Great Trip report! Really like how this park seems to be a mix between a family park and a chain park. Its a shame though that Cedar Fair doesn't really help this park out much anymore (Not Getting Deamon Drop and/or that Intamin impulse) Many people from Michigan go to Cedar Point more times per year than they do Michigan's Adventure, yet its closer... I guess Cedar Fair doesn't want to take any more business away from Cedar Point... *cough*Geuaga Lake*cough* -
TPR's New Forum UPGRADE!
PriestofSyrinx replied to Hhappy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This could be just a bug with the extension, but my Firefox Add-On called Fastest Fox, which loads the next page of forums, blogs. right on the same page without clicking the next page button. It works well going from page to page, but when there are no more pages in that topic, it treats each new week of the TPR calender as a new page, thus loading what should not be loaded. Nothing major, just a little mishap! -
I've never in my life heard of a major roller coaster being leased to a park. Thats because its a crap Idea. Its like saying that Cedar Point leased Top Thrill Dragster, and (hypothetical) Apollo bought them up and say "We really cant afford that lease payment" and that ride gets scrapped. It may work for a flat ride mind you... But never lease you star attraction, cause when worse comes to worse...

^^Um yeah. He posted his OWN version of the Web cam recording and added his song to it and uploaded it in sequence to youtube, similar to what Wormy did. If you paid attention to the two videos, you could see that the video is not the same as Wormy's. He probably did not even know that video existed before he uploaded it... Anyhoo! I hope that it does speed up as the paint wears off an the wheels get rolling as well. I cant wait to see it when it really gets rolling! -

Sweet dude. That is definitely up to NE standards. I am especially liking that flying coaster. Great use of foliage too! -

If Polk County expands its toll road to the western way road, then it will be a rousing success! I'm pretty sure though Polk county and the State of Florida will make sure that this park wont end up like HRP. Since the State of Florida has taken extreme measures in the past (with the company that owned both Wild Adventures in Valdosta GA and then Cypress Gardens) and basically gave the park to that company. But look at that company now... Merlin (Blackstone)=Success from what I've seen... Maybe now that Blackstone fully owns 6 gated parks and half of 3 others in that stretch of I-4, that Orlando Flexiticket might actually become a good bargain to compete with Disney... -
Theme Park Operations - 2010
PriestofSyrinx replied to Serial_Thriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I totally agree with you! But you seem like the guy who truly enjoys doing your job and takes pride in it. A few parks strive for what you stand for, but unfortunately many park operators (and I see this most at Six Flags and Kings Island) couldn't give a rat's donkey about their ride. They just wanna get it over with and get paid. If you truly wrote that... then you seriously need to become a GM at a major park. Great Stuff! -
What if Jurassic Park was real?

Jason's Disney Theme Park Stuff

Loved that Millionaire stuff. That jacket though is sooo tacky. No wonder you only wore it once! -
What if there was a "real" Jurassic Park that had all of the kinks worked out of it? The ultimate Theme Park experience! No sick dinos, no underpaid IT specialists, a back up power system, etc. Would you go? How much would you pay? For me, I'd say that I would pay probably five thousand a week, thats based on one thousand dollars a day. But i would be pretty iffy on going

Jizzman Tours the Gravity Group! IN DEPTH!

Thanks a lot for an inside look! I think these Timberliner trains will be the perfect competitor to the Millennium Flier trains. I hope that retrofits around the country could salvage some of the more rickety behemoths (Ghostrider, Shivering Timbers, The Legend, Cheetah, heck even Mean Streak!) But I could see where some purists could make the argument about taking away that "wooden feel". Especially now that these trains can actually take turns better than PTC... -

Well Central Florida is now a Duopoly: Now Disney will have to keep its game up, because it now only has to worry about one competitor now. But this is great news! As opposed to my previous post, I now actually think that it will be a great way to keep the gardens around. (and Starliner). What I thought was bizarre was this though: http://thedailydisney.com/blog/2010/01/before-legoland-opens-visit-downtown-disneys-lego-imagination-center/ I dont know what the deals are between this store and Disney, but im sure Disney does not want their Lego store to go away, leaving a gap over in marketplace... -

^ I did not mean to slander your city. But as for every Polk County city, It all has it slum parts. (I used to live in Lakeland) But I still dont see why or even how Merlin/Blackstone can turn this into a major park. It needs to be a side show like Silver Springs in Ocala. -

I understand your angle, but no. It is SOOOO much easier to get to CP from the Turnpike than it is from I-4 to CG. Plus People alredy know that CP is a resort destination, and dont mind driving through the slums of Sandusky to get to the point. Driving through the slums of Winter Haven is a bit different. And its not a resort destination, its more of a side trip of sorts
