  1. And then the world split in half because of the rip in the time-space continuum.
  2. Actually technically MM's only getting one coaster... The other coaster was supposed to be built this year and Escape from Krypton's been there since 1997 (although I guess you could call it something new). On top of that SFA just got Thomas Town so I don't understand where this "lack of investments" is coming from. Yeah! This image pretty much suits this thread.
  3. SPEED TOWERRRRRR!! Is it just me or is Blackstone running out of name ideas?
  4. I recently got into photography after being inspired by some stuff I found on deviantART and Flickr! Nothing really fancy... Here's my deviantART for those that are curious... and as a little plug. I'll take the photos, upload my personal faves, and then edit them in Picnik. I don't have too many photos yet, and my camera isn't the best camera in the world, so I have trouble taking some shots. Overall photography is really fun! Sunlight streaming through a cloud. Times Square.. probably the best part of New York City Nassau Tower Bridge in Charleston South Carolina... Taken on cruise over the summer.
  5. I wanna buy the Big Dipper... Where's Prince Desmond when you need him? On second thought, my portable headphones stopped working altogether and my internet is stuck... Good times... Good times...
  6. Hello everyone... You guys mind if I give you some free advertising??? Any organization endorsed by Basil Marceaux is endorsed by me! TPR is awesome!
  7. Racing coaster looks like a perfect family coaster for the park, not too fast, but not too slow. Kinda reminds me of Italian Job. I'm actually pretty happy to finally see footage of this ride. I originally thought it was gonna deliver more thrills, but it seems to be more of an in-between coaster. I'm really hoping this park succeeds. Although, I kinda feel that already planning a second park even though the first park hasn't opened yet isn't the best idea in the world though.
  8. I'm a photography newbie as well. I was inspired by the stuff I saw online and decided to check it out. I use... 1. A generic old digital camera from 2003 with the front plate broken off 2. Picnik with a little GIMP on the side 3. An eye for art. 4. A little inspiration from Flickr and deviantART. Here's an example of an unedited photo I took. Since TPR won't let me link directly to the image for some reason. I edited this one like crazy to bring out the blue color in the middle. I basically darkened the background and saturated the picture. Nothing too fancy... just a little Picnik magic. Looks like you have to click here as well. I just looked at professional photographers pics online (primarily Flickr and deviantART). I studied their art style and did a little practicing of my own. Then when I went into the field, I looked for a good photo op and started shooting away. I'd look for the perfect photo and delete all the crappy ones when I had the chance to save room for other pics. Once I got home, I dumped all the pics on my computer and if I liked it, I'd post it online and if I didn't, I'd stick it in an editor and play around with the effects to see what I could pull off. So all you really need is a camera (any kind works) and a decent photo editor (I'd recommend Picnik - easy to use, does the job, and its free - But if you're willing to go the extra mile for more features, programs like GIMP and Photoshop are good choices as well).
  9. Wood coaster - Some of the sections are a little flat... Are those MCBRs? If they aren't I'd recommend turning those into small airtime hills. Overall: Great job on the woodie... It looks great! Your wood coaster layouts are a million times better than they were originally. Steel coaster - Not sure if the MCBR is really needed because its such a small coaster. Layout looks solid. Keep working on extending your brake runs. You should start experimenting with making your coasters look a bit more realistic. Fantasy designs look a lot better than your first few designs, so I'd recommend experimenting with realism. Look at pictures for inspiration.
  10. ^SFFT usually wins best show and BizarROS and MF will switch places every once in a while. The results really don't surprise me that much.
  11. If you're going for realism... Paramount didn't have a Nicktoons license in 1999. The parks still had their Hanna Barbara themed lands. IIRC - Fairly Oddparents didn't air until the early 2000s (I think 2001 was the first season). Some suggestions - Mainly for the Nick-themed area... - Popular Nick shows at the time were Rugrats, Catdog, Hey Arnold, Wild Thornberries, Rocket Power... - ROCKO'S MODERN LIFE - Seriously I've never seen anyone pull off a Rocko themed ride and this park is a perfect fit for a Rocko-themed dark ride or something similar. - If you could pull of a Legends of the Hidden Temple or Guts-themed attraction, that would be awesome. Don't know much about those shows? There's always Google or Wikipedia. I'd love to see more close ups of you rides from the ground. Aerial shots are good, but I'd like to get a feel for the theming. I like what I see so far though.
  12. ^ Looks like somebody needs to get Firefox or Chrome (or any other browser that isn't named Internet Explorer).
  13. This little coaster managed to make it past the radar. S&S launched coaster for Beijing OCT.
  14. Actually S&S has had a ton of failures and delays (Ring Racer anyone?) its just that they build fewer rides. If they had built just as many rides as Intamin, chances are they'd have just as many problems.
