  1. I can't believe El Toro is 10 years old. It seems it's held up so well that's it's really a shame that other parks didn't build any. Apocalypse at magic mountain is almost 10 and it's terrible. Imagine if they had one of these. :/
  2. Does Dorney Park have an obsession with railings? I mean they have railings everywhere! They have: Railings here Railings there Railings in the que Railings in my view As you can see, there are a lot of railing, and I'm afraid that it's because Dorney is reacting to a trend caused by GP who like to wander off pathways or hop the line. I hope this trend stops!
  3. You'll enjoy them. I think Holiday World's are better, but both parks represent classic 90's/2000 CCIs that are still very enjoyable and well taken care of
  4. Should be riding the Joker in a matter of days, if it's anything like the other RMCs, I'm hoping that will be my favorite for this month.
  5. Unfortunately, your point of stating what's statistically likely doesn't address the variables that caused this to happen. In this case, we'd say this ride is a clear outlier on the safety spectrum. At some point in the development of this attraction, there was gross oversight (seems in this case it was the decision to use of Velcro restraints) and unless that issue is addressed, it could very well happen again. Hopefully they can find a suitable safety measure that will allow them to continue to operate the attraction, but I'm not sure they'll be able to do so without a significant investment or seriously decreasing ride capacity.
  6. Speaking of boats. . . . they could always rename Mean Streak ... "The Boat." Mmm boaty mcBoat face
  7. I'm glad to see many of you see the positive of this. The GP seemed livid, I've even seen petitions in attempt to stop the change. Personally, I'm excited. This is only going to be a plus. As Robb mentioned, DCA's ToT has always been the inferior knock off of Florida's. It's never felt unique or special. Now we've got something special about our Tower of Terror. It sounds like the show is getting plussed, and overall should be a better, more unique, and interesting attraction which gives a little taste of whats to come with a bigger Marvel world. It's easy to understand the hate. But remember when Disney bought Marvel and Star Wars and everyone was adament that thse franchises would be ruined and kidified? Ladies and Gentlemen, we are in a new golden age for the Disney parks, and this is not going to be the misstep that propels us into a new dark age. It's a continuation of the quality we've come to expect from Disney the last couple of years. Fear not ye of little faith.
  8. Now having been on the updated GR, I will say I can see how this is a major improvement for majority of people. It's fast and it's smooth. But to me I left a little disappointed and I kind of preferred it better when it was rough (I'm in good shape and never really found it intolerable.). The main thing is key moments that really made GR stand out are gone. All air is floater at best, extreme lats are gone, airtime off the first drop is almost non-existant (very faint floater air) and the drop off the Mcbr just isn't anything like it used to be, even when it was completely stopped completely. Like I said, I get it, and this ride will appeal to most of you, but for a ride I was hoping to be fairly comprable to Tremors and Timber Terrors in my personal ranking, I'm afraid it doesn't come close. And it's unfortunately knocked out of my top 10 all together. Front of the train is the best. I feel there was more airtime, and you get some good float, but nothing like it could have been, imo.
  9. You know that would also affect yourself. So you want to deactivate your account next month? Who said he'd be voted off? Who said he wouldn't?
  10. I'm not disagreeing with you, but if that's the case, I don't understand the logic. Even I the highly competitive SoCal & Orlando markets, there are people who attend multiple parks throughout the year. Plus, having a good park locally for those in Michigan incentivizez them to get a pass Which would only further encourage them to travel east to the Point. I think cedar fair would find a good synergy with both properties if they invested more into the smaller parks. I'd love CF to give me a reason to go to Michigan. I've also heard Grand Rapids has a booming craft beer scene. Kalamazoo was pretty good given its size, I'd love to sample the brews from a larger city... Just... Need... More... Of....a...reason...to...visit...
  11. I have yet to ride, but despite the ride being "tamer" it still sounds like it's better than what it was before, so it still sounds like a win to me. And I'm really hoping it ages well. For the really intense CCI's, guess I'll still need to go to Idaho or Indiana to get my fix
  12. Portland, Oregon. Also, Seattle needs a better theme park.
  13. Looks great. Just needs 2 - 4 more air time moments and it'd be perfect!
  14. ^ I agree. PE has got to go. As far as an Xcelerator reboot goes, yeah it's never been done in the industry before (the closest to it being the RMC redesign of wooden coasters). But knowing what intamin has done since, it's fun to dream about what it could be if knott's wanted to go that direction. With current rumors, xcelerator isn't going to be touched in the next couple years, but maybe a few more years after that, an extension of Xcelerator would actually be a viable addition to the park.
