Gravity Group Announces "Timberliner" Trains
DiSab replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Like I said a few pages back, I would expect to see the launched woodie something like Maverick with the launched/powered lift - more than likely not a true launch. -

Holy hell, did they really get all that done in the last week?!? I knew GCI was good about getting their rides in quick, but I don't think I've seen a woodie go up that quickly. Or maybe I'm just an idiot. But based on how fast they got the tallest part of the ride built, I wouldn't be surprised to see the rest built, or close to built, within the next few months (given how low to the ground the rest of the track travels). -

Hopefully I'll be able to get to the park next year. This ride is shaping up to be a beast (no pun intended). -

It's OK, I've done the same thing. With that said, looking back at the train image, it does look like there's two per row. Given what SFNERules said, it does look like there's one large and one small dummy in the seats. But it really does look like the smaller one is a few rows back, which threw me off for a second. -

I suppose that a launched woodie wouldn't necessarily mean a fast launch. It could just mean a lift-launch, a la Maverick. Nothing too fast, but a different way to get from bottom to top without making the rest of the ride overly rough. Also, doesn't Intamin consider their cable-lift woodies "launched?" If so, these new trains might simply be cable-lift compatible. I wonder who will be the first park to buy these new trains? With all the work done to some of the CF woodies lately (Thunder Road/Rebel Yell [i can never remember which one ], Mean Streak, SoB) I wonder if they would bite and purchase at least one set to see if the rides track better. Also, by the look of the tiny image, it almost seems like the seats are designed with one per row. That can't be right, can it? That just wouldn't seem very practical at all... -

If I'm not mistaken, I believe he is talking about CW's wild mouse, which I'm fairly certain is a Mack-designed ride. But that's pretty much all I know about it. -

Well, I'm now starting to doubt the doubts I had a few weeks ago. This ride is looking better and better each day. I am glad they added a fourth element into the layout - and an in-line twist through the pretzel will definitely be sweet. But I'm with everyone else - if the in-line wasn't mentioned in the 2-D layout, I wonder what else the ride will feature that hasn't been mentioned yet...? I guess you really can't judge the layout based on an overhead, 2-D model. Looking at the layout picture, you really can't tell the elevation difference. But now seeing the ride go up, and the support configuration, this is looking even better. The height difference between the supports on the helix between inversions 2 and 3 makes it look absolutely sick. I can't wait to see how it shapes up once the track is in place. -

Sweet pictures. I love the long exposures on the Colorado Adventure pictures. And the one of the guy on the carousel was... odd...

Photo TR: Alton Towers Corkscrew Farewell Day
DiSab replied to window's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Fantastic PTR. Alton is one place I would really like to visit one day. I've heard so much about the park, and seeing these pictures just makes me want to get there even more. While it is sad to see Corkscrew leaving, we have to remember it is a Vekoma death-machine, so it was inevitable that it would happen eventually. Given the rides going into other parks recently, I'm really interested to see what's in store for SW6. It's bound to be fantastic, whatever it is. -

Agreed. Those trains are absolutely awesome. I liked the looks of this ride from the beginning, and now it's looked 1,000x better. I'm still really interested in how they will do the dark ride portion. -

This is gonna be a hard decision. I love the Manta BC one - great editing. Shane's, of course, is fantastic. And the Quantum of Manta is good too. I might have another one up here before the contest is over - we'll see if I get a creative streak or not. -

Better Days -- Bruce Springsteen I dunno, my life has taken a bad turn in the last two weeks or so. Listening to The Boss has been one of the things that gets me through - particularly this song, for various (and maybe obvious) reasons.