  15. Confirmed BGW - Tower Do upgrades count? SFOT - Texas Giant 2 SFMM - Superman rehab Unknown (not sure if these count as rumors) Hersheypark - Markings all over the park... Over 200 feet... Moreys Piers - Woodie is almost out of planning stages, which means something may happen in 2011. Morey's Coaster Clicky Heide Park is getting a DM Clicky
  16. Dark Knight never really "failed". It's just not as well-received as it could've been because of the hype. So far... SFOG SFGAm SFGAdv SFOT SFMM are all slated for something in 2011. I honestly did not expect SFOG, SFGAm, or SFMM to get anything next year, but it seems that SF's been throwing curveballs left and right. Right now it's only a matter of time before the rest of the parks announce their anniversary addition and SF has said that they would extend anniversary additions to 2012. ** Heck... A lot of parks have been throwing curveballs lately. I didn't expect half the parks that are getting new additions next year to get additions. **
  17. Call me spoiled, I guess, but you would probably get tired of it after awhile. I live ten minutes away and spent almost every day of my teen years there, so maybe I got burned out. I'm not saying KI has a better collection of rides, just that the recent additions to GAm have been underwhelming. I know it's a good coaster collection, but the only ones that really excite me anymore are Raging Bull, Viper, and Batman: TR, and they have all been there for a long time. I read about all these newer top coasters around the country and wish we had just one. I'm not the only local with the same thoughts. We only went there this summer because we had four free tickets. We never go to the water park because it takes two days to do both, so a slide doesn't excite me after thinking Chang was here. The year Griffon opened (and the year following) I visited BGW on a regular basis because it was my home park and the perfect place to get my coaster fix (since I don't get to visit parks very often). However, I made the mistake of visiting the park very regularly, so I got bored of riding the same coasters/water rides and seeing the same shows every single day. Since then I never really visited the park (saving up for next year's tower). I don't really miss the park that much even though I love BGW. I'd HIGHLY recommend just not visiting the park for a long term period (maybe a year or two) and come back to the park. You will enjoy it more than you do now regardless of a new ride or not. Just be glad your homepark is actually getting something new.
  18. Knowing CD5's habit of throwing curveballs, I have a gut feeling that Parachute Falls won't be leaving anytime soon but will be replaced by another beloved ride (Vulture or Derecho probably). Vulture seems likely as Arrow Suspendeds are getting older and becoming more of a maintenance problem. Even though I don't recall any Suspendeds closing down around this time period, it seems that this one's been having problems. Derecho's another curveball. Or it could be something completely different. SF was weird around this time, closing a lot of classic attractions in return for newer, bigger attractions.
  19. Its only a rumor... The problem with Dubai was that the city tried to go big with tons of extravagant, ambitious projects and they failed with the global recession (basically a go big or go home mentality). If Dubai had opted for smaller projects, chances are more of them would've been built. This SF park looks way too ambitious for the current chain to do anything with it since they're still in debt. I've been having doubts about Ferrari World as well considering the state of the economy and a lot of the newer theme parks that have been built within the past 10 or so years (outside of China) having major problems. ** Six lands for six flags... looks like SF's really going back to their roots on this project. **
  20. Kings Dominion's getting it since it's mandatory that KD gets a new ride every single year. Looks like Vortex is staying.
  21. This is real cool and all, but what are the chances of this even making it off the ground? A lot of touristy cities that tried to build too fast are experiencing a huge problem with projects not getting done (like Dubai and Las Vegas). Personally I don't really see this becoming a reality since the economy is still pretty bad and people aren't as likely to pay money to visit Dubai in droves. Bearcat89 pretty much summed up my feelings about this project best. Heck, I'm not even sure if Ferrari World will be able to make it off the ground (with just about every single new park built in the last 10 years having trouble). However I guess we just have to wait and see. ** Tee hee I see a parachute drop, log flume, and a possible mine train coaster. I guess SF's going back to its roots. **
  22. ^ Yeah... Flyers and Inverts have different track ties (they're generally curved on the outside instead of flat like the track shown in the picture). ^^ Hmmm... Interesting. It looks like B&M is using hyper track (or at least hyper style track) for their newer DMs now. I'm still not sold on the prototype idea though. I have a gut feeling that this won't be a wingwalker.
  23. Its almost Saturday and my mouth is still somewhat bleeding... I really hope I can eat food tomorrow.
  24. This im taking with huge grains of salt. The timber on this ride is already shocked from years of torment! And the GP will still stay away from this rough rider! If Texas Giant 2.0 works out, I can definitely see parks like KI give their rough wood coasters major rehab to bring it to rideable standards. So far, TG looks like it's gonna be an insane ride after the rehab and it's definitely making a ton of buzz in the enthusiast community, so maybe making the drops and turns a little steeper, rebuilding the loop, and extending the layout would renew interest in SOB if TG's new rehab proves to be successful. I'm not really sure about the current state of the ride structure or whether or not KI continues to maintain the ride even 2-3 years after the ride closed to the public though. -_-
  25. Its either sitdown, floorless, or stand-up track. Dive Machines have flat track ties across the top while sit downs, floorless, stand ups have bends (in the shape of an inverted trapezoid without a bottom). It might also be hyper track, but it's kinda hard to figure out the track's size from the camera's location. I've included some pics for comparison... Taken from their respectable RCDB pages. EDIT: I'm throwing in the Heide Park track as well (cropped to fit TPR's size requirements). Stand-up track Floorless track DM track... Flat track ties all the way through (with one exception) Sitdown track
