  1. A 180* twist off the lift? So kinda like the Vekoma Flying Dutchman coasters... I'm intrigued.
  2. I have no idea what that show is, but I like it. Nice pictures though, looks like a nice park.
  3. My phrasing wasn't the clearest - I meant that the stairs and elevators would only need to go up 2 floors, not 6, and therefore wouldn't cost as much money to install and/or maintain. I'm not saying it'll happen one way or the other, though, I'm just trying to think about it from all angles. And for the record, if they do end up building a parking garage, it won't be for quite some time.

  5. ^ Holy crap, that makes perfect sense.
  6. You also have to keep in mind that not all projects are exactly the same. That article simply says $40 million, but not how the money is split up. How much of that money is used on the actual garage itself, and how much is for the amenities (i.e., the pedestrian bridge, outer facade, etc.)? Moreso, did they have to do extra site preparation to stabilize the ground to hold the garage? All of that can raise the price of the parking garage if they needed to do it. A parking garage at CP isn't necessarily out of the question, especially considering a few things. If they added a 2- or 3-story garage to reclaim a portion of the current lot, they wouldn't need the extra concrete, steel, etc. to go up 5 or 6 stories. They also wouldn't need to construct stairs and elevators to go up that high either. I'm not talking about building the world's largest parking structure, just one sized enough to handle a decent portion of the traffic and give the park a little extra room to work with in the future. I'm not saying that you're wrong (because let's face it, depending on the planning and site conditions, a garage at CP may be much less or much more expensive), just that you need to look at it from more than one angle relating to a completely different project.
  7. The fact that they can reference an obscure new ride in Japan is impressive for the GP, but it doesn't make that statement any less head-scratching.
  8. How long can you last? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLArBZISjio
  9. I like the logos a lot. Simple, yet eye-catching and effective.
  10. Should've gone to rehab. But no, this is no surprise at all.
  11. Which is the exact reason Disney and Universal spend the extra money to make high-quality, high-detailed attractions. The better the attraction looks and captures the public's attention, the more people will be likely to visit - which means more money and a greater ROI. They just don't make the attractions look amazing just for the hell of it. Moving on, the main reason SoB has so many problems was the company who built it. RCCA isn't exactly a giant in the industry, and they aren't even around anymore (as far as I'm aware). SoB was by far their biggest project, and it just didn't seem like they had the experience to take on a ride that enormous. The best option at this time would be to just remove the faulty structure of the ride and start from scratch with a new ride from a new company.
  12. Thanks for the insight there, Captain D-bag.
  13. For me, its the freefall/drop rides, and the S&S launch towers. I don't usually have a problem with heights, but its the freefall that really gets to me. The only drop ride I've been on is Demon Drop at CP, and I've yet to build up the nerve to get on the bigger towers. As far as the S&S towers go, I've only been on Holiday World's Liberty Launch, and although small, it still got to me. Needless to say, I've yet to ride the bigger ones.
  14. Then why did you keep insisting on discussing it once people said that it would never happen due to OSHA restrictions and safety hazards? And with that, I'm finished and moving on to another topic. In regards to finding more space in the park, what if CP started expanding out into the existing parking lot? Removing a large section of the parking lot and replacing it with a two-story parking garage would free up a potentially significant amount of room, and not congest the flow of traffic too terribly. If done properly, the parking garage would allow for more parking in a smaller area, and not disrupt the skyline significantly. A multi-story parking structure (say, 5 or more stories) would look awful (though not as bad at the Disaster Transport building ), but a smaller, 2-story structure wouldn't be an eyesore, and it wouldn't be too bad to get out of. I doubt they'd do this, as they can still add plenty of rides in the park as it is, but if they were to look into an option like this, what is everyone's opinion?
  15. As far as putting a GCI on Millennium Island, there's not enough room with STR on a portion of it. However, if they were to put part of the layout onto the island (a la STR), that might be a possibility. Regardless, I can't see that happening - and especially if they add the Dinos Alive attraction on the island for next season.
  16. Seriously, its never going to happen. I know you should never say never, but this is a guarantee. If (and that's a big if) they reached the point where they would have to build over/around other rides, there are plenty of others that they'd build around first. They aren't going to ruin the aesthetics and atmosphere around one of their signature rides by plopping a ride in the middle. It's pointless to keep talking about it. Besides, its not like there's no room at all to expand and add new rides. Sure, it looks like the park is running out of room, but moving around or removing some rides can open up a lot of space. Personally, I would imagine they would get rid of one of the three antique cars in the park and shuffle around some of the flats in the near future to open up some space for a new ride. Likewise, I would bet that the employee parking lot in and around Disaster Transport is another place they are looking at to take out in favor of a new ride. But it won't be inside one of their biggest rides at the park.
  17. Don't joke about that, its not even funny. ...well, maybe a little.
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it was Carowinds. I "heard" it was carowinds also...and not be enclosed. Unless I'm mistaken, the FoF at Kings Island was also going to be relocated, so maybe CW would get one and Carowinds was to get the other?
  19. To be honest, I don't know why people keep bringing up the "most coasters" angle here. The coaster wars are over. If the removal/replacement of an existing ride would make the park better, they'll do it. Some of the rides are getting old (particularly Wildcat) - if the best option would be to remove a ride/coaster and add a newer, better ride in its place, CP would do it. That being said, I don't think CP will remove any coasters for a 2012/2013 ride. One rumor that's been going around the last few years is to put a new coaster in the employee parking lot, out behind Disaster Transport. Knowing CF and (specifically) CP, it wouldn't be a parking lot coaster. They'll take the extra time to make the area look nice and fit in with the rest of the park. Taking the lazy way isn't something that CF would do with their flagship park.
  20. The closest thing CP has to a multi-looper is Raptor. However, a floorless would be a different ride experience, one which I've always though the park was missing. Regardless, I wouldn't argue with a WingRider, either. And I've never understood the complaints with Maverick, either. Sure, the turns and transitions are quick, but I haven't had problems with them at all.
  21. I'm not sure it solely a CF thing for Racer. Unless I'm mistaken, the trims have been there at least since the Paramount days - if not before. My guess is it has to do with the ride itself, and not the company policy.
  22. A floorless done correctly would be a welcome addition to the park. Not only would it be a people-eater (which at a park as big and crowded at CP, that's a definite consideration), the layout and location would offer a different experience than most everything else at the park. However, I'm thinking it will be a newer-type ride, either a massive flyer-combo, or a next-gen WingRider. Having B&M build it, you know it's going to be a great ride no matter what. Now comes the clue-hunting from the park, and the rumor and speculation leading up to the announcement.
