Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
DiSab replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Here's my stance on the ride: Like many people have said already, SoB really doesn't have anything special about it anymore. Sure, it's the tallest and fastest woodie, but that's about it. The layout is, frankly, boring as hell. Big lift, drop, crappy helix, another crappy helix, 2 turns, and brakes. Nothing special - hell, there's kiddie coasters out there that have a more diverse set of elements. There is no denying it anymore - without the loop (and even with the loop, depending on who you talk to), the ride is a lemon. The G-trains didn't do a whole lot to help with the shakiness of the ride. The old Premier trains stapled you into the seat, allowing no room to move or brace for the roughness. It was basically a 3-minute violation of your body. the G-trains, while they do give you more room to move, just don't do the ride justice whatsoever. It feels a little like the width of them aren't quite correct, either. Personally, I felt several points in the ride where the trains seemed to shift laterally more than they should. It just added to the overall roughness and unpleasantness. Riding SoB in the G-trains is slightly better, but still a 3-minute violation of your body. If the park removes it and adds something better, I'm all for it. There is a lot of land back in that area, just begging to be used. There's probably even enough room to expand the pathways into that area and add a coaster or two and several flats. The park could have so many options to use that plot of land, it just seems pointless to leave such a (as Oslor said) giant mountain of suck standing. I have a feeling we may have seen the last of the Son, but all we can really do is wait for the official word from the park. -
I agree, that pic of Big Mike and Robb attempting to desquish from the Wacky Worm is one of the funniest I've seen in a while. Robb's face is priceless.

I know firsthand how frustrating that can be. It's happened to me my fair share of times. And like someone above said, you guys don't have to apologize for having fun on the trip. As much as everyone (including me) enjoys the updates, we'll understand if you can't get any updates on here. TPR Grand Prix - that sounds like a crazy time.

I completely agree with you here, especially since I'm in college. All the food that's bad for you is so much cheaper, it's hard to eat healthy on a college budget. you can get a decent-sized salad for $3.50-$4.00, or a pile of fries for $0.99. When you only have about $6 to spend on food, which would you pick? It's ridiculous. I try to eat as best I can, but oftentimes it's just so hard.

^Yes, it looks like we have become that lazy. Sad, isn't it?

Themeparkman's Summer 2009 TR's!

That is one of the best smells ever. Great pictures - I love the one of Patriot in the incline helix with the sun flare. Looks like it was a good time to go. -
Whats The Weather Like Where You Live?
DiSab replied to RtherBOnACoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
It's been hovering around 75-80* here the last few days. Some days have been cloudy, others (like today) have been sunny and beautiful outside. We had a little rain late last night, but nothing too horrible (like they got down in Cinci - suckers!!! ). Hopefully tomorrow is sunny again, 'cause I have to work outside in the afternoon/evening. If it rains, it'll suck. Hopefully not. -

Kum and Go?! Crazy Minnesota... $9.45 for 4 bottles of pop (1 Dew Voltage, 1 Dew Throwback, 1 pepsi Throwback, 1 Pepsi Max) and a giant can of Red Bull. Yeah, I'm in for a long night... I hate finals week...

Don't feel too bad, I didn't start dating until 2 years ago. That's right, my first girlfriend wasn't until my sophomore year in college, when I was 19 (coincidentally, the same time as my first kiss ). But that's the way my mom was, too - if I can't go anywhere, I shouldn't be dating.

Awesome concept. I really wish more companies would attempt large-scale shuttles like this (although I understand why they don't ). Overall I'd give it an 8.5/10. I love the layout and the elements in it - especially the pop of airtime coming out of the station. The sheer size of this is impressive, and intimidating. Like a few others have said, the supports seem a little odd, which is one of the few things I see wrong with it. Awesome job. -
Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

That's what she said! One thing I'm wondering from the regulars to WoF - has Prowler gotten better since it's opened? I know some people have said Terminator has been steadily getting better since opening, as it breaks in. I'm wondering if Prowler has been doing the same. From the reviews it gave close to opening, I can't imagine how crazy it must be if it has broken in over the last month and a half or so. -

And it looks like she did it again. Classic.

The Legacy of Summers/Dinn
DiSab replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I think Mean Streak's problems are a combination of it being a Dinn/Summers creation, less-than-adequate maintenance, and the fact that it's just so damn big. -
