you can experience!
  20. ^ Run. As fast as you can in the opposite direction.
  21. ^ Beware. Those corporate buyout days spell certain doom for regular guests. At Great Adventure when Pfizer bought out the park every year they would rn out of overflow parking and start bussing people in from the outlet mall a few miles away. Lines are disgusting even with Flash Pass.
  22. Dude, they're not trying to be a Six Flags park. They're located two miles from Disneyland, as well as being directly in the middle of suburban LA county. 90% of their clientele is families which is why they're going to continue to focus on the family-oriented rides and experience rather than attempt to lure in a demographic that, Six Flags has proven time and again, is less desirable. Think about it. You go to a park where there's a ton of families walking around having a good time and there's an overall cheer about the park. It gets an aura of happiness because everyone is more or less having a great time. Now compare that to walking around Magic Mountain where the majority of the guests are unsupervised teenagers. They're loud, obnoxious, annoying, jump lines, etc. It makes your day MUCH different. Knott's is knocking it out of the park by keeping up with the family and traditional themes. People who go to Disneyland will also love to visit a different park that's less than half the price while they're in that area. It's business 101. Don't tick off your cash flow.
  23. That'd be my voice you're enjoying, hahaha.
  24. Or don't do that and the fatties can hit the treadmill once in a while.
  25. Those trains are definitely very different looking. Pretty wide open, too, haha. Why do I get the feeling that the people in rows 2 and 3 are going to spend the entire ride just shooting each other rather than the targets?