  15. I don't know if you guys are still debating KBF's attendance numbers but Themes Entertainment Association reported it as 3,867,000 http://www.teaconnect.org/images/files/TEA_160_611852_160525.pdf I don't think there's enough room for the cobra roll or final break run, but I like where your head's at. It would be great if KBF attempted an xcelerator 2.0. It makes sense in the limited space to create substantial new rides but also that there's an infinite number of ways they could improve it. I just doubt it will ever happen :/
  16. the Joker didn't open at all on its public opening date. that's a pretty bad opening if I say so myself Sure, that's disappointing if you showed up on the day it's down, but my no means is that a major event that's going to cost RMC or six flags major distress. There's always going to be nagging issues like that for a brand new ride. The fault should be on the park for not communicating the issue better so people don't wait in line for 8 hours for it to open
  17. I agree. The place doesn't have much to compel me to go and hasn't since I was in middle school which is probably the last time I've gone. I imagine the target demo is still middle schoolers without much life experience and consider it cool because options are limited in SoCal (most water parks I the area don't have much going on for them) and because it's conveniently located.
  18. I think it's more of everything that comes along with the coaster experience, like memories and such. It's natural for people to feel a bit sad when a part of their past is going away. Sure, coasters like Mean Streak suck, but I'll be honest, when riding those types with a large group of your friends, and you're all screaming in pain together, that makes for a hilarious memory. I'd rather be on the world's worst coaster, than be stuck at work behind a desk getting yelled at by my boss. You're not going to see me planting flowers and singing kumbaya when something is demolished, but in the end, a roller coaster is still a roller coaster. I feel like Sitting at home is a better use of my time than riding a crappy coaster. If it's no good, burn it down! Or RMC the $#!+ out of it
  19. Woah woah woah, you can't just drop a photo like that without tagging it NSFW. I'm at the office! Sheesh
  20. Absolutely! While we're at it, I would love to see YOLO extended to. Maybe an Immelmann into a pop of air and a helix into the break run? Idk but something more than a top hat into a break run would suffice
  21. Six Flags has been running promos with the VR headsets on YOLO. Does anyone know if that attraction also has a VR option? I think I would be more interested in riding VR on that ride and enjoying revolution without the headset.
  22. I'm not one to go super in depth honestly, but here's how I look at the two. Lightning Run is fast, well-paced, and frantic. The airtime gradually increases in intensity by the final few hills, and the laterals are more noticeable. Also, the low-to-the-ground slalom turns are a fun part of the ride as well. LR pretty much feels and rides just like an RMC, except for the weird seat backs. Lightning Run has the con of feeling less complete compared to Storm Chaser by having a more abrupt ending. Storm Chaser is intense, twisted, and has better/more intense ejector airtime. The first 3/4ths of the ride are where it shines. The barrel roll drop is one-of-a-kind in the U.S. The first major airtime hill is the best RMC airtime moment I've experienced (having ridden this, Wicked Cyclone, Outlaw Run, and Goliath), with sustained ejector air. The other airtime hills are typical abrupt bursts similar to WC. The laterals on the off-axis airtime hills are fantastic, as its throwing you out of your seat. However, like I said, the ride does lose quite a bit of speed after the corked roll. So the ending is more coasting through rather than slamming the brakes like LR. I'd say overall, I'd give the slight edge to Storm Chaser since it feels more complete, but it really can go back and forth. Both rides are excellent in their own way. I'll have to find a way to get back to the park. Thanks for the insight!
  23. wondering if some one would do a more in depth comparison between LR and SC. I still maintain that if Lightning run was scaled up to the size of a 200 foot coaster and a tad bit longer, it would probably be my favorite.
  24. I also recently went. I hadn't been to Florida's so I wasn't 100% what to expect. The immersive experience was perfect. Everything from the themed food and restaurants, Olivanders, the interactive wand spots, and of course Forbiden Journey. I'd like to say this finally makes USH feel like a complete park, and it should. Unfortunately, most of their attractions are all 3D screened based now. It feels like 3D screen/simulator overload. I think USH could benefit from the addition of a few Disney styled D ticket level dark rides to round out the experience. They could do a lot with Simpsons. The area is so great, but the ride kind of pales in comparison and doesn't truly represent the legacy of the franchise, imo. Overall it was good to be back. This is my first time back for a non-HHN event since before Kong burnt down.
  25. The place definitely needs more rides. From a water park standpoint, it seems ok, but overall the park has a lot of deadspace and nothing really worth making a trip out for imo. I road thunder hawk a few times. A solid family coaster but does not quench any serious coaster cravings . Hope this change will address those issues
