Definitely go for 2 separate computers. Plus, I personally trust PCs more than Macs.

A wrap for dinner from our campus deli - $5.00 Damn you price gouging! Its the reason I have finally fallen into the "broke college student" category. But it took almost 2 and a half years to get there, so I guess that's a bright spot...

SeaWorld Orlando (SWO) Discussion Thread
DiSab replied to disneygurlz2s's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree that the theming around the ride will have a lot to do with the ride experience, but that still won't make up for seemingly run-of-the-mill layout. Granted, I have yet to ride a B&M flyer (only KI's Firehawk), but this doesn't seem all that impressive layout-wise. The lake dip will indeed make the finale extremely unique - I just hope the rest of the ride delivers similarly. One thing I didn't notice until I saw the overview shots is just how cramped and crowded the construction site is. The fact that the crew is able to work around all the wall, holes, etc. to get the ride up is very impressive. I think the biggest thing that still bothers me is the inclusion of the MCBR. It just seems extremely pointless on a ride that is so short and compact, especially when it (1) has two loading stations, and (2) is a flying coaster. If the brakes don't slow it down at all (or very little), what the hell is the point?!? And if it's being used to control the speed and splash size during the finale, I still hold that they could've gotten the same effect with simple trims. Personally, I would like to have seen another element in place of the brakes - like a zero-g roll, with the trims placed on the down slope from the inversion (if needed). -
TPR's Ever Evolving Park Index

I sent in a few CP pics a day or two ago. I'll go through and see if I have any more. I also have a ton of KI pictures from the '07 season, including several of Firehawk construction and for sure a few sign pics. One I know I have is SlingShot's sign, if you want that. I'll go through my folders in the next few days and pull a few for the index. -

Looks like a good layout. A little on the short side, though. The only potential problem I see is the MCBR - it seems like it might kill the momentum going into the lake splash. Although I guess it could be controlled how much it slows the train, depending on how much splash they want. But if that's the only reason for the brakes, why not add another element there and just use trims before the water dip? Do they want to be able to run an extra train? Or is there another reason behind it? -
Yes. Very much so. As are most parks, if you don't have management's permission. Best not to risk it.

PTR: Great Adventure.. IN NOVEMBER!
DiSab replied to Josh Davidson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I must say, I do like the blue track color. And by the looks of it, the supports will be a metallic silver/gray color. I do wonder what the new name will be, though. It should be interesting to see how this comes along during the off-season. -

That was hilarious. It is a shame that it'll be closing, but if it's really that bad (which I don't doubt) its not that much of a surprise. Still a shame though... -

Well this is just another reason to visit Florida sometime soon. I've always wanted to check out Sea World. The only time I went was to SW Ohio, years back - so far back, in fact, I barely remember any of it. -

Huh, too bad. Hopefully a buyer is found, 'cause I would really like to visit at some point. Even if it's not the greatest park around, it certainly seems like it would be a fun place to spend a day. -

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

If we're talking strictly hypercoasters (200-299 feet) I have no doubt it will be the best in Ohio. But if we're talking best coaster-over-200-feet hyper, I don't think it'll be the best in Ohio, simply because of MF's first drop. I could definitely see this as being one of the best coasters in the Midwest even. This ride is gonna have airtime, and a lot of it. I can't wait for Opening Day '09. -
Kingdom of the Dinosaurs at Knotts...

If Knott's were to put a whore house/strip club there, the park would become every coaster nerd's wet dream - coasters, sex, and BOOBS! -
Brazilian SLC Construction
DiSab replied to LuccasCBMR's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's absolutely amazing looking. If I'm ever in Brazil, I know were I'm spending a day. And special effects on the track? Sounds like firebursts a la X2. -
Not necessarily a beer or wine, and I don't have any pictures, but... I had an Electric Lemonade at BW3s a few nights ago. Mmmm...

I had this happen twice last year on two different rides: --My brother and I waited for Raptor for about an hour. We got into the station, and in line for the front when it started pouring. We decided to wait it out sinec we were already under cover and there wasn't much else to do in the rain. Waited 30-45 minutes before they opened it again. That was probably the craziest ride I've ever had on Raptor. --One of the final weekends of Halloween Haunt at KI last year I was in line for The Beast with a friend. We got in line about 11:30 and waited about 45 minutes before we were in the station. They closed it for technical difficulties for some reason or another. They said they were going to try to get it up and running ASAP, so we decided to wait it out since there wasn't much else to do. We probably waited another 30 minutes or so before they closed it for the night. On a side note, I'm still without a night ride on The Beast...

Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
DiSab replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Like I've stated before, I don't really like the theme at all. Not sure how an on-board sound system will work on a woodie. I've never ridden a ride with one, so I can't say what they do for the ride. Theme aside, it really does look like a great ride. Hopefully the actual first drop will look more like the artwork and less like the animation, but either way it'll still be a good drop. The rest looks solid as well. This isn't something I'll make a trip across the country specifically to ride, but it's definitely one more credit to pick up if I'm ever in the area and take a trip to SFMM. Can't wait to see the construction progress on this thing. -
Given I'm in a service fraternity, I'm volunteering fairly often. And I love every minute of it.

Here's a few pictures from my photography class that I mentioned. Keep in mind that this is a film-photography class, so I had to scan my actual prints to get them Internet-worthy. Forgive me if they look a little washed out. I ran them through Photoshop only to try to darken the images a little and make them a little more clear, so hopefully that helped. Title: Lonely Title: Fire! Yeah, I'm a pyro. Title: Dumpster Down Title: Double Me I didn't take this, but a friend did. I liked how it came out.
