  1. i went tonight and saw some changes in the park. - The sign is Grand Ave is being updated. One side is down and the other has the updates. There is now a Six Flags logo on one half and a Hurricane Harrbor one on the other half. - The parking lot signs are being changed to M&M's from Looney Tunes. The first 2 rows by the entrance. - Space Shuttle America now has a giant Miracle Whip banner on it. - The Video screen attached to the train tracks is working with no problems. They have had problems with the screen going out, but works fine now. - Even more ads have been added around the park.
  2. ^ Out of those teams, only Florida and maybe STL would be considered small market teams. Arizona is now a small market team, but before was in the top 5 in spending in the league. What is sad is when the Yankees payroll is higher then the Marlins (2nd in the NL East,) Pirates, Nationals and Padres combined. Hell, their payroll is 52 million more then the 2nd place in spending Mets. And this is before they try to acquire someone before the trade deadline. The Marlins got the right idea here. Sign great young talent for cheap, release them/trade them when they are worth a bunch, put a decent team out there to get a new stadium with tax player dollars and collect revenue sharing money. It worked for the owner in Montreal before the bastard sold the team to MLB.
  3. Even then it is worthless to draft talent. Look at the Nationals. They can pay Steven Stratsburg for 3 years, around 45-50 million, then loose him to the Yankees if he is a stud. Then that means they paid to develop him for 3 years only to get 3 or 4 picks and an FU.
  4. Because it would make the Yankee's have to draft talent instead of buying it. And we know that will never happen. We have the luxury tax, but it does no good. The big market teams just ask who to make the check out to and move on. Without a cap, I get why teams such as the Pirates, Marlins, Nationals, Royals and so on give up their best players. There is no way any of those teams can compete when the Marlin's entire payroll is less then the 2 highest paid players on most teams. Even with that, it is amazing to think the Marlins are not that bad.
  5. With Cedar Point, try the test seat first. If it is close, go for it. I was maybe a half inch short on TTD and ended up just getting it clicked with the help of my friend. With M Force, I was a good 2 inches short and had no problem in the back row. Also, it does help to store things like a wallet in a l0cker. The $2 dollars they cost is good for one use, but they do not empty out the lockers until after close. This is coming from someone with a 42-43 inch waste. I'm 5'7 so I am not much help on Wicked Twister, but I know I failed the test seat, but have never had a problem getting on an impulse coaster. With Kings Island, no coaster was a problem at all. The worst was finding leg room in the Fairly Odd Coaster. Only one I have no clue about is Little Bill's Giggle Coaster. I just saw this on Screamscape and wanted to give you a heads up for Busch Gardens.
  6. Got to meet all the members of Yellowcard, Something Corporate and The Format at a concert in college. Even help the lead singer of The Format find his bands van after he was almost hit by a car.
  7. 13 straight years without a NL win
  8. ^ The flex ticket of Universal (both parks), Sea World, Busch Gardens and two water parks is 280. This also includes CityWalk, the shuttle to BG and is good for 14 days. The thing that is the killer is it does not include parking.
  9. Oh man, I remember that one! Sorry I don't have it anymore either :\ Is that the one where they discuss early traditional funhouses, together with vertically-challenged staff poking guests with electrified cattle prods? I laughed so hard... Before moving on to the Noah's Ark at Kennywood... and beyond. Later, the programme shifts to todays 'funhouses' such as Universal's Spiderman (I think) etc... I have it on DVD-R. It's a great prog... but I wish they'd stuck with more traditional funhouses. Read you all soon Simon Baynham www.rollercoastermedialibrary.com I think that might have been a later one. The program I remember was about traditional fun houses. They did the tour of Noah's Ark at Kennywood and a few other older ones. I remember one of them had the barrel of fun and has since closed due to a crook of an owner. The end of the program was about a VR type fun house. This was well before the Universal IoA era. I am still thinking it was shown in 1996-1997 and might have been filmed in 1995-1996 time frame. I also remember how awesome all 3 programs that night were. The Discovery Channel truly had a big impact on me with those programs.
  10. I completely forgot my one of my favorite bands(Cherry Poppin' Daddies) was going to play near my house on the 4th of July. Worst part is, it was their first time around here in years and i was only 25 minutes away oh well.
  11. Suicide Kings by Cherry Poppin' Daddies
  12. Anyone interested in trading theme park pins? I am getting into collecting them and have an extra Raging Bull and The Dark Knight pin from SF Great America to trade.
  13. I've been looking for 10 plus years for one documentary. It was one about Fun Houses during the original Thrills, Chills and Spills on the Discovery channel. I had it once on VHS, but no more. I know it is from 96-97.
  14. Unless something major happens, nope Do you listen to any Ska bands?
  15. No, as non-coaster porn tends to involve naked people. Do you still sleep with a stuffed animal?
  16. ^ Bret Hart has proven that wrong < Thinks inflatable hammers from Chucky Cheese rule V Has been to a Chucky Cheese in the last month
  17. Ever heard of Bud Smith or Clay Buckholz? Pitching a no hitter is great in the short term but not a long term indication of a pitcher's future... Don't forget José Jiménez. He was the first player event to get sent down to the minors in a season after pitching a no hitter in 1999. The rest of the season he went 0-5 in 11 starts. He did not start another game until 2003.
  18. Having teenagers as moderators on the company website doesn't exactly scream "credibility". Having the "man in charge" rant on message boards in general does scream credibility. Such a sad state with the park. I'll never forget my friend going down to the area around 6 months after Katrina and seeing the pictures he took outside the park. Just sad and amazing what nature can do.
  19. ^^ With the MF Island, I remember being on the river cruise (I think that is the name.) The driver point to the area in question and said "To your left is construc...oh nothing, keeping looking forward."
  20. I remember when this started it was 5 votes per e-mail address. And you had to make the effort to go back to the starting page and watch some videos before voting again. Now they direct you back to the voting page with the same players you voted for marked. Just remember the purpose of this. It is to get press and sell stuff. Like today, where I got an e-mail for a free trial to mlb.tv just for voting
  21. ^ That is insane. Thanks to Matt and JoJo for a fun night despite the lines.
  22. I agree 100% with that one. This year, on a whim, we decided to hit ValleyFair, Nick Universe and Adventureland in 3 days. The hotel was booked on Tuesday night and we left Friday at 4 am. There were no plans, no real research other then basic ticket prices and coupons. It was fun to just go somewhere new with no plans. My other advice is autograph books for the characters. They are cheap, easy to pack, and normally can last years if taken care of. I still have mine from WDW trips when I was a kid and took the thing everywhere in FL. It gives me a warm feeling when I see the page signed by 2 people in a show at Busch Gardens where I was picked to be Wally the Gator. It is something they will love then and cherish later in life.
  23. As a Nationals and Zimmerman fan, I agree. Zim is having a good year, but Sandoval deserved it. Although Victorino was the 2nd best choice (congrats to him.) My question is how the hell did Brandon Inge get voted in before Adam Lind?
