Well, I won't be going out of my way for Backwards SkyScreamer. Actually, I keep feeling like it would be a little nauseating--I've never had any problem with a backwards ride, but my mind is just going that way for some reason. I have to admit I'm your typical enthusiast who doesn't care for SLCs, but it's not an all-consuming hatred.

If it does turn out to be a Kingda Klone of sorts, which is obviously unconfirmed, then I'm hoping that design advances will make it a better experience. And I like Kingda Ka to begin with (and love the three superior Accelerators I've ridden, as well). For one, it will be interesting to ride one with different restraints, hopefully the expected lap bars. -

^^Interesting! Sounds like a traditionally inspired funhouse with some modern and creative theming. I hope it lives up to that fun-sounding description! -
^Ha! Had to check that out to see if there was anything juicy I missed or anything I wished more people knew about. Nothing shocking or groundbreaking, but some were pretty funny. Also, it totally just reminded me how I used to be obsessed with the song "There She Goes." How could I forget?

Why did I think they were getting a Frisbee-style ride when I first heard of this? I think because the KMG Afterburner is called the Fireball in some places. As for this, while it's nothing groundbreaking, I'm sure it'll be well-received. I usually try to ride these, though I've skipped a few, and they're at least as fun as any other swinging-and-inverting ride. -
While it's true it doesn't sound like the incident could have happened there, I was actually just thinking about how I could see that happening on this ride. If I remember right, there's no platform or railing where you'd expect one to be, and even if that's not dangerous in and of itself it seemed a little too easy to possibly get into the track area.

^^Yeah, I could see that. Well, it's not huge for coaster enthusiasts, but it could be worse. I'm always in favor of ice skating rinks, especially ones that don't have to be seasonal (not that I ice skate). Um, I just have one question, and pardon my ignorance. But are synthetic ice rinks, you know...cold?

I LOVE Cedar Point at night--in fact, moreso the ambiance than the rides. So this sparked some fond memories. -

Bad Apple! Hungry Hippo! Now those are some cute names. I'm liking all these retro initiatives, from the big changes to the little details. It would be nice to see other parks in the chain take the same direction. -
I'm all in favor of parks turning trains backwards, or offering some backwards seats. The only downside for enthusiasts is that the often-limited timeframes can't always coincide with our trips. But I totally understand if that works best for the parks, who are obviously targeting locals. Plus, the trains can be more damaging to the track in some cases.

Now I feel a bit lost as to whether any open dry rides were closed because of the incident, or if they're all closed for the season meaning the ride was definitely not in public operation. Was that made clear somewhere I missed? (I know I mentioned that earlier, but now I'm wondering if I misinterpreted the article I read, or if I'm just rambling.) At any rate I hope we learn more details soon and where to lay the blame.
