"Paradise City" - Guns N' Roses (sounds terrible on the Macbook) Also, after many years this has finally become my most frequently posted thread. And it's sure to stay that way.

"Southbound" - The Allman Brothers Band There's always that one band that I quickly start to think is the only band. Right now, it's the Allman Brothers.

I, too, am pretty sure I thought Shirley Temple had already died. I remember being traumatized by Bright Eyes when the mom was struck and killed on the way to bring a cake to Shirley. I guess my mom didn't remember that or didn't know I would take it so seriously. I haven't watched many of her other films, but my grandma was a big fan.

Speedy Gonzales? That was already old when I was young, let alone now! I don't know if I even knew he was a mouse. Why didn't they call it Mr. Six's DanceCoaster? At least we know there is the possibility of adults riding, but I guess time will tell if you actually need a kid, or if the press release (shockingly) just wasn't tailored to credit whores...

Ugh, totally forgettable this year. (And yes, this was my reaction right off, not just in the week-plus since!) Too many of the commercials had that "feel-good" angle to them. In general, I totally go for the sentimental stuff in life, even when it comes to advertising (an old Clydesdale commercial is among my favorites, and there was an insurance ad several years back that makes me cry when I think of it). But this year, they seemed overly manipulative and heavy-handed. Also, most of the humorous ads weren't that original and I only laughed a handful of times.

I haven't heard much about this one, either, but it definitely looks and sounds like it's worth riding. -
Most heavily themed theme park

^^^^I'd say Cheetah Hunt has the best combo of theming, landscaping and setting of any outdoor coaster I've ridden in a long time, possibly ever. Orlando Manta is another strong contender (if a wee bit tougher to enjoy). ^^Chuck, looks like your list is about the same as mine (and I'd definitely exclude San Antonio from my praise of the SeaWorld-branded parks). -
Worst Coaster Layout
cal1br3tto replied to SingleRiderCam's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^Darn, was totally going to post that layout for the win. At least you found one with a unique-looking train. This is more what I was imagining. Betcha can't ride just one! -

I was hoping to see track in the photos but totally overlooked it until you guys pointed it out. Great to see this finally getting off the ground. At this point I'm happy to wait until next year to finally make my first visit. -

My thoughts are by no means novel, but I do have a rough and utterly predictable ranking of a few. 1. Disney is unbeatable. 1t or 2. Universal is either equal to Disney or just the merest touch below. The attention to detail is exquisite. 3. Dollywood and SDC. The immersiveness isn't quite as deep in parts, but the thoughtful attention to detail is absolutely there, and the beautiful settings help as well. 4. BGT and BGW (for smaller Busch parks, SeaWorld Orlando is also up there). They also didn't feel quite as immersive or detailed to me, but still wonderfully transporting. -
I'm afraid I don't have any must-watch events. I'm assuming this won't date me too much, if at all, but one year Tara Lipinski was my hero. A few years later my friend and I had a crush on Apolo Ohno. But I don't think there's any sport I've watched consistently over time. More of a "whatever's on" kind of deal for me.

Whats The Weather Like Where You Live?
cal1br3tto replied to RtherBOnACoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
What started yesterday as a light dry snow blowing around in the streets gradually ended up covering us in a thick blanket. It's coming down strong again today; I shoveled the driveway for my parents and less than 2 hours later they don't believe I did it. We don't get snow like this every year so there was the stereotypical "bread, milk and eggs" brigade at the stores and the reports of minimal commutes taking several hours. -
I assume "My Family Recipe Rocks" is too obvious, considering he's the host. Yeah, I've watched that once or twice.

Sometimes I glance at a photo of this coaster on FB and think I'm looking at iRat. Which I guess makes total sense. I like how it's surrounded by some trees for a bit of a woodsy feel. -

Beat me to it! I never got any personal pics of it, so I would still be second-guessing myself to this day if I didn't spot a random Facebook comment about it--he is a bit camouflaged there. -

This park remains on my long-term wishlist, despite being stubbornly in the middle of nowhere. It looks like a charming place. It can be interesting to ride a wooden coaster that's in the middle of an extensive renovation, or to ride it before and then after one. But ya can't get to them all. At least this one sounds like it really needed some smoothing out.

^^^I've never heard of someone keeping a Jungle Flying Squirrel as a pet, but it looks cute!

I can't find the right speakers for my turntable. Why isn't this stuff all stored together?
