In the picture of Fahrenheit on the main website- has that huge waterslide thing always been in the background? -

Does anyone have those Darien Lake commercials for the Predator with the guy rowing a boat through a swamp? Or the older ones with the Darien Lake song? "...if you've heard more laughter than you've ever heard, it mus be Darien Lake..." Or the truly retro-classic comericials for people in the Buffalo area- the 1970's/1980's commercials for Fantasy Island- "Fun...Wow!" EDIT: Found a funny page in reference to Fun? Wow: http://www.heynorton.org/2006/06/08/fun-wow/ -
Let's Learn about the Matterhorn!
BrownStreak replied to Alpenguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Are the rumors true that 20K Leagues at MK was designed to eventually hold a Matterhorn style mountain and ride on top of it? We were told that when I worked there in 1994. -
Yes, the ghost of Heath Legder haunted the park last night and told them if they build the ride he would spook everyone in line for Thunderbolt. --Robb ^ Hence why this year's Fright Fest at SFNE is going to be even scarier, creepier, and more ghostly than year's before. And it will be sponsored by Jolly Ranchers

"Even some of the Cedar Point commercials...?" I would say ESPECIALLY the ones from Cedar Point. That one that almost looks an ad for Fright Nights is a full platter of cheese! Did you notice in the tag the fine print that ticket prices were $14.95?! Its more than doubled in 20-some odd years. -
Cedar Point - Is it worth it?
BrownStreak replied to orangeblue's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Yes, however they usually do add a major ride every other year and something minor in between: 1994: Raptor 1995: ? 1996: Mantis 1997: Chaos 1998: Power Tower 1999: Camp Snoop/Peanuts Playground 2000: MF and so on- at some point their odd and even years got off track but they have continued on with: 2004:MaXair 2005: TTD 2006: SkyHawk 2007: Maverick 2008: Planet Snoopy So, next year I would still expect a major thrill ride or a coaster of some kind, but my bet is on a major thrill ride. -

Here's my cents worth opinion and my nickel tour (so yes you owe me 7 cents). If I could visit any "regional" park I wanted to it would be SFGAm to be honest. However seeing as I have lived in Ohio for three years now and was a CP season pass holder one year and also worked at the park nine years ago I can give you this great advice: Maverick's presence may have changed this somewhat however the General Public often rides things as they encounter them and 90% of the guests use the front gate- translation...do the back first. Maybe run with the bulls and get a ride on Raptor or MF 1st thing, however then head to the back of the park and ride the inspiration for my handle (Mean Streak) and the other coasters and stuff back there. When you notice the back is starting to get busy head towards the front and start hitting things there though note that for awhile everything will be busy. If you stay up front at night you will see it quiet down in mid-evening. Also keep in mind that with a few exceptions the rides have the same policy as Disney does- you can get into line up until park closing and still get to ride. The exceptions being near the laser show as those rides close during the show. -

This may be a "breaking the magic" question, but is there a door at the very top for Tinker-bell to use to attach to her guide wire? (She really flys- the wire is just there to tell her where to go). I got to go up into Tinker Bell Tower at MK once and it was a cool view and neat to see how it worked. -

If I run the ToT Sim with both TV Rooms and all three elevators at peak capacity, I end up with too many peeps in the Boiler Room Queue and have to hold back loading the TV Rooms for a couple of elevators or close one of the rooms for a little while. I have also noticed that the bonus video at 1,000 guests doesn't seem to work any more. The Play-It Sim seems strange and it already froze on me once. It is realistic that they also quiz one guest and then the show is over? -
Line jumping at the DLR
BrownStreak replied to MisterP's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When I worked at SFGAm we did that on busy days for Batman, especially on days when they used the "hidden" queue which started over in the Orleans area by where Shockwave's entrance was. There were tickets in numerical order handed out. There was then another op stationed near the "sewer entrance" who would collect the tickets and if they were more than 10 off you pulled them out of the queue and called security. Even with the tickets we nabbed at least two parties each time we were in that position. -
1. What do you find most useful about the front page? The "Official Updates," "(Major) Forum Updates," and "Announcements" 2. What do you find least useful about the front page? Stuff that's been on there longer than I've been a member 3. Is anything on the front page confusing? Some items appear in more than one location i.e. "Official Updates) and "Forum Updates" 4. How far do you scroll down the front page looking for updates? Not far unless its been awhile since I've visited 5. How often do you look at the front page? 95% of the time that I "surf" to your awsome site 6. How often do you click on the "whatsnew" link? Where's that? 7. What would you like to see added to the front page to make your visits to TPR better? A bunch of pictures of Diabetic Dan -but seriously, maybe a text only list of current Photo Trip Reports that are active in the forums as opposed to just the ones that are news worthy 8. Anything else you would like to mention? Like any thing else you would like to see us add/change/leave alone/etc? Have you ever considered giving audio comentaries for your PTR's?

On Ride Photo Bandits
BrownStreak replied to BrownStreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Before it became a hardcore porn site FlashMountain was basically a collection of ride photos from Splash Mountain. PS: When I worked at DL we would occasionally call down to Viper Photos and ask them to save pics for us because their system printed each picture and so they were thrown away if not purchased. So we would call down there and be like "save car 5 from the next train" and they would. But I have considered buying someone else's ride photo- though I haven't voted in my own poll. Keep in mind this was not a serious consideration. Also keep in mind that being in school full time and working 1/2 time and being on Student Gov't by this time in the week in this time of the semester I am just...how should I say it...off. -

A) I don't look at women! B) This is something that I did when I was 18 or 19 working at Darien Lake and looking back on it I thought it was kind of funny. I didn't realize the TPR forum had lost a sense of humor. -

These are some good pictures. I remember coming down from Buffalo to visit GL and Sea World when I was a kid. Are you going to cover the other side of the lake as well? To those who say "the park was better before 'Six Flags' took over" should know that Premier acquired the three Fun Time parks and then bought the Six Flags chain from Time Warner- so it was the same people who ran the park from the early 90's to 2000 as the time when it was "ruined" the first time.
