  1. It will be interesting to see how the water park turns out. To me they seem like "if you build it, they will come" type attractions. If nothing else it will offer a convenient break for those already spending time at Fun Spot.
  2. I love that deep turquoise. It looks like it might go very, very well with Dragon Khan's track. That's along the lines of what I was thinking.
  3. ^^Boomerangs can sure have some overwhelming forces during the backwards portions. Absolutely. I've happily seen this proven several times on wooden coasters old and new.
  4. I got an F. 17/30. I ride almost all dark rides, and I make sure to experience most walk-throughs as well as select funhouses and the occasional mirror maze. But I just don't know much about their history.
  5. I am riding my favorite merry-go-round, the Central Park Carousel. My avatar almost matches my user title, except I am on a horse, not a donkey. Also, I am not engaging in mating behavior.
  6. At least a Boomerang should make for good business for the park. People seem to like them fine, and I've noticed that going backwards seems to be a great novelty for kids. I'm glad more comfortable restraints exist now, but they certainly didn't cause me to enjoy Sidewinder at Hersheypark.
  7. I'm looking forward to seeing how the wooden coaster turns out. Not that this would be the only reason, but maybe I should head to Florida in 2013?
  8. I don't mind using the common terms, but I do think of them more as referring to styles of coasters that most commonly fall into a certain height range. To me, mini-hypers like Steel Eel and Goliath at La Ronde might as well be true hypers, and Millennium Force is basically just an oversized hyper. If this is anything like my favorite B&M hypers and/or my lone gigacoaster credit, I'm sure I'll love it.
  9. I'm not a fan of the park, so hopefully this change will help it improve. I'm sure I'm not the only enthusiast who would only go back if they add a major coaster.
  10. ^Love the sound of that. It helps make Manta so much more than just another coaster (and it already seemed somewhat creative to me). My interest is steadily increasing!
  11. Haha, I actually find them kind of cute. My...my melt?
  12. ^I can understand the complaints based on where the coaster will stand in the park, but I like the colors themselves. Actually, I have trouble even remembering GIB color schemes, strangely. I keep thinking Aftershock is yellow!
  13. I love the look of that turn; hopefully it will deliver. I'm looking forward to seeing how this all comes together.
  14. Okay, that is beautiful. I am highly impressed with the color scheme and I hope it lasts.
  15. I think it'll be best if I just visit with low expectations. I'll make a goal of riding this once for the credit, then see what else I have time for. This is in light of the frightening throughput predictions, as I have no problems with the park overall. Although I see their coaster collection in a different light now that I have ridden so many comparable rides...
  16. Do a lot of Six Flags parks offer complimentary parking towards the end of the day? I experienced that at SFOT once, but at SFGADv they were charging even within about an hour of park closing.
  17. ^Yeah...I had feared the article contained outdated or otherwise inaccurate information. Hopefully that's the final layout, at least. Sounds pretty creative and I'm hoping this will be towards the Prowler side of intensity for a GCI.
  18. Same here! I'm really appreciating Gerstlauer's lap bar-friendliness.
  19. ^^SeaWorld San Diego was fine for a couple visits as it is, but it will definitely be Manta that brings me back again.
  20. ^I just looked up pictures of that coaster today as I loved the model but didn't recall even hearing about the ride previously. It does look much plainer than the model and I would love to see heavier theming.
  21. I kinda enjoyed Jersey Junkyard the first time I rode; perhaps my expectations were simply too low and therefore automatically exceeded. The second time, though, I saw it for what it was: short and fairly generic. I did like Curse of the Mummy, though. I was properly nervous throughout the attraction and the actors got in some good scares. I might even label it underrated, although it matters little now since we have the excellent Ghost Ship.
  22. Every year I think I won't be all that interested in IAAPA coverage, and every year I end up positively fascinated. Some random notes: - Love that Ferris wheel car. - For whatever reason, from photos the Mini-Hu reminds me of a smaller Huss Jumping. - I don't recall the original El Loco trains bothering me, but I'm happy to see S&S improving on them. - I'm a flat ride person, but I almost wonder if some of these new designs are too much even for me. Parks, PLEASE buy: - The Gravity Group's SplinterFX coasters. They just look so, so right. - GCI's Big Fun model (which somehow makes me think of RCT, in a good way). I can't wait to see where these end up!
  23. Oh, I didn't realize the ride had been sold to a park. Is that all the info available now? Hopefully we'll track it down soon and see it up and running somewhere in the near future.
  24. There is a Hexentanz at the Puyallup Fair. It's called Inferno (sadly, not "Tampico Tumbler") and was alive and well in September. At one point I noticed only one person riding Tak Attack. I had pretty much the same experience as Neil above. I was too lazy to research possible replacements for it, so thanks for the pic, Larry. Looks fun.
  25. ^Interesting. I'm also glad I was able to experience such an uncommon ride. But I won't miss it too much as I was underwhelmed by the ride experience, having expected something more thrilling. I wonder what will replace it. My thoughts exactly.
