  1. Absolutely, I'm enjoying the updates! Everyone looks like they're having a blast. For what my opinion's worth, I'd be interested in a TPR cruise, even though affording such a thing is probably a few years away. Looking forward to more updates! ~Megan
  2. ^ Good luck! Hope it went well! My happy thought is that American Idol is on. I don't care how much crap I've heard that show get over the years--I still love it!
  3. I did add it, and I am so glad I tried it! (And so were quite a few others!). ~Megan P.S. Your reply makes me think I should pay a visit to ihasahotdog.com.
  4. I wonder if I should add chocolate to my pecan pie recipe for a potluck dinner for tomorrow night. Hmmmmm...
  5. When I was 12, I waited several hours after a long rainstorm for a final night ride on Alpengeist in the front seat. By that point the park was pretty cleared out and most attractions had closed (I was surprised they even re-opened Alpengeist with only about 20 minutes left before closing), so it was just the famous "B&M roar" coupled with darkness that made for a very memorable ride. Even more awesome is that my parents actually waited it out with me. They probably didn't realize how grateful I was, but let me tell you, I was probably one of the only 12-year-olds ever who thought her parents were supremely cool--well, at least for that night! In general I prefer coaster riding at night. Darkness always makes the rides seem faster because it feels like you're hurtling and flying into the unknown, and that feeling of flying and unpredictability is one of my favorite elements of a ride. I'm a huge fan of Screamin' Eagle night rides at SFStl for those reasons--though the coaster itself isn't perfect, its trek into the woods makes for a great dark setting to help deliver a very good, out-of-control-feeling night ride. ~Megan
  6. As usual, your pictures and captions were entertaining. As usual, they brought a smile to my face (and a cringe from the "unacceptable amount of wetness" photo!). And as usual, I'm looking forward to more! ~Megan
  7. Awesome pictures and awesome idea to post them! The ones with the sun setting are some of my favorites, although now I'm really curious about these pothole pictures since I'd never heard of that happening on a coaster. You've now succeeded in making me want to ride Rampage (and even Zoomerang) and really making me wish I had a job that came with the privilege of climbing all over coasters. Looking forward to more of these (since I take it, from the thread title, this might be ongoing?). ~Megan
  8. So does that mean that the Chinese word or saying that's usually on the back of a fortune wasn't there at all? In that case, I'd be a little irked if I were an Asian customer there. Even though I never remember them afterward, I like learning random things like that--and I'm sure I would if I spoke Spanish, too. In theory, though, I still don't think languages besides English in a fortune cookie are a bad idea, as long as whatever's printed represents the major demographics of a particular restaurant's customer base and doesn't lose the Asian influence that is supposed to be a part of the eating experience. ~Megan
  9. ^ Now THAT I'd like to see!
  10. Angus as a cat's name is simply awesome. And his capture of the box reminds me of my cat's love of boxes. Merry Christmas! ~Megan
  11. I actually think it's neat that both languages are used. Given the restaurant's location in an area where Spanish is a primary language for many, it looks as though some thought went into targeting and appealing to a wider demographic customer base, which I'll bet generates a little more profit. I'm not saying that moves like this should persuade native Spanish speakers should dismiss learning English while living in the U.S.--learning the language of one's new home country should be a priority for sure--but I don't think a little bilingualism hurts, either, especially in something as casual as a fortune cookie, or in how you said you're teaching KT some Spanish (I wish I could have learned something like that so young!). ~Megan
  12. I also received my card and pin in the mail yesterday. I love them both, especially the "Bah humbug" part of it! (don't want to give away too many details for those who haven't received their card yet!). Thanks Big Mike! ~Megan
  13. I hate snow, but I have to admit that adding roller coasters to it makes for some pretty pictures ~Megan
  14. I think it says a lot about the quality and vibe of these videos that, despite the fact that I don't know anyone in them personally, I still enjoy watching them. You'd think that watching other people have fun would be boring, but not so on this site. Thank you for posting these, Robb--I'm looking forward to the rest of the videos this month, and this is some pretty persuasive encouragement to eventually buy a DVD! ~Megan
  15. I just took a walk to the mailbox around the corner to mail my card
  16. You are my hero for your entry in the prayer book. It made me laugh (a lot). And I absolutely loved the colors in the pictures of the Tennessee Tornado, especially the one of the train climbing the lift. You're right, the fall really is a great time to photograph that ride. Those are some phenomenal shots. ~Megan
  17. When it comes to Yankees/Red Sox, I'm definitely a Red Sox girl, which is why I just hate to admit that your Fenway TR with your secret plot to doom the Red Sox was awfully entertaining! But the Philadelphia native in me did not find entertaining in the slightest the outcome of this World Series. Bah humbug to this Yankees shenanigans, I say! ~Megan
  18. Awesome pictures! The lighting is really cool in so many of them and I especially like the one of the Waveswinger (or whatever CP calls it) with all the fog. Thanks for sharing! ~Megan
  19. Yay for the Kilwin's mention! Can't believe you remembered someone (me) asking about it months ago. I liked your caption for it, too, although most customers in my store would instead gasp, "Oh, I gained 15 pounds just walking in here and smelling!" and think that was the cleverest thing EVER to say. I can only wonder what kind of comments are elicited by that sign. I love following along with this thread. Keep up the fantastic work! ~Megan
  20. Normally I have a hard time getting excited about Halloween stuff at parks, but your as usual entertaining captions really had me laughing and eagerly reading through your TR! Thanks for posting; I enjoyed it ~Megan
  21. For my birthday two days ago I ordered a Bloomin' Onion at Outback. Best birthday appetizer EVER! ~Megan
  22. Well, you're going to get called awesome and interesting for the second time in a day because it's true--that's what your TRs are! I love your captions; they range from being informative to making me laugh and I love how thoroughly you've covered each park so far. Looking forward to more! ~Megan
  23. Very interesting TR! I've always wanted to go to MP. I loved the culture aspect of this; it's one thing to read about these places, but it's another thing entirely to see pictures of a way of life so different from our own. As for that unnamed meal, I'm guessing it was a guinea pig. I remember reading about it in an ancient South American cultures anthropology class as being a widely consumed dish in the area and it made me cringe! Looks like you had a wonderful time and it's so generous that you included giving out shoes as part of your trip. Happy anniversary! ~Megan
  24. A Schwarzkopf with a smokestack mine-train-looking front car? Schwarzkopf FTW indeed! I love reports like this that feature out of the way places you don't hear about often. One day I'll get to Ireland and enjoy gorgeous views like the one from the top of the first Wild Mouse you rode. ~Megan
  25. Wow, you enjoyed Dorney's Wild Mouse? Did they actually have the brakes toned down? I rode it last year and it produced far too much abrupt stop/jolting start action after cresting a hill, which made for a really painful ride. Lucky you for getting some good rides out of it! I was also glad to see you gave Steel Force some love! I agree with larrygator, you really do offer a comprehensive view of these parks to give readers a good feel for them. I've really enjoyed following along with your reports! ~Megan
